Keep in mind you need a PS4 Camera to use this

    • Very good point. I picked up one of these for $76.91 delivered (same eBay seller, same coupon code).

I've got a PS VR i haven't used in 6 months gathering dust.

paid $549 when it came out… is it worth the money.. not 100% sure.. but its something everyone needs to try once in their lifetime.. it really is something very cool and impressive! At this price it's great. i dont regret buying it at all.

My PS4 has been collecting dust for years, I spend more time doing software updates on it rather than actually playing it.

I was very impressed by VR Worlds (as a VR demonstration) and Farpoint (once it's back in stock).

Er … OK but the way you put it made me think I'd regret paying 550 bucks.

He's waiting for real AAA content to be developed for the platform.

I own an HTC Vive and feel the same way. I put in a lot of hours and it's completely surreal and the way forward with gaming - but the tech needs further refinement, the costs need to come down, graphics hardware needs to get a lot better + cheaper too, and they need to ship more units so that developers have $$$ incentive.

Take early flat screen SD 40" plasma tech for example. People were paying 10k for a TV that is now not even going to be picked up on a hard rubbish day. I don't think they regretted purchasing it even if they didn't use it much and a few years later they got a 65" UHD for 1/10th the price.

  • So tempted. Anyone know if there's a difference between standard PS4 and a Pro when using VR?

    • +7

The PS4 Pro is meant to have slightly better graphics rendering.
      * If you don't own a PS4 and plan on using VR, definitely opt for the pro model.
      * If you already own a PS4, however you are not a Westpac Grad driving a Merc, I couldn't justify the marginal improvement :)

      • Thanks for the reply. Is it that big of an improvement? Only have standard PS4. Wish I could try it before forking out all that money.

        • +3

I've tried it on a standard PS4 and I was happy. However, you are speaking with someone who bought a NES classic…

      • haha Westpac grad driving a Merc. I still chuckle.

  • I'm waiting for this, the camera and a game (something better than VR Worlds) for under $500 like the deals that were around a few months ago except the game was always VR Worlds.

  • Mine is also gathering dust. Used it maybe 3 times. Big, bulky, hot. Not at all a good experience. And you have to be a certain distance from TV. Be warned you might need to rearrange TV room to use it.

They told us we can visit other planets…
They told us we can become whoever we want…
They told us we can teleport wherever we want…

But they didn't tell us we have to rearrange the furniture first.

    Is this real

    • There's nothing here it's all a dream!

      • I used to read Word Up! magazine.

  • +2

Nah. No big budget titles. Sony needs to put in more development effort

  • Awesome deal!

  • The 'motion' sickness is real with VR.
Many for second hand sale because people can't handle it
    Just warning

    • Yes with PSVR, never experienced any type of motion sickness with Oculus Rift however.

    • I GET worse 'motion' sickness from being in the back seat of someones car.. lol i did get a little bit from some of the space games after a while but it goes away quick once you stop.

  • I sold mine a month ago. Played a total of 4 hours maybe on the unit. The impressive thing about the ps vr is that it can maintain a high refresh rate (100+)despite its obvious limitation (so no judder). I have both rift and vive also and the level of comfort on psvr is next level (weight is distributed on the top of tour head instead of the side of your face like vive or rift.

The main obvious drawback for me is that it is more blurry on the ps vr compared to the pc based counterpart which is understandable. The reason i sold was the lack of content though.

  • So that from eb….. Brand new 2nd hand?

If anyone gets this.. Buy superhot.. Such a fun game

    • So because you think it's a dust collector that makes this deal bad?

    • You should probably read the rules here before you go any further.

  • Can you watch 360 videos without the PS cam?

    • +1

      Yet to try ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • waiting till this is like $300

  • Good price on the headset but once you account for the cost of the camera it adds up.

Hard to justify buying this piece of tech right now as there's not really many games for it, just overpriced tech demos. I played the Batman game which only took about an hr to finish and was an 'okay' experience. It's basically just headtracking headset with a screen taped on. The most impressive thing to me was the Wii nunchuck style controllers for it and how they came up as hands in the game, I found that kinda fun just grabbing random objects and throwing them around.

    Worth a try I would say but I don't think it's worth $500+

    • I think there's a number of great games on it now that are longer than an hour. SuperHot, Arizona Sunshine, Farpoint, Rush of Blood, Resident Evil 7, Thumper, Rez Infinite, RIGS just to name a few of the top of my head. I'm also waiting for a significant price-drop, but not because I don't think it's worth the price, just a bit strapped at the moment.
