  • How much better is this than one of the popular $3 Cree torches?

While they're very good, I'm looking for something with some decent throw.

    • This is a UV torch.

      • Oops, ok thanks.

  • Anyone knows how these torches compare to this ?

Its a AUD9 51LED UV torch. Looking to nuke fishing/Egi lures in the shortest possible time

    • I actually have that exact UV torch and it isn't REAL UV light and produce UVB. Also the torch is flimsy and doesn't always turn on.

This torch produce real UV in the wavelength of 365nm.

EDIT: You can watch the linked review video and it explains it better.

      • So does that mean that the Convoy S2 will nuke the heck out of lures faster?

        • Sorry I don't fish, so can't help you there. But this flashlight is one of the best UV flashlight on the market and using Nichia 365UV LED. Just note they that require 18650 batteries.

        • Ok thanks….. bought.

Mixed feelings, I feel all at once, gratitude and hate!

        • @X3: Just note you need a 18650 battery and a charger as well.

        • @RichardL:

Yeah roger that, thanks - have heaps of 18650 batteries, and a charger.

Speaking of which, Gearbest - any good deals on a real good 4 - 8 bank 18650 charger that also displays mAh of each battery?

        • @X3: Let me update the post with one.

        • @X3: Updated with the Nitecore D4

        • @RichardL:

Can I use sony vct4's in this?

        • @bti_jet: I don't see why you can't since it is a 18650 battery.

        • @bti_jet: Not an expert but Im guessing it depends on the amt of space in the torch. Some tops of 18650 batteries are flat and some are not.

  • Can I use this as a normal torch or just for UV light applications?

    • +1

This flashlight only has UV. Convoy S2 also makes a normal variance.

  • Any chance that u have the D4 with AU plug? (only EU and US plugs showing up in the link) Using adaptors for plugs gets old real fast….

Hopefully there's stock in the morning, will check back then. Thanks

    • +1

These uses a Figure-8 Plug that you might already have from old electronic or can be purchased from Officeworks for $4.50

      • Officeworks one review sucks though.

        • I personally haven't purchased the OW one, as I have a few around the house from old electronic (eg. radios, CD players, printers etc).

        • 2nd hand shops…

  • any code for the car light cree leds like but not exactly. or work lights, drl, side marker lights and lightbars

    • Sorry rarely see Light Bars on special

Zapals also have the charger for $21.40AUD delivered, not sure if its the same, says a newer version of i4, not sure of any differences etc. I could be 1000 miles off the mark though.

    • D4 has the display that shows battery information, the i4 only had light indicator.

      • Thanks, knew there had to be a difference :).

      • Other than that are there any other differences?

        • +1

The D4 comes with a slow charge function which is gentler for smaller capacity batteries.

  • Does GearBest have the worst dispatch time ever, or am I just super unlucky every time I order from them?

Purchased the Nitecore D4 Battery Charger on 3/10/17, page listed it as dispatch on 4/10/17. Yet still listed as "Packed" today 7/10/17. Anyone actually had the status update to shipped so far for the Charger?

If this continues how I expect it to, it will be my third PayPal refund due to never delivering.

    • It can be very hit and miss. Some stuff gets shipped out in abt 2 days and if you're lucky, u get it in less than 3 weeks. If not, over 4 weeks.

Just start a ticket as a reminder and see what they say, they usually reply within a couple of days

      • Thanks. After a week of waiting I've put in a ticket like you've suggested. Let's see if this gets any traction with them.

  • Ridiculous from Gearbest, I ordered D4 charger on 27 September as priority mail and the item is still not shipped. Already, filed a ticket and they replied with “Good news, we have item in stock and will dispatch soon”, seriously?

Should have just paid $5 extra and bought it from eBay.

    • Not sure if this is going to may you feel better, or worse. However mine was (apparently) shipped today, so hopefully that means they just bulk sent the D4 orders out. Admittedly my tracking number has no events yet, so it may be sitting in the corner of a factory somewhere still, but it is progress I guess.

They did also get my postage address wrong (missing my apartment number), so there is that…

      • just bulk sent the D4 orders out

Yeah I got the notification just after posting this comment and contacting the GearBest rep on OzB. Our of curiosity, did you pay for priority mail? I am more annoyed due to the fact that it was suppose to be priority mail!

PS. This is my second order with them in last 6-8 weeks and I receive nothing yet. Admittedly, the first order was not priority mail.

        • Yeah, I purchased Australia Priority Mail, was something like $1.70. No idea of it was worth it, but from what I've heard their unregistered mail can take months.

I cancelled my last two orders from GearBest and forced a refund via Paypal, so I decided to go the cheapest option with tracking because I know they sell products out of stock or take ages dispatching. Postage with them is really just about proving they've sent it in my opinion. Doesn't really mean you'll get it quicker or that you'll get it at all.

  • The D4 using code: cf57am is coming up as expired, is it working for anyone else?

    • The code has expired.
