      It does not work directly with ifttt.com . you can get if working directly with other broadlink products, but to get proper ifttt.com things going you need to add in other services eg join and tasked and rmplugin…

          you can get these working by sending packets directly to them (their are python modules that achieve this) - if that interests you/anyone else. Means you can bypass their app completely, and if your worried can block external traffic to/from it.

          edit: and you may then be able interface it with other systems (e.g. openHAB)

          I have mine running via Home Assistant with communication between the black bean and the internet blocked on my router. That said, I found it easier to set them up using the app and then exporting the control codes to HAss than trying to record all of the remote control buttons manually.
