What Was The Longest Time You've Had Mail Circulating in The Post before You Received It?

So, I got a brown, Eco-friendly envelope in the mail today, thinking "what did I sign up to this time?". Without delaying, I ripped it opened and found that sticker for the Myki card inside!

It took over six months to deliver from Metro Victoria… to Metro Victoria! Surely it had its own adventure, sightseeing and enjoying its serene trip before deciding to finally land in my letterbox.

Speaking of which…

Question: What was the longest time you've had mail circulating in the post before you received it?

I received a lambswool rug from New Zealand, that I ordered several months before my baby was due, when they were 6 months old. I had forgotten I even ordered it.

Not length of time, but distance. Once package (quite large) I ordered to come from Vic to Canberra went Vic -> Sydney -> Brisbane -> Sydney -> Brisbane -> Sydney -> Canberra. Not sure what the f happened there

    • Haha, wow. I had something similar, but think yours is worse.

  • I still haven't got my two Myki stickers despite receiving several emails saying they're on their way.

    • That's interesting. I received no emails at all about them.

  • 9 months, post card from Amsterdam to sister at xmas, she got the card in september

Damn, if only it was another 2.5 months late…. then it wouldn't have seemed odd.

  • about 3 months, from Tasmania to Sydney found in Queensland. Lucky it was registered post as Aust post lost it.

  • 7 days. Gold Coast to Brisbane. Plain letter, paper only.
20 years ago it happened. Still can't believe it.
Hate to try it now with the way their service has gone.

  • UK to Australia. This happened 3 years ago. The letter finally arrived the following year during Christmas in November.

  • Express Post South Australia to Canberra, 6 weeks. I think Australia Post used the wrong pigeons….and still do every so often.

  • Six months, bought a new phone earlier this year and needed a cover for it, so bought one from an ebay seller

AP tracking showed it to have landed at nearby distribution centre, but nothing from there. Seller agreed to refund my money and took it up with AP

Six months later the cover turns up. Had smashed my phone in the meantime without a cover

  • 4 months - parcel from Wollongong to Sydney. Bought Baby products for $250 but seller refunded me after 3 weeks wait. Eventually arrived after 4 months.

  • Received something I ordered on the 2nd of July, 2015 a few weeks back. Was a MHL 3.0 -> HDMI adapter. Redirected from my old address.

  • Express post from Australia Post frequently takes a week for something that is meant to be “next business day”.

Please make sure you hit them up under their guarantee to refund postage.

Their service is pathetic and unreliable. Couriers are frequently cheaper, and at least they deliver more often.
