The price is right! Not sure about the seller (hit / miss).

This time around I went local for the 2 year legit warranty.

    • Best local deal?

      • Not local, grey import. But probably best price atm.

      • I meant its very hard to find Australian phone with the 2 year warranty for a reasonable price.

    • Why? Bought an iPhone 6s and was delivered via DHL in approx 3 days.

      • +1

Bought an iPhone 10 days ago. The order is still "processing".

        • +1

sameboat, ordered the g5 plus. still no news.

  • Would like to know when they'll start selling dual sim note 8s

    • be interesting to see what happens to the 64GB note 8 prices when the Emperor (256GB storage) edition launches in various Asian markets

    • I thought all Note 8s are dual sim? The micro sd slot also functions as a second sim slot.

      • Not the Aussie ones, neither are the ones that they sell on Shop Monk (they are are US/Chinese version with the Snapdragon 835 instead of Exynos).

        • My S8 plus was malaysian and of Exynos variant.

        • @carlJack:

Talking about the Note 8 here, the rep commented on ozb that the Note 8 stock they have are Snapdragon 835s.

        • @knowskillz: Oh.. ok. yeah.. I was unsure about that during 1 Hour ebay deal. I am looking one for my brother and I dont want to get US/Chinese version either. Still waiting for a good offer on Exynos dual sim variant version or maybe even 256 gb one for under 1000$.

        • I did a check and you are right about the Aussie stocks are not dual sim.

The US/China ones shopmonk is selling on ebay does state "single sim or hybrid dual sim". It is a little unclear I guess.

that is a freakin huge drop a few months after release

  • +1

Is this a s8+ ? The description says 6.2" screen.

    • +1

      Screen Size: 5.8 inches (~83.6% screen-to-body ratio)

    • in my phone browser it has the description and specifications of the s8+ and even says "s8+" in the description but on my desktop browser it is the s8.

  • +1

I bought this about 3 weeks ago. Was delivered within 4 days

    • What price was it 3 weeks ago?

    • Are you able to tell me what firmware it's running? Trying to work out if these grey imports will work with telstra wifi calling or not.

    • Is the device brand new? i.e. Does the phone come with security deal intact? Someone complaint Shopping Square selling broken seal stock, with finger prints all over the device.

  • Grey import model, that's why it's cheap.

  • +4

$699 is worth it just for the pleasure of using Bixby! /s

    • +1

Honestly dislike the dedicated Bixby button that can't be remapped

      • +2

+1 I own this phone and wish I'd considered a Pixel instead. Bixby really sucks.

      • +1

can be, there are a few apps for that. it's not seamless, but works.

      • +2

Samsung rolled out an update that can disable the button now if you hate it that much.

      • +1

There was an update a month ago that allowed you to disable the button.

    • Get ad hell and problem solved. Root not even required.

    • Bixby button can be disabled in the latest Bixby update. Hopefully in future in can be remapped (not using 3rd party apps) to something else

    • Actually, in the latest update to the Bixby app which I downloaded/installed yesterday, there is now an option in the settings to turn off the bixby button. Doesn't offer a re-map but at least its better than always accidentally launching Bixby :)

    • Would use it if they called it Bubsy, everyone loves a cat.

  • They say dual SIM. Can anyone please help of any negatives for dual SIM compared to single sim.

    • Pretty sure you will lose the ability to have expandable memory. Bit of googling suggest that the the second sim takes up the slot for the memory card. hope this helps

      • Thank you pulsarlx07. I also tried to google but couldnt find much info.

        • +1

You only lose the expandable memory slot if you have 2 sim cards installed at a time. Otherwise it works like normal with 1 sim and 1 microsd card slot

        • @Brucelamao: thank you.

  • This particular colour has been 699 on shopmonk for the last month ever since the 699 S8 and 799 S8+ specials they were doing.

  • Ok price but you can't beat the $675 S8+ from Never-msrp couple weeks ago. Their DHL shipping is crazy fast too.

    • +1

Managed to snag an orchids gray from qd_au during the eBay birthday sales for 655

  • Prefer local stock with warranty for Samsung.

    • Fair enough but this is still a good deal for a grey import s8.

      • Not really.

This is at least 10% over priced based on past deals.

        • +5

You are right. It has been cheaper in "past" deals, however this is the cheapest available now.

        • @titan0r:

Okay, feel free to go ahead and purchase.

        • @titan0r:
My wife's note 5 grey import battery can't hold a charge after a year and nowhere to go for help. Ended up buying a note 8 from bing lee for her.

    • Depends on where you are I guess. I am in Darwin and have a problematic S7. Due to Darwin has no official Samsung service centre, livechat lady sent me to Samsung's "authorised" repair shop. Walked in the shop, the lady just said no, it's not covered under warranty. Told them I talked to Samsung livechat and Samsung did say they need to have a look to determine whether it's under warranty. The lady said she can help me take the photo, and send them to Samsung for assessment, but it will cost me $75 for them to do that.

So for my case, I see no difference in getting grey import vs local stock.

      • In your case, would definitely get a grey ☺

      • Buying local stock is not just about the Samsung warranty.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

Who to claim a remedy from

        Products

You can claim a remedy from the retailer if the products do not meet any one or more of the consumer guarantees, with the exception of availability of spare parts and repair facilities.

The remedies you can seek from the retailer who sold you the product include a repair, replacement, or refund and in some cases compensation for damages and loss.

The retailer can’t refuse to help you by sending you to the manufacturer or importer.

        • Got mine from mobileciti during sales about a year ago.

Having the same problem as this guy:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUaewrYlI-o

Basically, Samsung is using sub quality paint in their S7, especially the gold ones. A lot of complaints on the internet having the same problem. I am not too worry about it, and it's still functioning fine. The thing I hate most, is Samsung have me to go to their "authorized" service center, due to their lack of support up North, and they want me to pay for that.

I bet that if I am in Melbourne, I can just walk into a Samsung service center, and they would be able to tell me whether it's covered under warranty or not. Why should it be different in other states.

  • I got my S8+ for $728.98 from 18% off eBay deal.

    Not from these guys though.

Might have a better price around the corner soon?-)

    • +2

there's always a better price sooner or later…

      • Agree. I'm still loving my s7e as it feels more premium than S8 so I might have acted too hastily :P

But I couldnt pass a good deal and it was a perfect time for me to get some eBay selling fees back :D

  • Which variant is this? Flashable with XSA?

  • Ordered one 4 days ago. No reply to emails or PM. Not going to order from Shopmonk again.

  • Ordered iPhone 8Plus over a week now, nothing, and ring the number no one pick up.

  • Got mine today (ordered on the 8th) a few days after i ordered, they sent me an email noticing i ordered the wrong case (8+ when phone is 8) and wanted to confirm.. told them would rather a refund on the case which they issued the next day.. DHL express shipping came over the weekend.
Great customer service from this mob

have not turned on yet (doing initial charge) .. box was sealed which was good.
gonna now look up a work around for the region lock which i assume is placed on the phone (as the sticker and guide suggests) and in 44% gonna test this baby out.

    • update: inserted sim .. somehow it did not show as region locked which is weird but great.

NO SIGN OF MY PHONE AS YET.

NO ONE ANSWER THE PHONE OR EMAILS.

    Not happy.

    anyone else experiencing this issue.

    • +2

Yeah its been over 23 days for me. I've emailed them multiple times and they kept apologising for the delay.
I guess I may need Paypal's help to refund me TnT

When did you order your phone mate?

    • +1

Same here. I ordered on 10/10/17 - now well past the 14-21 days delivery that was promised.
No reply to emails, no communication whatsoever.
Now strongly considering action through Paypal to recover funds.
Extremely disappointed in the service, won't be buying from shopmonk again.

  • +1

ordered my phone on 19th Oct.

I received an email from them yesterday advising they would post today and i should get it in 3-4 days.
Basically 'give me another week' to get it to you.

    let's wait and see.

  • +4

I Bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 from them on the 10 of October. My money was debited immediately but 2 days later Still seen the order status stuck on Pending so I emailed them asking if there was an issue If there was a delay or anything I should know about. I get a Pre scripted reply saying it will take 14 – 21 days. Waited for 3 more days. still stuck on Pending. Decided to email them again since very evidently they hadn't addressed my main concern if there was an issue/delay. No reply for 5 days. So I decided to call them. They first guy who answered said he doesn't know why the order was stuck and would get the Warehouse to email me that evening with an update. Surprise, Surprise no email. called the next day had to make about 15 calls before was connected (the call rang and then disconnected before that) The guy who answered stated that they had run out of stock in that specific color and he didn't know when they would get new stock but he would email all the managers and get one of them to reply that evening. Well what do you know. No reply there either. From the period that i bought that phone the same color handset went from sold out to back on sale twice. So I Called the next day The guy said he could see that they were expecting stock and even if stock came in on Friday I would still get it before the sla of 21 days. Made it very clear to him that if not I was going to fair trading. Come Tuesday (do you sense a pattern here) No handset and after 150+ calls no one answered. I emailed them at the start of the day to check the status no reply. Today is 23 Days. SLA Breached and no idea of any update on the handset.
If you believe in donations then take a chance. That's how their prices are so low. They don't ship one in 3 phones. So if your a gambler take the risk. if you value your money don't shop with them.

    • +1

In the exact same situation as you, bought on the 10/10. Got this email two days ago.

"We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you as there has been an inadvertent delay in servicing the order which happens to be beyond our control. We are shipping the product by tomorrow. The tracking details will be shared with you through email once the product has been dispatched from our facility. It should arrive at your doorstep within 4 to 5 business days."

      We shall see.

      • +1

Mate I also received that email last night.
        Inb4 more broken promises. Feelsbadman.

      • Received the same generic email on Thursday night. Still haven't got any indication that the phone has shippped.
This is clearly a delaying tactic and who knows how long it'll actually take.

I'd hate to have to deal with them if there were to be anything wrong with the phone /warranty claim etc.

  • so we'er screwed then.

how do I cancel the order and get my money back?

I think I paid via PayPal and AMEX card

    • Have some hope mate. I just received an email from them. It's shipping from Singapore as of now :D
