  • Tempting but I think I'll still wait on either a v2 or $300.

    • When is V2 coming out?

      • +1

I never claimed to know of V2, I just don't think the current pricing is where I want it to be with the draw backs of the spaghetti cable system that PSVR entails.

        • Yeah, VR needs to be wireless.

    • Never heard if PS VR 2 before.

  • +1

    Purchased
    Thanks!

For those that don't know much about VR

Playstation VR is somewhere between phone VR and the Oculus/Vive.

Real virtual reality has actual roomscale and processing power to run actual games.

    • +8

Try Resident Evil 7 with it and come back to us :)

      • +4

Although Resident Evil 7 is a great game (and "supports" VR), it is not a 180 degree / 360 degree real VR game. You might as well look at a TV screen.

Try Far Point with PSVR, and you'll be blown away :)

        • +7

not sure if you'd get the same experience on a tv screen. one memorable moment in the game is when the crazy woman was holding a knife 1cm away from my eye balls. shit was nightmare inducing haha.

        • +2

          @koom:

Yes - if you download the RE7 "Kitchen" demo from the PlayStation Store, this is awesome!

        • @daewoo: i never got the demo, assuming its the same as the full game? resident evil is the only VR game i've played start to finish and loved every minute of it.

    • +3

I am not sure why you are getting downvoted. I would say your assessment is about right. Although, I might dispute the term "real VR" in favour of full or complete VR.

VR is one of those things that people should start out at the entry level, like phone VR, and see if they like or enjoy it. It makes some people sick and some people just don't really dig it. Personally, I still look at VR as a novelty. Much like movement controls (Wii, Kinect, PS Move) or 3D stuff.

      • +2

I said Real VR because people try Phone VR and Playstation VR and then try the Vive/Oculus and its a completely different experience.

Its not very comparable and only gives a very rough idea.

I also don't recommend people try phone VR or Playstation VR first.

This is because phone VR/Playstation VR shortcuts its way to virtual reality a lot of people can get sick or dislike the experience.

When I say real VR I mean 360 degree accurate tracking at 90fps that hasn't been interpolated. Only Oculus/Vive do that.

        • +6

As a Rift owner and having tried phone VR and PSVR I disagree.

Phone VR is terrible. Rift/Vive with the right hardware is the best and PSVR is about 75-80% of the quality of Rift experience and still well worthwhile, especially if you have never tried VR on a high end PC.

        • -3

          @Phreakuency:

I'm not saying PSVR isn't worth it.

I'm just saying that if you are a person who has never tried VR, and you try the PSVR, your opinions on virtual reality in general are not going to be very accurate.

I'm not sure what you have done with your Rift, but with my Vive I have done many amazing things that simply are not possible on the PSVR. Google Earth VR, Onward, Tilt Brush, Doom 3, Arizona Sunshine the list of premium experiences goes on and on of which a PSVR doesn't even give you the same feeling due to it not being roomscale or doing anything similar to these games.

Again, my comment is to help prevent wrong assumptions, like how there are plenty of people who try Samsung VR and call virtual reality as a whole disappointing.

      • -4

Agreed. Downvotes in this scenario come from those who do not understand, and simply follow marketing believing they are getting a full VR experience.

  • Bought one.Thanks!

  • +1

in terms of motion sickness, is PSVR similar to Oculus/Vive?
PSVR is half the price of Oculus/Vive?

Temping at this price point. Any good demo video to show how immersive the resolution is?

    • +7

That's like asking for a video showing you how good an OLED tv is, then watching the video on a VHS cassette.

      • +1

LOL this. So accurate. Username does NOT check out :P

    • +1

When I first bought PSVR, I did experience pretty bad motion sickness after 30-60mins of gaming while standing.

However, sitting and watching YouTube or other "videos" for 1 hour+ doesn't seem to affect me.

      • +1

        What kind of other videos?

        • +2

          Google "littlstar psvr" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

        • @daewoo: why thank you sir.

        • @daewoo: on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the immersion factor?

Not sure if I'd be doing much gaming tbh…

        • +2
    • -4

PSVR will give you a lot more motion sickness.

This is mostly due to poor tracking, but also due to the fact that it uses frame interpolation to double the frame rate to make it smoother.

Oculus/Vive is 90fps and has proper 360 degree accurate tracking and most people can play it comfortably.

      • I felt awful after about 30 mins on Vive.

        • -1

Well you would feel even more aweful on the PSVR.

Assuming the person demoing the vive to you hadn't messed something up or had an old PC, that can make you feel sick too.

        • @samfisher5986: TPCast should be available in Aus soon so wireless VR gaming is nearby (its out overseas at the moment).

    • +1

Depends on the person; people say that the luge game in the "Worlds disc" effects them - doesn't me, but the "Scavengers Odyssey" throws me and some friends in about 5 mins!

Other games have been great; Work simulator, Lethal VR.

Some of the other space demos; Eve and Call of Duty have been hit-and-miss on sickness.

Personal tip - have a fresh blast of air on your face; ala Disneyworld VR type rides where its cooling, if I have a fan on/aircon blowing it doesn't effect that much.

    • I wouldn't say it's half the price.

I paid $570 delivered for my Rift

      • How is the Rift? Any buyers remorse?

        • Quite the opposite. It's way better than I expected

  • Out of curiosity can I use this with PC VR games?

    • Nope

    • +2

Not entirely although https://www.trinusvirtualreality.com/psvr/ is making great inroads.

    • Short answer yes, long answer it's not good (PSVR owner who hooked it up to PC using Trinus)

It will improve, but by that time Vive / Rift should be a more palatable price

  • Yeesh! Tempting, but I too will wait to see what happens after X-Mas.

  • +1

I want to get the farpoint. But the under $100 deal is gone. What a pity!

  • Current PSplus games for this month has a free VR game, Rigs I think it's called ( mech suit type game)

    • its included in this bundle as well but only as a demo lol. PS Plus offering is great for this deal!

      • +1

That says Demo disk, so I assume not the full game is supplied with the pack.

    • It's really fun, but not the best title to newcomers, mainly because there's so much movement that it causes motion sickness for some people which might probably turn them off. They should have offered Playstation VR Worlds instead imo.

  • +1

    Bought! thanks guys!

  • +2

I don't know why people are defending the Rift and Vive over PSVR so strongly, I played the vr demo of serious sam on Vive and it was fun.. but barely mind blowing

At the end of the day its all just video games, it's not 'life like step in another world' like people try make it out as

    • -1

They are difference experiences. I wouldn't say playing serious sam on the vive is a very good indicator of the differences.

You can also say Phone VR is the same if you use the right material to compare.

    • Actually on my Rift with touch and 360 degree room scale it really does feel like stepping into another world in some experiences

  • Is there anywhere someone can try out the different VR platforms?

    • +1

Umart or the ITshop if there are any where you are.

  • Any standalone deals available on this (just PSVR?)

    • +1

Not unless you want refurbished for $387.35

The previous cheapest Aus deal for PSVR by itself was $444.91 in July, the same price as this deal. The PSVR is $549.95 by itself on EB Games website, the same price as this bundle which is discounted from $629.95 to $549.95 (think there is some promo on atm), before the further 20% off on eBay. If EB games listed PSVR by itself on eBay it'd be the same price as this bundle anyway most likely. You'd probably be best grabbing this and selling off the game and camera, or trade them in? The camera is $78 at Target and game $39 at JB seems the cheapest in stores at the moment.

  • I only have a pretty small space, would this work fine?

    • +1

As long as you can sit/stand approx 2 meters from your TV you'll be fine. The PSVR has lots of wires so you can only use it a certain distance from the TV and Console anyway.

    • I stand roughly 1.0~1.5m from the TV myself, works fine after you calibrate it.

    • I'm pretty sure that doesn't qualify for a neg..

        • -1

          Y u mad tho?

  • Tried nearly 2 hours and it always returned the error "This code can't be applied to your order."

    • Have you got an Australian registered Paypal account and does your Paypal and eBay email address match? That's the most common issue with the code not applying on these eBay deals. Check your main registered post address that it's AU. Otherwise eBay support should be able to assist.

      • Thanks. It is all gone anyway. I can't see any issue with my Paypal and Ebay account, and I have used this kind of 20off or 15off codes several times before.

  • Sold out :(

    • More than 10 available / 45 sold.

They've added more, get in quick though. Good deal, I'm $450 poorer now.

      • Yeh it does but there's no way to add to cart or checkout? :(

  • I have PS3 move wands - is there a secondary market for me if I want to sell them?

  • Sold out! :'(
What are the odds they will restock it before the sale ends on the 20th?

    • Well it seems that they pulled the listing themselves so I would imagine it was a mistake and it won't go up again until after the code expires unfortunately :(

      • I bought at 2pm today (tues 12th). Listing gone again now :(

    • was back in stock briefly today but gone again (tues 12th)

  • Thanks hamza, always sharing the best deals with us

  • Also looking at the listing some scummy re-seller bought 5…

  • Back in stock!!! I purchased today. Wooohooo

    • It's not back in stock, listing was made 1030am this morning and listing was ended 12 Sep, 2017 15:30:42 AEST and no new listings since this morning.

      • Aaaghhh sold out again!
        I bought at 2pm.

        • Ah I see, yeah it's been sold out since 330pm unfortunately. We'll see if it comes back tomorrow.

  • +1
