Safer Way to Sell Any Airline, Bank or Credit Card Points - Enquire Within

MOD — this thread is closed. See comment.

If you are not using your frequent flyer points for premium travel, you are losing out!

I can change that.

Dont use your points for economy flights, gift cards or overpriced headphones at horrible redemption rates!

Cash out your points for more and get paid today!

Generally I will pay 1 cent per point

Being the Number 1 points buyer on Ozbargain means I ensure safe practice and professionalism for every transaction - sell with confidence :)

Please PM me with any inquiries.

Note: The Moderators have asked me to list this ad here instead of in the classifieds as I run a registered business. Moderators take no responsibility and you are selling/trading at your own risk.

FAQ:

  • I do not sell points.

  • Obviously the airlines don't allow buying/selling of points and in no way am I suggesting they do. The methods I use minimize the risks involved and for that reason I obviously wouldn't publicize them here.

  • I ask users to PM me because I speak to everyone of my clients individually over the phone. This allows any questions or concerns to be answered and we only proceed if they are 100% satisfied. This also helps me personalize the experience and results in happy customers.

I am not pressuring anyone to sell me points. Get in touch if you think my service may be of use to you and hopefully i can help you as i have done for hundreds of Ozbarginers already :)

Cheers
Tuvz

Good example, like vantastic concludes in the end, some people prefer the money over redeeming business class flights.

There is also the added advantage that awards redemptions are 'flexible' where you can cancel them for minimal penalty.
I would say your Thai Airlines flight would be hard to change or cancel.
Also that Thai Airlines flight is also ages away. If you booked something for next month you'd be looking closer to $2,000.
Some people value this flexibility more than others.

In my experience Singapore Airlines has pretty good award availability. It's not always booking 12 months in advance. I just booked a return flight to Ho Chi Minh for 32500 points (or 65000 points business) plus $140 in taxes for next week from Perth. I can't come close to $465 on a full service airline.

Anyone can pick and choose scenarios to suit their arguments. There is no 'wrong' method in how people value their points and what people choose to do with them. If someone doesn't fly at all, then by far, their best way of monetizing points is via the secondary points market.

        • That is a great deal there, just wondering though how it come out as 32000 points, I get 40k points for Perth to Ho Chi Minh return but never the less for a full service airline it's good value.

Correct I can't alter the Thai flights without a hefty fee however I would also be no chance at getting a saver reward redemption to Europe only 1 month out either but right now I can book flights to Europe for sub $1300 next month. Even 10 months out you need to be very flexible with dates to find a saver redemption, especially if booking for 2.

It does vary on a case by case basis, you need to plan well ahead to receive an award redemption on popular routes like Europe and the US but an advantage is airline miles don't really discriminate on dates. So Melb to London still requires 106k points on Christmas day but good luck finding flights for sub $1500 on sale for that period however point redemptions for Christmas holiday period also pretty much require you book the day they're released.

Each to their own and I would encourage people to DYOR.

      • +2

Surely not all points are valued at 1c per point; QFF points surely higher value than other airlines/bank programs.

    • +3

Just surprised it hasn't been detected as TOC says even Classic Rewards Flights has to be redeemed by Member or their family members.
If he does do lets say minimum 2 name changes wouldn't that come up as a red flag. Unless his using a dummy name for the initial purchase from People then when on sells to third party/agents they name change to actual passenger so no 1 name gets hit on the system multiple times.

    • +5

yeah same here, no way would i sell my points.
they are too valuable for business class travel.

I now see the difference, how full of energy I am when I reach my destination & when I return home, its straight back to normal duties, very important as I'm self employed.

      1. The value of the points itself to buy tickets are actually constantly decreasing.
      2. The cost of the points to Arbtrages like Tuvz would only be due to competition or such a heavy demand that he's willing to pay more. As it stands any increase in price just reduces his margin. Due to point 1, the value is already going backwards. The reduction in point availability just reduces the volume he can sell.

      3. The problem with valuation like 2c-10c is based on retail prices. I'm sure most OzBer's don't pay for retail. I've looked at using my points for flights, when you include taxes, then compare it against discounted flights the points ratio is very very low. The key element to add to any calc is opportunity cost.

      • If you are going on a holiday then you have that luxury. I have to go when I have meetings etc. With sq points availability is awesome even at short notice which is why I love it.

Spent 1 mil points this year so far and anther 1.6mil in my account

  • FlyBuys points?

    • Would probably need it converted to Etihad or VA first. Don't think you can transfer Etihad, so probably would need to be VA!

      • +2

Given the conversion ratio, you're better off using them as "Flybuys Dollars" at Coles (if you were looking to convert to cash)

  • +3

Just a dumb question, how does one person get to buy or sell their points when it's tied to their account?

For example, I have 10k flybuys points but the thing I want is 15k points so I buy 5k off someone, now how do I move it to my account or whatever?

    • I've done it previously with Qantas FF, they have the option to transfer your points to 'family' members. All you need is to match a name, FF number and the relationship (ie. cousin, brother, etc).

    • You can't transfer Flybuys points between each other. The best you could do is transfer points to Velocity, then transfer the Velocity points to a family member.

  • +1

"As I undestand it they pay you for up front the points @ 1 cent each and you give them access to your account!, they buy tickets from there, so no transfers. One guy on Ozbargain classifieds has bought millions of points."
    http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/qantas-f…

    • +2

so thats how it works lol

    • +1

I guess that explains why Qantas now does an SMS verification when you log in…

    • +1

That would only work if the person selling the points sold exactly the number of points needed by someone else for a particular award booking.
Interesting idea though & I think its well within the scope of the program to allow any FF member to book an award for someone else (is that true?).

      • +1

        Depends on the program.

Qantas rules around booking for someone else are the same as their points transfer rules - i.e. it's supposed to be to a family member.

  • +1

    Can you pay in bitcoin?

    • Sorry, I dont use bitcoin

I had a positive selling experience with Tuvz so no complaints at all. Just thought I better share my experiences with members here considering selling points.
I had a Velocity account which I used to sell points to Watermelon (another large buyer of points on here, can't remember his exact name). That went all fine and smooth. A year later I did another transaction, this time selling to Tuvz. The only other transaction was points coming in from an actually family member which occurred before any point selling.

A few months after the second sale transaction I got an email from Velocity asking me to prove the family relationships for all 3 transactions. I didn't bother because I had a very small amount of points left in the account and within a few weeks they closed it down. It was also stated that any future accounts I made would be closed although I'm not sure how strict they will enforce this.

You have to be careful of who you sell to. Even if it's your only sale on the account, you might be transacting with someone who has lots of buys. If their account gets flagged then yours probably will as well. The best way to sell your points is probably in bulk all in one go, preferably to a buyer who hasn't transacted with anyone else either. You can probably negotiate a better price as well if you have a larger amount. I should also note that the buyer is more exposed to risk as the points can be taken away but you get to keep your money.

Tuvz has obviously found a method to minimise the risk of getting caught as otherwise there would be a lot more threads on these forums about people getting their accounts banned.

    Happy points hunting all.

    • Was a pleasure doing business with you :)

I'm sorry to hear about your velocity account and you are correct in mentioning that the buyer takes on the risk.
Multiple transfers is definitely a flag and I try not to buy from accounts that have done too many transfers.

    • Hi

      WatermelonJuice here.

Sorry we couldn't do anything to save your remaining points. It's always to sell to the same person if possible to avoid any potential problems with the airlines.

      Thank you for your business.

  • +3

Back in the day I discovered a way to generate points… too bad it closed after a long time, I racked up over 2million points.

    • Not sure how that's linked to the topic.. but lol Bankwest..?

    • Wow - I'm curious about the trick back then!

    • +1

Legend! Even 'illumination' is in awe. How could you possibly spend them?

      • 2 return tix to Hong Kong, return flight to la, 3 mbp, got 500$ each month from bank. Plus more!

Had I known I would have smashed out more.

        • Yeah it was sad when the golden goose ended but luckily they gave me a parting gift. Those were good times.

        • And how is your saving to buy Sydney house? There are still few loopholes but the risk is too high now. There was a guy took advantage of the NAB promo few years ago, is it you?

        • @samehada: no that wasn't me.

        • @Turd: So.. bankwest?

        • +1
        • @dazzywazzy: no, he is American I am not.

        • @Turd: Is it something just got closed recently? Like 1mth?

        • @dazzywazzy: In fact this can be done in Australia ;)

        • @samehada: nope, not recent, perhaps 3 or 4 years ago

        • +1

@Turd: Was it illegal? If it's already closed down, I don't see the need to be so secretive otherwise?

        • @callum9999: it was legal. Read all the terms and conditions.

Was screwing 3 banks not just one.

Because they loophole still exists but much tighter and no point now

    • The good old days.

I am selling my kidney, interested?

    • Too funny:)

    • +4

      buy one get one free?

    • +1

      wtfnodeal

    • How many do you have? I am looking for at least three kidneys.

  • +1

I've had a long chat with Tuvz, absolute top bloke, will sell when ive got enough points and am ready!

  • +2

Good luck on the business. Any of my fans here?

    • +9

Ooooh, here we go, bit of healthy competition :D

  • Hey Tuvz, sent you a PM with my details, keen to hear from you!

  • Long time lurker - created an account just to PM you however there is a 1-day cooling off period.

Most people here are doing frequent flyer points, I have AMEX Explorer points (thanks to last year's deal). What is your price on that - if not 1:1? Regardless, will be in touch as soon as I can, or feel free to drop me a message and I can contact you offline.

  • +2

Guys, it's very obvious he is a points broker, so advertises people can buy points from him and then your points will be transferred to the buyer direct from your account. (see comments buyer takes on risk)

He sells the points at a higher rate, so 100,000 points to buy from him costs $1,500 ($0.015 point) and he then buys them from you for $1,000 ($0.01 a point). $500 arbitrage for facilitating the transaction.

Someone will create an app to do it soon.

    • -1

Why don't you go and DIY then if you want to eat all the cake. If you want to get that extra $500 then you need to work for it.

    • -1

Meh, semantics, whether he sells the points or upgrades or whatever, who cares.

    • +3

I don't think that what you say is 'obvious'. He has created a market for people to easily sell their points, and so 'good on him'. He might be using them himself, or he also might be selling discounted Business Class seats. Comparing the cash price of a Business Class seat to the cost in points at 1 cent per point, then there is certainly room for a mark up, but still a big saving for the Business Class traveller. I know that there haven't been any problems, but knowing my luck, I am likely to get caught by the bank/airline, and so I won't do it.

      • +1

I never said anything was wrong with it, I just responded to all the comments about how he does it etc and pointed out the obvious part for those who commented with questions on how. He pretty much told everyone without specifically saying when he said buyer takes the risk. The comments of why don't you go and do it yourself are risible.

  • +1

NAB rewards points - what's the rate pls?

    • Same question here.

    • It's a 2:1 conversion ratio from NAB points to Velocity..
Looks like that's the best we can get :|

      • +1

Wait for velocity to run their 15% promos. Saying that though, NAB was one of those that I felt better of getting gift cards. IIRC the points:$ rate for the coles cards were slightly better than 2:1

  • +3

    Ozgameshop points?

  • Hi tuvz, if u can pm me with your contact details that would be great thanks!

  • +1

    Another happy customer here.

I PM-ed Tuvz yesterday at 1pm, we had a chat over the phone at 3pm, and today at 10:30am the money has been sent through to my PayPal.

Sold just over 300k worth of points with no hassle.

Highly recommend Tuvz, +1 from me

    • +1

      Wait, $300000, or 300000 points?

      • Haha 300,000 points, for $3000.

  • Do you buy NAB rewards points too?

    • -1

Hold on.. Are people selling their points because they are never going to actually use them? 1 cent per point seems way too cheap?

Just go and book a pointless business class trip somewhere already :)

      • +4

Not everyone can take a holiday. Some that slave away working 7 days a week may not have time to take holidays for 20 years.

      • +3

At 1 cent I could take 1 business class ticket to my favourite destination with my points, or 2 economy flights with the cash. It is all about priorities I guess.

  • +2

I sold some QFF points to Tuvz yesterday and I can confirm that the money was put into my bank account the same day. He was good to talk to and I'm a very happy customer

    • Thanks mate,

      Pleasure doing business with you:)

  • +1

As others said, I did send my FF points too and can confirm money transfer initiation to my account (paypal). Good doing business with you mate !

    • You're a champ!

  • Do you buy ANZ rewards points?

    • Once they transferred to an airline

Will do the business again ;-)

  • Hey Tuvz, from sheer curiosity, which airlines?

    • Tuvz? Are you there??

    • Qantas, virgin, Singapore, cathay, etihad, emirates and so on.

      • how about united mileage?

    Thanks Tuvz.

Sold some points, now $$$ in account.

Good communication skills - pleasure to deal with.

    • Thanks movieman.

      Pleasure dealing with you:)

  • +1

If you only ever plan on using qff points to buy gift cards or use for purchases in the qantas store - you would be better off selling the points right ?

    • -1

Absolutely, with a element of risk as a bonus freebie

  • +1

Thank you for a successful transaction, very quick and easy. Will deal with him again. As soon as i have points.:)

    • Thanks.

      Super easy working with you.

    Thanks Tuvz!

  • to all those who have commented above
it has been a great pleasure to transact with you :)

  • +1

Recently first time selling points and decided to take a chance with tuvz. Done a couple of transactions now and will never have to look on the classifieds again. Unlike other buyers who either cancel or stop replying, tuvz always follows through. Real nice and honest bloke. Fast transactions and easy to deal with. Money in my account a few hours after I transfer the points. Just hit him up any time I have a large chunk of points I need to get rid of now. Highly recommended.
