  • Is this one good for android phone, S25? I have Sony WF XM5 and it's great except for thumping loud noise while walking/running in the treadmill.

    • +5

they'll work but you wont get full features, eg spatial audio, changing the double tapping functionality, can't check battery level on phone, doesnt have ear detection to pause music etc if you take them out

      • +3

I don't think it is worth buying if you have an Android, but if you get a lot of these features via third-party apps such as MaterialPods or CAPod. Ironically these apps actually offer way more customization options than using the Airpods with Apple devices such as changing the pop theme, changing the AI assistant integration, etc

        • Are you saying that with these third-party apps you can get those features on an Android phone using the AirPods? I feel like the biggest selling point is the comfort in ear of their design vs what else is on the market - the reason why I'm interested in them even though I'm on an Android device.

My Samsung phone came with the Galaxy Bud 2s and I tried a pair of the Jabra ones before that and my issue has always been they don't stay seated in my ear and drive me insane. I know at least with the old cabled apple headphones they were great back in the day which I'm looking at the above.

    • +4

Not worth it for Android phone. You are paying Apple price for some Apple features which you cannot use on an Android phone.

    • +1

I use airpods pro 2 with my s24. I have a macbook to "configure" it but capod restores some functionality.

      No issues.

  • +2

What I suspect is Amazon are doing a bit of price war with JB

  • +2

Such good value. I’ve had a handful of different ear buds over the years and nothing came close to the quality and value these offer.

    • +1

      Standard or ANC version?

      • +11

The ANC version of these is pretty incredible, well worth it IMHO. I can't believe how well they manage to do NC without being in-ears.

      • +1

        The standard version.
I have Bose QC headphones for noise cancelling. Those are my inside and airplane headphones, these are my outside listening to music or taking a phone call headphones.

      • Better check it in store if you can. ANC experience varies from ear shapes.

    • +1

Agree and I’ll add that Apple warranty and service with these has (for me) been incredibly good. Twice I’ve had an AirPod need replacing (first time mic didn’t work in one of them, second time weird loud blip sounds during playback) and after some diagnostics Apple replaced them with no fuss. So now running two brand new AirPods years after the initial purchase. I think this level of product support is worth paying extra for, for Apple ecosystem adherents.

  • AirPods Pro 2 dropped as well

  • +1

    This ANC or pro 2?

    • +2

Easy decision. Do you want in-ear earphone or not?

    • I have Pro 2 and will be getting these because the in-ear is making my ear itchy after wearing them.

      • Try changing the tips to foam tips!

Had a similar issue with Samsung earbuds, but it was just those silicone tips that my ear didn't agree with

        • Any particular foam tips you would recommend?
I like everything about the pro 2 but just not the itchy ears it gives me!

          • +1

@FrugalNotStingy: I used Sonicfoam from Amazon, and I personally feel that they've made my earbuds sound better (probably due to better isolation?)

They have a Small/Medium/Large tester pack, and a SKU specifically for Airpods (reviews say it works for airpods pro 2 as well)

On sale for 15.99 too, so cant really go wrong!

            • @R3STRIKT3D: How long does a pair of Sonicfoam tips last you, on average?

            • +1

@R3STRIKT3D: Thanks mate! Shame they don’t have white to match the AirPods but as long as they won’t irritate my ear canals, I’m in!!
              Off to order them!!

  • Are they as comfortable as the original airpods? I currently have pro and I hate in-ear.

    • Yes and get the anc version

    • Original AirPods fit my ears the best. AirPod Pros aren’t a good fit. These are somewhere in the middle. ANC makes up for the slight misfit in my ears.

    • Not as comfortable as gen1/2, but better than 3 as those were a bit big for me anyways.

These don't bother me though like the 3s and in ear, and have been living with it for about six months. Definitely a step up in sound quality too and the ANC is good!

      • Aren't these the same shape and size as the 3?

        • Nah it's a slight but noticiable change in size and I think shape too

  • AirPods 4 ANC over AirPods Pro 2 any day !

    • +2

How come? I was wondering about this comparison.

  • These new shapes don't fit my ear properly vs the airpods 2 - any solution?

    • +2

Airpods 2 had best fit till date for me. Wish they release airpods 2 as airpods fe.

  • I have both ANC and regular version (thanks Medibank) and they’re both amazing; the sound quality compared to first and second gen AirPods is staggering

  • Finally decided to pull the trigger.
Wondering whether OW will price match Amazon again.

    • -1

They will and I will be going to ask for them to price match when they open tomorrow.

      • +2

Won’t it end up being the same price as using the PayTo discount?

      • +1

They don’t price match Amazon prime and don’t use discount codes for price matches either!!

    • -1

The issue with trying to price match OW is that when they go to check the price and if they are not logged in as a prime member, the price will not show up. Amazon is now basically giving the OW price beat price against JB since JB price match their previous price.

      • -2

Never seen an officeworks employee look up the price themselves… I just have the item/store I want to price beat open on my phone’s browser and show it to them, never been an issue.

    • Officeworks adjusted their price. I just bought one today for $238. At least this was at my local officeworks at Southport in Queensland.

  • Waiting for Airpods Pro 2 deal.

    • They're $275 at the moment with PAYTO5 code, which is pretty good.

      • I get $289. How did you come up with $275?

        • Using PAYTO5 code - looks to be expired now.

  • Anyone know if officeworks will provide the difference?
AirPods purchased 2 days ago. Still sealed.

A return should be easy enough, however it was a gift. Will the receiver be able to return it in store for a refund to original payment method without the credit card present?

    • They didn’t when I tried, because the $287 is for Prime members only.

$305 is non-member price, which is the same price as OW so they wouldn't do 5% price-beat.

You’re best bet is to buy from Amazon with PAYTO 5% off to get it for $275 then return at OW because they have 30 days change of mind return I think.

      • Yeah that’s fair. Thank you

      • +1

Generally the serial number for the airpods is on the receipt. If so, you wouldn't be able to return the Amazon headphones at OW

        • I think he meant return one he purchased from OW back to OW, as price had reduced.

Otherwise he can do an Amazon return and repurchase or ask support chat to refund him the cost.

  • New AirPod will be released in Sep.
Is it still worth getting these old models?

    • +3

That'll be the new pros. The airpod 4 is new to the cycle.

  • $10 cheaper than when I ordered yesterday, ah well

    • its okay buy another one then you'll be only $5 down hehe

      • +1

And grow another pair of ears, so you can wear both pairs at the same time…
