Jesus great price on the v20

  • +13

    So tempting…I don't need new phone..I don't need new phone…I don't need new phone…I don't need new phone….I don't need new phone…I don't need new phone…I don't need new phone

    • +6

      … and bought

      • +1

        Naah…waiting for 20% off deal..

        • +2

Waiting for the 100% off deal

        • Yeah the same here. I hope i don't miss out.

    • I think you might need a new phone.

  • So tempted for the LG V20 for the price. LG V30 is so close to come into the market with significant improvement in most front except no replaceable battery and second screen.

  • My cousin has the V20, its a very good phone and for that price its a very good buy.

    • +1

I am using V20 since Nov16. My phone is so slow now….
I don't have many APP and not playing any game.

      • +2

        YEah I have a v20, I hate it compared to the g4.

Its very buggy and the camera sucks. My G4 was way better. much faster, better camera, less buggy. Except it died from bootloop.

        • Really? I thought specifications wise it is supposed to be better in every way, except perhaps the cameras. My G4 also died with the bootloop problem and is getting repaired, but I was considering this V20 as an upgrade. What you are saying makes me have second thoughts. Anyone else able to compare G4 and V20?

        • @jakentta:

Spec wise its better. But in day to day use its a piece of crap. Always crashing, laggy and every morning i wake up it's locked up for some reason and takes like a minute for the screen to turn on and half the time ive just gotta take the battery out to unfreeze it. Honestly don't buy it. Ive had mine for like 2 months and am already looking for another phone.absolute piece of crap

  • LG G6 - for about $575 (aussie stock with aussie warranty, after 15% off and TRS refund as I am travelling soon)… or LG v20 for 357$?!

So hard to decide… leaning towards the V20 and then could almost replace next year…

    • which seller? i'm looking to travel to, need an aussie stock for salary packaging

    • What does G6 trumps over V20, other than cpu/ram.

      • +1
        1. Better screen size to overall phone ratio (smaller bezels)
        2. Slightly better battery
        3. I think better waterproof/dust rating
        4. Aussie warranty

Biggest con is the $200 price different - probably not worth it

        • 5 left now !

          arrgghh…

        • @phunkydude: I think I am going to go with the G6 in the end. The V20 is bigger than my old Moto X style, while the G6 shaves mm on all aspects… the in hand feel is worth the difference for me ! (and I had an LG G4 with bootloops… so 2 years local warranty gives me peace of mind :))

        • @phunkydude: and its out of stock @ $357… been wanting to get back into an LG, out of the 5 android phones i've had in the last 5 years the G2 was easily my favourite

        • @pingponged: Back in stock

        • @dstambou:

I had LG G6 and I dislike it so much I sold it within a month and got V20 when it was on another eBay sale.

The G6 screen is cool, but apps are not optimised as good as they are on Galaxy S8. You get a black bar on top and bottom when you use most app and if you stretch it, the content looks a little weird and cut off.

The phone is somehow very clunky (very unLG to me) and the camera is really really average. And it ger frozen and shut itself down and won't turn back up on day 1. I had to boot into recovery mode to being it back up somehow.

LG V20 on the other hand is a completely different story, the phone is fluent and the camera is better and sharper somehow. It's the LG I remembered.

Maybe just me having a bad luck with the G6, but even without any flaw, I don't think I will choose g6 over V20 for the price difference…

        • How about the camera?

        • @bagachin:
Aghhh, the camera was what I was looking forward to the most :(

My budget is 500 and below and it looked like the G6 was the best performer. Obviously we cant all get Galaxy S8s :(

        • @TheOneWhoGotAway:

Camera is better on v20 in my opinion. Focus faster and better result. I think it's because of the superior sensor on the V20.

  • There's going to be a few unwanted cases available for the Pixel from this deal.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/329023?utm_source=subscrip…

  • Wow, good price for pixel

    • what's so good about the pixel, other than prompt updates & supports from google.

the camera focusing issue still persists or fixed ?

      • +3

It's a flagship phone with pure android with most frequent updates and longest support. It's up to you whether that's worth extra cash. It's a fantastic phone but if the LG G6 satisfies your needs then get that phone. Ozbargain is not the best place for technical advice and recommendations, don't listen to the hivemind :)

        • Unlimited photo uploads to ur Google drive account

        • pure android + fast updates + much cheaper = nokia ?

      • Pure Android is best..Just bought new phone S 7 3 months ago, because pixel too expensive.if it was price like now, will buy pixel instead

  • Pixel 2 announcements on OCT 12th, everybody sell pixel gen 1 stock, lel.

    • even then there will be better options out there

    • +1

Pixel 2 will be disappointing though. No headphone jack and overpriced.

      • We'll see, also more info on RED's hydrogen one soon, then i'll decide what i want…

        • The Hydrogen phone probably won't be coming out until next year, and maybe may not even make it to Australia. Even if you buy it from the USA or AU, it will probably be close to what you're going to be paying for the iPhone X outright (I dont think any carrier is going to have it on a contract here).

        • It would be more sadly… :(

          256GB X is $1830, vs $2000 for the titanium Hydrogen…

      • I must have missed the time machine deal that was posted on here.

  • Note there is a slight difference between the H990N and H990DS, not sure if it matters too much.
Cat 12 LTE (600/150Mbps) for the H990DS, and Cat 6 LTE (300/50Mbps) for the H990N.

    Also a band comparison here

Honestly not sure why the speeds would be any different in the first place, as the SD820 by default supports Cat 12 LTE, but just some information i thought to share.

  • On the V20 here (Aussie stock).

Cameras could definitely be better, although, the telephoto lens is decent in good lighting conditions.

Audio is still #1 out of any phone (excluding V30 - unsure how that compares but doubt it's bad).

It does get slow from time to time but it's generally okay - the culprits were some Xiaomi apps, by the way. The phone usually hovers on 3GB Memory utilisation.

It's running well after making some changes and stopping apps from running and I can't see a need to upgrade. It's feature packed.

It's a great price for $357. Snapdragon 820, dual cameras and best audio.

    • What is the battery like?

      • Pretty bad.

I'm a heavy user, though but i barely make it through half a day

        • I found the battery much better than my G4.

But, the camera is much worse. A really bad camera for a newer phone model. Also I've found it to be very buggy. Random freezes, crashes and sometimes the screen freezes. I would never buy it again.

        • @tonytone:

Yep, this is my experience. Camera really isn't good. It's good enough but it's a step down.

It makes me want to get the V30 as that camera looks absolutely fantastic.

        • +1

Hi guys, please see the following for ported camera apk's: xda

No root required, and some great results.

        • @simtmb:

Mate that link is for nexus and pixel phones, does it work with the v20 as well?

        • @f1ng3rs: Yep, works just fine. I'm using the 6P one.

  • +1

If anyone is planning to get the HTC U11, I recommend getting the Solar Red. It will change the way you see phone colours.

I bought a Nexus 5X of these guys. It died after 10 months and they were not interested in helping. I couldn't get a response at all. I now buy from Aus companies.

  • +1

LG V20 back in stock (10 available) $357.

  • thanks op. Was about to purchase one last night for a higher price. Will be a big upgrade going from Samsung Galaxy Mega to this.

  • -2

The HTC U11 64GB version seems to be $404 which is quite comparable to the price of the LG V20, is there a reason only the 128gb is the only one ever mentioned?

    • Do you have a link for HTC U11 64GB? I couldn't find any. 64GB version is $999 at JB Hi-Fi, $404 sounds too cheap.

      • Nvm, sorry just realised its the Ultra

        • Ah that phone is a HTC U Ultra, different phone than this HTC U11. That came out before the HTC U11.

          Comparison

It's slightly older, Snapdragon 821 instead of the newer 835 in the HTC U11. Not too familiar with the U Ultra and what else is different, I know it has a second display though. That still looks like a good price though, previous deals had the U Ultra at $999 for Aus stock or $785 for grey import just 4 or 5 months ago. For $250 or so less it might be worth considering depending on what you are after.

Edit: This might be a good read

        • @hamza23:
Which would you recommend between the LG V20 and the HTC Ultra, in your own personal opinion?

        • @suprnewb:

I think there are others here much more qualified to answer that than me, having not used the HTC Ultra or LG V20 at all.

          HTC U Ultra $404.60 vs LG V20 $357.

          Jan 2017 vs Sep 2016
          SD 821 vs SD 820
          64GB/4GB vs 64GB/4GB
3000mAH battery (fixed) vs 3200mAh battery (removable)
No headphone jack vs headphone jack
          Both no waterproofing

The LG V20 seems to review better, seems to be indifferent takes on the U Ultra. No headphone jack may be an issue for some. It's a little older but V20 $50 less might be the better choice, not much love for the U Ultra in general and there's usually a reason for that. Camera wise V20 seems good but might struggle a bit in low light most say. U Ultra might be better for camera but reading different opinions, some say it's great some say it's problematic.

        • @hamza23: I'll probably go for the V20. I found it odd that the Ultra was replaced by the U11 so quickly which puts me off a bit.

          Cheers for the help

        • @suprnewb:

Yeah it's bizarre, they didn't even give it a chance.

  • Ex iOS user and have loved the move to android with my LG g4. Since the bootloop rave I've been stressed about my phone and think I should have a backup phone. This v20 looks perfect.

I've traded size for practicality and wacked an 8200mah battery in my g4 and it's been the best practical phone since my 3210. I'm already looking at purchasing the zerolemon 10000mah battery for the v20 but I'm tossing between v20 and g6 for this yrs flagship, only problem is battery life.

Does any of the 3rd party battery manufacture make batteries and you case on sealed waterproof phones? Eg s8, g6, I don't care for the waterproof factor.

  • I was about to pull the trigger on the v20 but they increased the price by $10 (now $365.50 after coupon) with 2 units left. I was in the last checkout screen before it kicked me out and informed me that the seller has made some changes.

    • Really… $10 killed the deal for you?

      • Sounds silly I know.. But I'm not in desperate need of a phone so I'll happily wait for another deal. Hopefully whoever got the last 2 will be happy with their purchase!

        • Yeah fair enough… I'm in the same boat. On a Nexus 5 and the only thing letting me down is battery life, after years of use of course. So I'll also wait. I'm looking at the V20, G6 or even S7.

  • Can all v20 bootloader be unlocked? Unlike the g4 h815 tw?

  • +1

v20 back in stock now but at $365.5 (i think)

    • Thanks, they have an annoying habit of raising prices slightly as phones sell out then get restocked. Might be automated.

      • all good - i bought one at 365.50 :D

couldn't make my mind up yesterday quick enough, slept on it, i can deal with the extra few bucks and it's still cheaper than the silver one :)

  • Ordered one on Friday, it came on Monday. Insane shipping time and such a great price!

    • Nice… this is the V20? Did DWI update the order status on eBay as sent with tracking number?

I ordered a different phone from them on Thursday night… no updates yet… grr…

      • Interested also, bought the V20, still hasn't arrived.
Ordered on the 17th Sept, ETA is 22nd-28th Sept. I suppose there's still time left for arrival, but it's weird that it said it was delivered and then signed by me.

        • My HTC U Ultra was delivered today, expected delivery was 21st to 27th.

My tracking nubmer had two consignments linked to it (one was from 2015 and one was the correct one). Maybe check if you have the same issue if it's showing signed?

        • @hweita: Nope, showing up as recent. ETA is up now, still wondering where it could be.
Tracking said it was delivered on the 20th.

edit: starting to think my room mate stole it, it's happened before, wouldn't think they would steal something that costs over $300 though.

  • Hey Hamza, might be worth chucking in the G5 Plus also for $258.40. Seems like an awesome price.

    • Thanks but is in a previous deal, see here.
