Nova Plus Chair (Blue) at Office Works ($79)

100

Really don't know if this is a deal or not considering IKEA eat your discount promo going about but for those keen on a nice chair you might want to consider taking a look at the Nova Plus Chair at OW.

The only catch is only the blue one is on at a lowered price @ $79 while the black is still at $149

In addition, the Nova Deluxe Chair (Blue) is $119, down from the cost of the black one of $169.

Hope it helps someone else out cause they seem to be dissapearing quick.

  • Have you had any experience with it? My last chair was rather disappointing - after a few months the padding compacts so much that one can feel the bolts.

    • Atm I just got it home. There feels to be plenty of padding and feels quite comfortable. It has two adjustments and 12 month warranty (so you probably can harass them if it does go sour).

I just swapped to this chair from a $99 IKEA one and I have to say, I do like the second adjustment for the back makes sitting remarkably more comfortable.

I wish I could tell you more but I too am just hoping it doesn't go bad in the coming months. Best bet to check if this chair is right for you is to come in store and sit on it.

      • Hey Well,

Can you adjust this chair's back back and forth? Not tilt but have the back stay in different angles.

        ie. from \ _ to |_

        Thanks!

        • yeah you can move the back rest back and forth but the chair does not have the adjustment to pivot about the vertex of the L (referring to your diagram).

The other function is up and down :P

    • I had the very same problem with an office chair from Target. Comparatively speaking, this one is of a much higher standard of quality. See my comment below.

    • I find with most of the chairs I've had so far, even some more expensives ones, the padding will usually compress after a few months making it really uncomfortable.

I've since bought a mesh chair which not only overcomes the problem of compacted foam but it's also more comfortable since the mesh contours to your body shape much better. The Aeron chair posted on here recently is an example of well-designed mesh chair (yes it's damnnn expensive and not comparable in price to this chair from officeworks) but there are also mesh-backed chairs from officeworks such as the Icon for $98 http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Furniture/Chaiā€¦

      • So what mesh chair did you buy?

        • I bought mine a while back from Style Ergonomics Aust (http://www.styleergonomics.com.au/)
They model I use is no longer made and I can't remember exactly how much I paid, but it was considerably more expensive than ones from officeworks.

Since I'm on my ass most of the time, I figured it was about time I spent a decent amount on a chair which would last me a while and would be better made. These chairs are solidly built, much more comfortable and stylish, and are definitely going to last a while. I figure over time the cost will be justified- especially since I ended up wasting money buying new cheaper chairs every year or two.

I understand not everyone can/wants to spend so much on a chair though, so maybe give the mesh varieties from officeworks a try. I haven't tried them myself but I'd assume they'd be better than the all-foam ones.

Good price. Bought this for a family member about two years for $99 if I remember correctly. With a few hours of use on an almost daily basis, the foam and fabric are still in excellent condition. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to buy this if I was in need of another office chair.

  • I had one that looked very similar to this and may be the same; it was quite nice.

  • whats the diff between deluxe and normal besides seat tilt?

    • +1

It may be the armrest may be adjustable. Still the Nova Plus seems the best value for money in my opinion.

  • .

  • We've had one of these for a couple of years and its padding is different from most OfficeWorks chairs I've tried. It doesn't flatten and lose its effectiveness after a few months use.

However there is a trade-off - it's significantly harder than the other chairs. It's not quality padding that is both soft and durable.

i threw out my crappy kmart office chair in favour of a wooden kitchen chair. the hard padding of the nova will feel magic on my cheeks.

  • there is free delivery for online orderes over $55. same day delivery if the order placed before 11:30. There is a $4.95 handling fee but big deal, great price for a chair with same day delivery. Ill let everyone know how it goes when it arrives.

  • There's at least half a dozen at Doncaster, VIC. I went to try it out but other 'stakeholders' decided the Eton was more worthwhile. But it wasn't on special so the decision was deferred. =/
