Motortech Brake Cleaner 4 for $10, Gulf Western 10w40 Semi-Syn $16.50 (50% off) + More @ Repco

120

Great price, sells for $8 a can normally and has multiple purposes

Other notable deals
Gulf Western 10w40 Semisynthetic SN grade 5L - (50% off)
Gulf Western 15w40 Diesel oil 12L - $40 (55% off
MechPro 15m Air Hose - $30 (45% off)
All Jockey wheels 40% off
Silverline Rotor + brakepad combo for 2 wheels $100
Bottle jack 1850kg $25

I'm planning on getting some of the brakecleaner to use as a dry cleaning spray, among other things. The oil I would have bought, had I not bought this. The air hose I'm considering chopping the ends off and using as a water hose, as all the hoses I have kink and break too easily, and the good hoses like hoselink cost a fortune. The rotor combo I'm passing on as SCA has bendix brakes 2 for $80, which are superior from what I've heard.

Hope everyone's making the most of their long weekend!

      Degreaser
      Degreaser
      Degreaser
      Brakecleaner
      Degreaser

      :P

    • Never seen it cheap, want some as well.

  • Nice i need a new jockey wheel, my jockeys have been getting unfit since the last one broke!!

  • Anyone thinks that this brake cleaner safe on plastics/rubber/paint?
Got an oil leak near engine, need to clean it to find it.
If its does, I'll just get the 6 for $10 at SCA.

Brake cleaner can damage paint and make rubber and plastic soft and tacky. Brake cleaner is really only good for cleaning metal. Degreaser for everything else.

      • SCA it is, thanks

    • last time it was on special i filled up a box, they didn't complain

      • Great thanks

Even though the oil is GW, being semi synthetic and semi priced its a semi decent deal.

    • +2

Did you just crack a semi over this deal?

      • 😅 no, that happens only with the deals for olive oil.

        • Simmer down, Popeye.

  • How do you apply the brake cleaner? Do you have to remove the wheels or can you spray through the gaps in the rims?

    • brake cleaner is basically a pressurized combination of alcohols and petrolleum based solvents. You spray, it picks up dust and oil, runs to the ground and then evaporates leaving no trace of itself.

Although I've never used brakecleaner to clean brakes, I believe its designed to wash away the brake dust that wears off the pads. You can spray through the gaps if you have one of those red spray tubes, or you can take off the hub caps and spray it that way.

Like others have said above, its good for metal and glass only. It won't dissolve plastic or rubber, but it will weaken them and cause discoloration so its best avoided.
