  • I just had a look at the apple website, and you can get the same ipad for $329 directly from them. Is that the same model or am I missing something?

  • +1

Ordered. Thanks. I don't mind giving few bucks more to aussie seller than overseas

  • Ordered. Any deal on a good ipad case?

    • -4

It comes in a sturdy box…

  • +2

Thanks, bought one for my grandniece. Wouldn't accept both codes on the mobile but worked perfectly on the desktop.

    • If your niece is under 5 or 6 then I'd suggest the EVA foam case. I found an awesome butterfly one a few years ago for an ipad air and it is kid proof and a great stand. Its been dropped, rolled down the stairs, etc and not a scratch on it.

Aliexpress is where I found mine.

  • Looking to the future, the next 2 years or so. I need to get an iPad sorted soon so do I buy this now for $380 delivered, or do I go for an Optus 10.5" 4G 256Gb Pro for a total of about $1440? This is nice and cheap, but overall is the the 10.5 Pro a wiser buy?

    • +4

What do you do with your iPad? To me $1440 for an iPad is madness.

      • For $1440 (or so) I get 2Gb data per month over two years and the latest and best iPad, without the bulk of the 12.9". It will be a company purchase so totally deductible and be good for overseas travel with a local SIM. We all know how much better the 10.5 Pro performs against the 2017 9.7, and I currently have a (supplied) Air 1 which is okay but not overly insipiring. The question is, do I buy another potentially uninspiring 2017 iPad cheaply, or get a much better product for about 3.5 times more and ultimately feel more satisfied with the purchase?

        • +3

if you don't use all the potential of an iPad pro then I think it is not worth the extra. 2Gb of data pm can get from any provider. The question you should ask yourself is: is the bigger/better screen and better hardware(processor etc) worth the extra. In two yrs time, I believe the 2017 will be still capable of running common app/games

        • As legelas said, it really depends on your needs.

In my case, this replaces my partner's 5 year old iPad 4 32GB (Wifi+mobile) that is used in domestic context. When overseas, connectivity is combination of hotel Wifi, local SIM in my dual-SIM Android or local 4G router rental.

  • Is 32GB enough if you are into games and apps on ipad?

    • I think you can get by if you only have the apps on your ipad. If you plan on having other files on your ipad like movies and music, you will have to use cloud storage or get the 128GB model.

  • High school kid's iPad sorted. Thanks OP.

Recommend a laptop if it's within budget - School IT guy.

      • +1

Definitely. Got one already. iPad is a must have item for the school list. Thanks for the recommendation by the way.

  • U can just use a lightening USB stick if you want extra space it's pretty cheap.

  • Could be a noob question, why is TGG offering circa 20% off since rarely do you get more than 10% off RRP on apple? Is there a new iPad coming out? Gold colour not popular?

    • Is there a new iPad coming out?

We're 6 months from release, so 6 months from the next model.

      Gold colour not popular?

It's the least popular colour with Space Grey being the most popular, IIRC.

I've heard (rumour) that Apple make retailers buy an equal amount of each colour. This would lead to a build up of stock of the least popular one over time, so at a guess, I'd say TGG are clearing out stock of the gold.

I'd prefer the space grey, but for $50 I can live with the gold.

      • Agree, once you put on the case you wouldn't know what colour it was. Now need to get one.

  • Looking for a case now. What's is this iPad called? Ipad 6?

  • Cant find any local stock in Sydney suburbs auburn btown went to officeworks auburn said they will only price match the IPAD10 and take 5% so $401 ……… worth?

Oh and they werent phased about the color so you can get it in grey

    • yes it is. The gold from TGG is completely sold out, you can't buy it at the price $372 anymore.

  • Page not found.

"Sorry, we can’t seem to find the page you’re looking for."

  • GOLD GONE

  • Now showing "Sorry, we can’t seem to find the page you’re looking for" I was lucky as I got one about 30 minutes ago. Ordered for delivery and paid the $8 but no confirming email received yet.

    • Yep, seems to be gone from the web page. Just as I was about to buy it!

  • I am about to pick one up in the store, why is the page not working now?

    • All Gone?

  • Same here can't order online anymore

  • Crap! Gonna go in store and they decide to take the page offline :(

    • Use the email screenshot that OP has linked.

  • Sorry, we can’t seem to find the page you’re looking for.
You might find it on one of these useful pages.

    Too late she cried

  • Called officework and Harvey Norman this morning and even tried Harvey Norman online, all of them refused to price match the iPad. And my local good guy store sold out the iPad!

  • Anyone have any luck at JB Hi-Fi for price matching?

  • I have tried Harvey and Officeworks and neither will price match

  • Page for the 32GB silver model is still up, says it's available with 10% off (code IPAD10).

  • +1

    YAY Finally received email.

  • +1

I received the following email this morning:

    Good Morning,

Thank you for your recent purchase.

Unfortunately we are currently out of stock on this item and has been advised that stock is 4-6 weeks away.

Please contact the store and advise if you wish to wait or cancel the order.

    Kind regards

    Admin

    • +3

I got a direct call from my local store. Manager insisted that I cancel the order because stock is weeks away. I said I can wait.

  • +1

If anyone has a deep pocket, they can buy iPad Pro 10.5" wifi 256Gb from following deal, it's from TGG too.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/329756

You pay $1016, save $183 from RRP.

  • Can you still get the deal on other colours?

    • 10% off all ipads, just no extra $50 discount for any other style

  • What does this email I received mean? I dont think im holding my breath on actually getting my Ipad :(

    "Hello,

We've finished reviewing of the transaction below, determined the payment was authorised, and advised the seller to send the item(s).

There might be a slight delay in your delivery due to the review time."

  • Harvey Norman online said their policy is not to price match with the Good Guys until further notice.

I called The Good Guys and they said every store in SA is sold out now.

    • Hey, my order got sent to Mile End which isn't my nearest store.

Anyhoo, got a prompt Phone message and I phoned them back early Sunday AM to advise "I can wait" so all good I can only hope.

Given I opted for delivery, I can see they are filling from local stores where they can and they will probably work out what to do to honor the rest when they have firmed numbers req.

  • Here a receipt from HN price match. Hope it helps someone should they still want one https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/17464/52239/scan.jpg

    • i just called Harvey Norman advised them about the receipt but they still don't price match for me. I live in Tasmania and the guy said interstate has different policy. So disappointing

      • Their only policy is to make up answers on the spot

  • I went to my local TGG and surprise surprise they were out of the 32gb gold iPad. Instead they honored the 10% and $50 off deal on the 128gb iPad. I ended getting it for $489.10 and a $19 cannon printer that I found near the front door.

    • Wow, that's a pretty awesome deal as well. Any chance you would be able to share a copy of the receipt to try and get my / other local stores to also honor the same?

  • +1

ah should've pulled the trigger last night! missed out on the $50 off

    • same here. I'm so pissed off with myself right now

  • +1

    hello .
So i have a coupon that i got from price matching HN but as i m not buying anymore . Anyone feel free to use . Remember it's only valid for another 30mins as of posting .
    Coupon code : IOZPCJCBXWR1IWOZ
    Cheers

    • Gone? It was working for the gold on HN site, then as I checked out it went back to original price, lucky i backed out just in time before payment.

One time use I think? Looks like it's used, thanks anyway mate.

      • yes, it's one-time use only for gold as I price matched it with TGG yesterday.

        • I just tried on live chat and they said TGG offer is on review at HN so they won't price match the offer.

        • @blublu: someone used it :) i did price match yesterday when TGG still have an online stocks.

        • @triplenet: Thanks very much, it was actually me who purchased it. Last minute parents anniversary gift sorted out. Thanks again!

        • @triplenet: OMG just checked and I was actually charged $476! It even showed the price matched value on the PayPal order total :(

        • +1

@triplenet: Spoke to HN and they said they were not supposed to honor this price match. And even then it should not have been used by someone else other than the name the price match code was under. Got refunded but oh well good luck to whoever got it few seconds before me :)

  • +4

I just went in to store at Carseldine and spoke with the guy in the computer and tablet section.
He was more than happy to place an order for me and delivery time within one week.
One thing, they required a full payment before placing the order. Hope that's help.

    • +3

      kudos for him

  • Got an email message from TGG Alexandria NSW "Unfortunately, that particular item is currently out of stock. We will be able to provide further updates early next week."

    • Try and persuade them to switch it to an alternate colour if they cannot fulfill the order in a reasonable amount of time.

      • Have you tried this? I doubt they can simply swap the iPad as it is not advertised.

  • IPAD10 is working, APPLE50 gets accepted but doesn't seem to apply any discount to the cart

  • +1

Are these deals even worth all the hassle? I mean it's just 1 major muck around after they take your money to actually get the item. Is it so hard to have a system in place which doesnt allow orders once stock quantities have been exhausted.

Don't get me wrong I still appreciate the posts and the chance at a bargain! Just saying the retailer should foresee demand before they offer a deal and shouldn't really offer a deal unless they fully intend (and are able) to fulfill all the way through to the end. Otherwise they could just specify a specific quantity at time of sale in the interest of being honest and upfront… or am i just being stupid haha

  • Would anyone have an email regarding this promo?
A Good Guys store in the ACT told me if I can show them the email then they would order one in for me.

    • There's a screenshot of the email in the original post.

      Screenshot

      • Thanks for your response marzbar.
I did try using this image - first they said it was fake then asked me to show them the original email.

  • Im still wondering if my order went through; got email after purchase saying order been received and is now being processed; opted for home delivery; none of my local have got in stock when i placed order; paypal been charged; but have not received email since.

    • Same here, can you please update here if you hear anything from them ?

      • Sure

  • +2

    Email just in:

Thank you for your Web Order.
Unfortunately the item that you have selected is currently out of stock.
We do have this model on oirder [sic] and will of course forward it to you as soon as new stock arrives.

    • Have not received this email; placed my order saturday night 630ish to 7pm; what time did you order?

      • 1:20pm Saturday

        • I'm taking the email is saying they will honour the deal and when stcok arrives they will send to you, though they did not give a time reference

        • @ow: yep, hopefully before I enter a TRS line!

That's not a bad deal if you missed out on TGG offer and do not mind grey import. I guess you can't really go wrong with a grey import iPad. Phones on the other hand…..

      • +1

I am quite happy to pay for grey import items IF I can be sure that they are indeed brand new. There are cases, where the seller sells refurbished items as new. That's my only concern.

        RRP 32GB iPad 2017 in China: RMB2688 (~AUD511)
        RRP 32GB iPad 2017 in HK : HKD2588 (~AUD412)

Assuming Apple gives 10% discount to all retail as their profit margin, cost price for:
        China retail: ~AUD459.90
        HK retail : ~AUD370.80

Anything selling below cost price will incurred a lost to the retailer, not to mention free overseas delivery postage cost.

I will be suspicious, and that's just my 2 cents.

Thanks! Link to the eBay page would have been great.

Offer is still open, go into the store and buy it on back order.

    • Will unexpire the deal - but the item is no longer on the website

Changed my mind and expired again, since the $50 off actually expired today so it might be hit and miss from store to store

      • Expires 11:59pm AEST according to the email. They have more than 370 on back order so I'm not the only one who's done this.

    • +1

Thanks. Just placed order over the phone. Expected to pickup in a month.

  • Works for me. Got one!

  • +1

Mine has been swapped from Gold to Silver w/immediate dispatch.
    (Happy Dance) :+)

    • how did you do that?

      • Well, I tend to more one foot an then t'other… lol

Anyway, TGG phoned me on 4.33pm 16/9 and I missed their call.
They SMS'd me and I returned their call 17/9 (before opening) at 11am Sunday.

TGG Mile End were great, and I got a call today 18/9 offering to migrate me to the Silver (I'm not fussed about the Colour).

Because I'd specified delivery, that is what they are going to do.

        Done (and done). :+)
