  • Does it come with a tin foil hat?

      No, but Win 10 does come with a free no need to install "ignorance is bliss" package.

      Maybe you know and were just being sarcastic but if this can actually stop forced updates for one thing then the prog is a big plus. One reason I've not installed Win 10 is the uninviting prospect of a forced update to a driver or such crippling either another program(s)or the whole PC.

      If you are blissful see the next comment by syousef as an example of an irritant (rather then a breaker, just Google "win 10 update breaks PC" for the real bad stuff)

      • such crippling either another program(s)or the whole PC.

        Yep, just what happened to me since last weeks update. Now every time the computer goes to sleep, the system gets corrupted and requires a restart

        • Have you tried resetting it? I know the point in all of this is that MS shouldn't send out crippling updates, but would resetting it fix your problem?

      • It was half sarcastic.

        Windows 10 updates can be set to notify and download without installing, my preferred setting, by changing group policy settings. The option isn't shown in the settings tab annoyingly.

        I need to do this for my super hated hp dv7 which hates all but one display driver update for Windows 10 :/

        So I'm more attacking the programs name than anything.

    Wouldn't have minded this before the damn content creator's update hit my laptop. Very annoying that they keep moving things out of the good sensible desktop control panel into that hideous settings app.

    I hear the next update takes out Paint.exe. It was a good basic image editor you could count on being on any version of windows. Why mess with that?

    • What has any of this got to do with the deal?

      • +2

        (re??) read the OP's post.

        • -1

          I have, OP described what the spyware does, syousef is complaining about Windows 10 being different from previous versions.

          @Lorindor:

          Thanks for replying, to spell it out as it appears this has missed you ( no abuse meant)- syousef was complaining specifically about WIN 10 having mandatory updates forced on you at a time of Microsoft's choosing, as the updates have to be "one size fits all" sometimes those updates scramble other programs or certain PC's with a configuration MS's engineers didn't cover in testing…for example video drivers have been updated and the user has no video access all of a sudden, or no sound etc etc or another program has been "broken"…yes in syousef's case it was an irritant rather than a PC killer but in WIN 7, for example, you can delay updates thus allowing early adopters to most likely "find" any faults for you.

          Thus the description "Allows you to control auto updates etc on Win10" is a diamond IMHO.

          No where in syousef's comment did they mention Windows 10 and mandatory updating.

          @Lorindor:

          "before the damn content creator's update hit my laptop"…………it was obvious to me what syousef was referring to with this comment…….the forced update of creator has caused me a problem. It may not be so obvious if you do not know of the full situation.

          See the fresh comment by outlander (thanks) also.

        • @havebeerbelywillsumo:

          Perhaps you are dissecting their comment too much, not everything is as obvious as it seems.

        • @Lorindor:

          What is ambiguous about "before the damn content creator's update hit my laptop"???

          I got an update that turned out to do things I didn't like. With this tool it seems I could have blocked it.
          "Allows you to control auto updates etc on Win10."

          Let it go!

          @syousef:

          Right, so instead of staying up to date with the latest build, which usually includes various security fixes, you wish you could have installed some dodgy German software which probably spies on you more than what Microsoft does!?

        • @Lorindor:

          Ok you're clearly trolling. But I'll bite once.

          Removing the customizations from the control panel has nothing to do with spyware. Nor does removing MS Paint. If the company that legitimately makes the software behaves this way, who needs to corrupt your system?

          It's also interesting that you should say "spies on you more than what Microsoft does". You've kinda laid waste to your own argument there. If by your own admission MS spies on you - and you're right, they do in Win 10, and there are a whole swathe of settings to change if you want to minimize that - your system is already a compromised mess.

          Also your basic comprehension isn't very good. The software isn't Russian. It clearly states in the opening post that the main language is German. I find it highly implausible that Russians are building a tool or spyware with German as the default language.

          Now in all seriousness, stop embarrassing yourself.

          Not in the slightest, you know people can have a difference of opinion then your own and the world still spins, right?

          Removing the customizations from the control panel has nothing to do with spyware.

          You don't say!

          Please proceed to re-read my initial reply, then the title of this deal, and then your original comment again, and let me know when you're done putting all of those pieces together.

          I never once mentioned that any of that is not true, my original comment was in regards to your comment being off topic and irrelevant to the deal, which you just proved with this your last reply.

          Fixed it for you, but at the end of the day, does it really matter?

          My point still stands that the software is probably dodgy and misinformed people such as yourself continue to spread your dribble about Windows as an O/S and how badly you don't like change.

          @Lorindor:

          L as you have replied courteously I will put aside the worry of "am I being trolled here?". It may not suit your view but sousef has clarified his comment and confirmed my reply.

          Bluntly the "Russian" reply does you little credit. Think about what we are both continuing to use.

          I have now "Let it go!" :)

    • They're not removing Paint. They're just not updating it anymore.
