    I wish these things came with more than 256gb memory as standard. 512gb is pretty cheap now so I don't understand why it's not a base option.

      This model was released two years ago. They won't update storage options for an old laptop. The SurfaceBook 2 will hopefully start at 256GB instead of 512GB.

      Plenty of people find 256GB enough, especially corporate business types who don't deal with large media files. Even 128GB is enough for someone who wants to run presentations, take notes, and type out documents. There's no point raising the barrier to entry for those users.

      • Ah does that mean it doesn't have the dGPU? because this model was released two years ago. Doesn't say the specs on this eBay listing.

        • The SB always had a dGPU, except for the base i5/128GB model. The recent release was for the Performance Base which comes with a more powerful dGPU and larger battery.

        • @eug: Ohh thanks for that. Haven't kept up with Microsoft lately.

          @ferds:

          Don't feel bad, neither has Microsoft.

      Because it was designed to compete head-to-head with high margin Apple products… not so much Dell, HP, Acer, etc.

    • What's wrong with 256 gb memory?

  • This or Surface Laptop?

      I'd go this, go into a jb and check them both out side by side, this is just premium & you can use it as a tablet :-)

      • There's a hideous gap when this thing is closed though. I've always been turned off by that.

  • How can this be 256gb AND i7??? Doesn't the i7 surface book come with a 512gb ssd????

    • Only if you buy the 512GB i7 model. :)

      They come in 256GB versions too.

  • I received mine and it had a hardware fault. Already sent back for a refund and bought an overpriced Macbook Pro instead.
