    Cheers

  • Wish I had my own Fräulein to celebrate Oktoberfest with.

    • +3

      You've got 'ein hund'. I'm sure he'd share a brat with you…

      • +2

        You've got 'ein hund'.

There's an old saying that goes: A scab ein hund means you've been watching German porn.

  • +13

Bratwurst: made from ground up kids who have a feeling of entitlement. 😀

  • +5

    the wurst is the best!

  • Has anyone actually tried any of this stuff and what's it like?

    • +4

How to word this?? I've had pretty much all of their sausages <insert giggle here> and thought they were are pretty good. As a bonus, nearly all the German snags are great options for low carbers. The Sauerkraut was pretty good as well, although I'm no foodie or serious Germanophile.

    • +4

It's really not that bad :) Plus - they're mostly made in Germany! It's the one sale I wait for every year.

Also, from personal experience (don't ask, it was a sad 3 months of my life) that alkoholfrei Hefe-Weissbier is in the top 2 or 3 alc-free beers i've tried. Don't make me name the others - it's too painful

      • I can't find made in Germany. Bought 3 packs all made in Australia.

    • Thanks to you both, might try some.

      • +1

I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially at this price point since they are nearly half the price of similar products from the main supermarkets or boutique/market stores.

  • Im still salty that they stopped selling the chorizo :/

    • My local still has them.

      • Ditto, grabbed some yesterday.

        • Did Ditto buy some?

    • The chorizo's still salty too

    • They changed the chorizo a couple of times and made me feel sick. I tried it again because I couldn't believe it was the chorizo….and it was. So now, I don't care that the chorizo is gone….

Oh nice. It might make it my while going to aldi for once.

    • +7

      You could do würst…

  • more like sausage fest

    • with beer and hangover, just make sure you put it in the right place ~~

"Hefe-Weissbier German Beer 500ml $2.49ea" is Paulaner (which is good) but non-alcoholic (which makes it not beer).
Will they have proper beer this year? Usually they do.

  • I'll stick with my Smallgoods place Sausages, but I might have to get some of that kraut!!

    • +1

Let's get sauer on that kraut!

  • +1

Paulaner is very good. I have bought it before from Aldi. You always see people buying loads.

    • Where is the normal "alcoholic" Paulaner??

    • I bet that they don't buy loads of the non-alcoholic variety.

  • I wonder if the sauerkraut is with live cultures? The jar looks like perhaps it's for refrigeration. Anyone know?

    • +3

      shelf stable = dead
Real kraut rocks. and is super easy to make.

      • Can you make me some :)

      • cheers, I'll look into.

  • +1

    No pumpernickel?

  • +1

    Vielen dank

  • Never understood why people would write gm (like gigametres?) instead of the simple g.

    • +1

i'd pay $3 for 300 gigametres of sausages

      • That'd reach to the Sun and back. Wikipedia:

Earth's average distance from the Sun is 149.6 Gm, also referred to as 1 astronomical unit.

        • Yeah, Aldi really think their stuff over.

  • +2

So Aldi have the wurst sausages

  • I didn't know that carrot and celery salads (with probably vinegar) could be classified as German salad…I was thinking about potato salad.

  • +3

been waiting for this again. i'm dangerously low on weisswurst

    • +1

      living life on the edge

      • genau!

  • I can't wait for Aldi's Scotchtoberfest.

    • +2

      Ya used me Skinner!

      • +1

One must follow Simpsons quotation etiquette and use Skinner's line. You can't just skip ahead to the Willie line.

        • +1

I wasn't going to let you be Willie.

  • Lecker! Try the peanut puffs, they're popular in Germany for parties and movie nights

  • Grab the white asparagus real quick. It's always sold out on the first day.

  • +1

Try this people: buy the weisswurst, the sweet mustard, the pretzels, and the weissbier. Have for breakfast when you are feeling festive (maybe on grand final day). It's the bomb.

    • +1

      A traditional Bavarian breakfast

  • JA! JA!

  • Damn, no Hofbräu Dunkel :(

  • WTF, I've been to 3 Aldis today around 6pm, and none of them got any German beer left on the shelves. NOT A SINGLE BOTTLE or CAN. Had I known I would have taken a few hours off in the morning just to drive up to the store and stock up on bloody beer.

    • The 5L party kegs never made it to NSW stores.. some supplier issue.. so they are still on their way. Might be your chance.

      • I managed to buy 2x5L kegs today at Aldi North Sydney
