USB Wi-Fi Adapter - Suggestion please?

Hi

I am not a tech savvy. I recently bought a DELL desktop from Bneacttrader

It did not come with Wi-Fi adapter (very annoying!!)

May I get some suggestions what type of Wi-Fi adapter I should consider?

I am thinking about getting this one

Thank you

Desktops should really use wired network. The type of wifi adapter you need depends on what speed you want, and also the current wireless setup and reception of your home wifi.

    • I am currently using TP-Link Archer D9 AC1900 for home wi-fi
There is no Ethernet connection to my study room (too far from the living room)

      • do you live in a house with an underfloor clearance which you can get access to?

  • Their listing does say no wifi ( didn't know business desktops ever came with wifi normally).
The one you linked should be fine but I would get a brand name , say, TPlink.
You can plug it in the back to be out of the way.
Or better, a wifi card that fits internally in a spare slot, again a brand name.

    • Hi PVA

do you think PCI slot is better than USB??

      thanks

Pcie cards usually come with antennas for better reception. USB sticks are a lot worse. It all depends on your home wifi coverage.

      • Much better, and you may even remove the antenna and extend it ( say put it higher) for better reception.
Make sure you have a slot to be able to do it though ( or take it to the local pic fixit store to install)

  • Some people here so not know what they are talking about. If you want amazing coverage but slow speeds get a AWUS036H. If you want something really good in terms of speed and coverage https://www.alfa.com.tw/products_show.php?pc=137&ps=246 AWUS1900
