What's Your Experience with GearBest?

Just curious as to other ozbargainers experiences with gearbest….. I've seen a lot of posts come up lately stating extremely long shipping times and some "cheap" packages that never even turned up.. I thought it might just be a few unrelated cases until I myself had issues too..

This isn't a post trying to push any agenda, just an honest question of the service and shipping you've experienced when using gearbest.

  • I've bought alot of little cheap things (USB cables, WiFi antenna, bluetooth dongle) and they just show up after X (3-6) number of weeks. Usually with me going 'what the hell did I buy?'. But I've never had a lost package. They're packaging is pretty strong too, small but anonymous pouchs of bubble stuff.

  • I haven't had any issues from GearBest. I've purchased several items in the past, namely the Xiaomi Yeelight RGBW E27 LED bulb, Xiaomi Air 13 (i5 6200U) and a Samsung UHS-3 64GB Micro-SD card. I think they all arrived around 2 weeks after purchase, definitely not more than 3, so I think I'm one of the luckier buyers?

I recently purchased a Xiaomi Mi5s and a Xiaomi Mi Band 2 (yesterday and today respectively) so I hope those safely arrive in a timely manner. I was going to purchase some Xiaomi earphones as well but I saw this thread and decided not to. I'd like to hear from anyone else who has bought the same items I have.

  • About the same as aliexpress. Which is very slow, but very cheap. Happy to order from either of them again.

  • Never had a problem with them but you have to expect to wait ages. If you don't care about when you get it, should arrive within 4-6 weeks. I have never made any expensive purchases, just bought a cheap action cam, powerbanks, other random items. No point in paying more for shipping it will arrive same time in my experience.

      Hi gearbest,

I've sent you a message. Specifically, it's about the bears in this deal which I never received.

      • I have replied you.

        • Hi gearbest,

I have also just sent you a message regarding the same deal as I never received my order like most people who took up that deal.

        • @KupoHo:

          I have replied you.

    • Hey Gearbest,

On the 26th of september I ordered a Xiaomi Mi 4k drone from you as it seemed like a good deal, then on the 1st October I got an email saying it had been shipped (I paid for express). The tracking hasn't moved since the 7th of october saying "shipping information received by Australia Post." When I initially opened a ticket and brought up the ridiculously slow postage I got an response saying that I should check with my neighbours to see if they received my package which is a joke in itself then another message saying you will investigate but that could take 10-15 business days to wait for a result of that… at this point I have no idea where my package is or if it will ever arrive, regretting my decision to purchase from you at this point.

      order number W1709252048329048

      • Hi moggles75,we are sorry for this inconvenience,I have informed my colleague to check this with shipping department, shall get back to you via ticket, pls follow up it via tickt.

    • Pm-ed.

  • Highest item i bought from Gearbest was a Xiaomi mi 5 s plus late last year, Used DHL express and it came within a week. Paid around $580 back then, (Still working fine until now)
    Guessed I'm luck ^^

  • I've gone on a spending spree a bit with Gearbest.

I'm just on 40 individual orders since early september when I bought some mobile phone cases. All of my orders from before 18/9 have arrived although none from after 18/9 yet.

I did order a laptop from them (ships early November but I ordered being aware of this).

Praying it all turns up (2 of those orders so far as gifts).

Now that I know where the coupons are at maybe I should hold off from anymore Gearbest until say, December. Hopefully the tracking and insurances "guarantees" my pricier orders (anything over $10 I would not feel comfortable without tracking at least).

All those comments got me worried about the Mi in-Ear Headphone Pro I've ordered on 14 Sep, it arrived on 13 Oct. I bought it as a Xmas present to someone not that special, it only costs $17 and it's XiaoMi. Now since everyone says $17 batch are fake, so I have to open the wrapper to check it.

What, the box has it labeled as Mi in-Ear Headphone Pro HD, are they the same? Anyhow, keep unwrapping, the earphone and cable packed quite neat, and where hell is the QR code, oh, found it, really tiny at the end of the cable. Fetched my phone, try to scan it, damn, it's really tiny, took five times to get it read. URL pops up, clicked the link, after a long wait for a dramatic end, then message came, "This Mi Product is authentic". Wait, it can't be, can it, I only paid $17. I have to listen to be sure, so unwrap the cable plug in. Pick a music clip downloaded from youtube, WOW, fake or not, it certainly beats the iPhone earbuds came with $1000 tag phone. Now, I have to keep it for myself now.

To be fair, I've ordered 50 plus items from GB since this July, most of them are $1-$5, some $20+, couple of $30+, so far, they all arrived around 3~5 weeks mark. Except one Yeelight ordered 4 Sep has not turned up yet, despite another Yeelight ordered 14 Sep arrived last week. Funny thing is the one untracked turn up ok, the one tracked showing it stucked in HK and never move again.

That's my GB experience, as we always say YMMV. If you can't wait for 3 weeks, let alone 4-6 weeks, GB probably is not good for you.

First order I had with them was ok; received my item within a couple of weeks and was in good working order.

Decided to buy from them again; and ordered my second item a month ago; and went for the Registered Australian Post option. Got a Post Tracking Message on the 26th of September; and has been stuck on status "Collection Shenzhen (guangdong) - CHINA" ever since.

I sincerely doubt that the shipping company has the item; even though Gearbest is showing they have stock of the item. Would indicate this is most likely a result of drop shipping supply chain management, even though their website says they keep stock of everything:

"GearBest holds its own inventory in secure state of the art warehouse facilities"

If the above statement were true; I would already have my item.

    • +1

Same thing happened to my order too. Ironically, untracked items turn up fine, the one with Registered AustPost option stuck there forever.

    • +1

Lol; so a couple of hours after I posted this; I got a notification that it had finally been delivered. Just checked the tracking with their courier (DPEX) again and it still says it's in China. Package came from New Zealand; so I have no idea what's going on with this tracking. Don't pay for Registered Mail; it's a waste.

I've had a package never arrive. I avoid it now. They gave me half the unit's value as credit.

MY experience seems to mirror a number of others.

Long(ish) delivery times, but that can be expected.

But all of my orders have arrived.

I have even found that there response time to questions has been similar to other "larger" sites.

I will certainly keep using them.

  • Bought a phone with DHL shipping. Got it less than one week later.

  • +2

I ordered once just before they got banned from ozbargain - never got the item (along with lots of others that ordered the same thing) and they made paypal refund me rather than take responsibility themselves.

Find it hard to justify giving them another chance when I hear the same same rep still in charge when they were allowed back on here.

Good for consumers if they become (or have become) a trusted operator.

  • -5

No issues here, i always spend the extra $2 for faster shipping.
Most issues are with the tight arses who use free shipping.

  • Bought a phone and two micro sd cards from them, all work perfectly, only issue was the postage times but for the price still totally worth it as long as you go into it with your eyes open about how long it'll take to arrive.

  • Had hit an miss experiences with gearbest. Ordered a pair of xiaomi earphones on express and arrived within 1 week. I oredered 2 watches also on express (with it saying it would dispatch next day), instead taking >1 week to dispatch and 3 weeks later, it still hasn't arrived.

I've given up on these cheap Asia markets companies.

I ordered something from Gearbest like a month ago, just checked my order and it hasn't even been shipped yet. No notification that they dont have stock or anything.

LightInTheBox are even more trash. I ordered some fitbit type things from them for my daughter, paid extra for express postage which guaranteed delivery in x amount of days which would have been plenty of time for her birthday. They sent it standard regular mail, didnt mention a thing to me then when I enquired about it like 6 weeks later they said they cou'dn't send it express as it had a battery in it, but they never offered to refund the express postage.

Then when I requested it they said "Yup, its been processed!" yet no email or confirmation from paypal. They never refunded it, I ended up lodging a complaint with paypal and they didnt even rule in my favour even though the seller admitted they didnt send express and were going to refund it. Paypal must not even read the details.

From now on I avoid these dodgy cheap websites, and I removed my bank details from paypal and only pay 100% credit card so I can sort it properly through my bank next time.

    Dont support these grubs.

  • Only thing I have bought was the Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/332278#comment-5186886

Ordered 27th, received this yesterday. so around 3 weeks delivery, not too bad and pretty happy with the service, no different compared to the many items I have bought from BangGood (maybe their post is a little quicker sometimes)
Set it up today and it works a charm. One room (playroom) had poor wifi, PS4 and mobile phone wouldnt pick up original wifi signal. Plugged this into a spare usb plugpack we had, in the same room, and all is now fine. Great product so far.
Software is a bit dicky but didnt take long to figure (I chose US as the area, didnt have Australia)

  • Very good…

  • First order and had bad experience so far.

Order said it would ship the next day, however it took 4 to 5 days to ship instead.

I also paid for Australia Express but it seems its only normal airmail with registered post.

Is registered post faster? I don't understand the difference between AU Express and Australia Express.

    Please explain…

  • purchased my laptop from them and that arrived very quickly. The last thing I ordered understandably was the slowest shipping did take about 5 weeks to arrive, took about 1 week to be dispatched now that I have received it all good.

    • +1

That's an interesting read. I'm not one to buy into conspiracy theories often, but I find it strange how all (but one) of the "Five Star" reviews I read through have only ever reviewed GearBest, have a single review, and seem to be from European locations.

  • I ordered some earphones, they sent me smartphone case. After the paypal claim Paypal asked me to sent the item back by online trackable postage which will cost me more than the item. Strictly avoid this seller.

    • Yup… I've just had to mail back my amazfit watch at a cost of $22. I'd hate to see the cost for someone to send a laptop back, I've learnt a valuable lesson from all of this… sometimes an online deal isn't worth the problems to save a couple bucks.

  • Stuff generally arrives, but usually takes well over a month.

I didn't use them for ages after stuffing me around, but they seem to have improved. I wouldn't pump serious money their way though…

  • GearBest's shipping lead time is very bad. I once paid extra for express shipping (5-7 days) but at the end it took over 2 weeks. Don't expect many status updates from their parcel tracking system.

So far I haven't received fake products.

OTOH, some of their flash sales are irresistable.

  • I have bought twice through GearBest and both items arrived after about 3-4 weeks. The packages usually look like they were put into a punching bag and done a few rounds before they arrive.

  • Have ordered many things. Most things arrive in 3.5 weeks (like any other Chinese Website), but lately some items have come sooner. One item took a few months, but it was a $0.01 item (or free, can't remember) which was shipped from the Solomon Islands. In general, I have not really had issues, and I must have ordered about 15+ items. I don't like it when people complain about it taking a month, because that's the norm for any Chinese website.

  • My experience is… bought headfones (Meizu EP52) which doesn't charge properly and goes into "Low Battery" mode in ~2 minutes after "full charge".
Contact Gearbest back and forth, finally send them a video of it and i get Winifred offering me $10USD ???
    … :X

    • +1

Yep same here with the Meizu EP52 (low battery issue), going through the same process and only offering a partial refund on the original amount…

      • good luck mate, i finally got a refund minus shipping.
they're either fakes or dodgy QA i reckon as one side feels light as if there's no battery in there…

  • +2

Clearly it doesn't take 3 pages of the thread to realise that Gearbest have serious issues still and maybe deals should either be boycotted or unable to be posted.

From the sounds of it people don't have a problem contacting gearbest, they just have issues with the ridiculous answers and recommendations they give.

That being said, they probably operate on a low margin giving high shipping costs so I'd try and cut them just a bit more slack.

End of the day I'd say it's a fun part of being a ozbargainer!

    • whilst likely they run on low margins, no excuse for ridiculous answers and lack of support…
you would assume they have sufficient funding to cover broken items - or they should track / control what they sell which have a high return rate etc.

  • +1

I have had a few successful purchases with Gearbest but am currently going back and forth just trying to get my order sent. First they messaged me to say my address is incorrect (I pointed out to them that they have sent several things to this address in the past month)and then they say the package is over their volume limits and I would have to pay for expedited shipping! Not sure what's going on but it was for one of their limited discounted/pre sale action cameras so I'm thinking they just don't want me to have it for such a cheap price. The way it's been handled with conflicting messages from different people certainly makes me wonder if I should continue to buy things from them.

  • oddly enough gearbest are batting 100% for me

every item received, every item as described, pretty damn happy

HOWEVER, some things run like 1 week delivery, sometimes 3-4 weeks

i know its not them, its china and possibly aus customs

  • +1

I had a good first experience with Gearbest. But my second one has been crap. I ordered the same item as the first time (cos I wanted another one), had it sent to exactly the same address, and for some reason the second delivery ended up being listed as "returned to sender", presumably because they'd misprinted the label somehow (or the delivery guy couldn't manage to find the right big building :/ ). Now they won't resend it without charging me extra postage (or deducting postage from a refund). Seems they don't understand who should bear liability for their agent's mistake.

And they've failed to supply a replacement part from the first purchase, even though they said they would. (Never despatched.)

  • don't expect anything quickly.

they will repeatedly say it's been packed and ready to ship.

I ordered a package almost 2 weeks ago, it was 'packed' and ready to ship within a day or two and hasn't moved or anything since. (no indication of actual shipping)

it was also a DHL order, no point paying for DHL if it takes 3 times as long to pack and ship.

  • I have made over 90 orders from Gearbest and am very happy with their products and customer service, the few times I have had a problem with an order the rep on here has sorted it.

  • If this is the Ozbargain complaints department for Gearbest then I now sadly have a complaint…

On the Sep 06, 2017 order number W1709062321205310 for a Xiaomi Mi Band 2 Smart Watch

    I have not received it.

I normally don't mind waiting but I have ordered 5 items After the Mi Band and have received them all.

  • Lucky I read this thread first, was about to buy a phone from them but remembered I bought something cheap from them ages ago, never received it but didn't notice cos it was cheap so I forgot about it.

  • It never arrives :( Bought 2 times and still same even thought I paid for better tracking delivery

  • I haven't had any troubles until recently:

I ordered the JETBeam JET-II, and was sent a JETBeam JET-I. Looks like during intake they stuck the wrong SKU label on.

Sent a photo which clearly shows it's the wrong item, but they responded by saying everything is correct but as a gesture of goodwill compensate with 100GB points/$1USD.

    Still arguing in the ticket.

Not thrilled and will probably stop shopping with them now.

    • I've only just received my refund for my defective amazfit watch… literally 2 months later and over 20 messages.. NEVER AGAIN.

  • Worst online buying experience ever. I ordered 2 Xiaomi xiaofang Smart 1080P WiFi IP Camera from Gearbest on 6th Sep and never received them. After numerous messages to Gearbest and Australia Post - I was advised that the package was returned back due to the wrong address put by the seller.

This is the same Paypal address I have used for past 6 years to do various online stores and never had any single issue. They came back and now asking for shipping charges again to re-ship the package.

I have no trust left on them and have asked for the refund but have had no respond from them yet. Have escalated to Paypal and waiting for the outcome.

I seriously think Gearbest should be permanently banned again, as like me, many others seems to have gone through the same ordeal and lost their money.

Are there mods who are reading these comments? If you are, please do something about this before more people get scammed by them.

  • Just recently 23 October, bought a Micro SD 64GB card from GearBest, for a Deal posted here, paid for Priority Line 7 - 15 business days, arrived last week, 3 November so this order went through in time.
This week I've ordered an action camera, and paid 14$ for DHL, Ordered 5 Nov, and "apparently" dispatched 7 Nov, and Tracking info not yet updated. Will probably arrive before any tracking info is updated.
And got myself a Car Dash cam, 8 Nov, paid additional Priority Line 7 - 15 business days AU$3.73, item not dispatched yet.

It needs a lot of patience ordering with Gear Best, and when I say a lot, I mean Really Really a lot.

  • Hi Gearbest, I have not yet received my Micro SD card which I have bought on September 5th 2017. I have raised a ticket last Thursday and have not received any reply although the system generated e-mail said that I will receive a reply within 24 hours. My order number is WP1709061543256386. Can you please take a look? Thanks

  • I had no problems with gearbest but Now I actually think they are one of those sellers that sometimes pretends to send items but really does not, like the bodgy sellers on ebay.

I still never received my Mi Band and the list has grown to the LED strips, sadly won't be buying off them again :(

  • I have worst online purchase experience with Gearbest. Please suggest how I can get full refund or resend the item.

Gearbest provided me best solution with about 33% refund of the full purchase amount. I received the wrong item and verified to Gearbest with shipping label and item code.

    • If you paid through paypal, open a dispute and do not close it until you receive a refund, no matter what gearbest tell you. There is no reason why you should only receive 33% of your purchase price for an incorrect item sent.

You will need to send the item back, make sure you get tracking and take pictures of the receipt and the item being sent.
Save all messages that gearbest have sent you as evidence as paypal may want to see them.

It may take over a month as I found their refund process extremely slow and they will do anything to try and keep your money.

  • Have ordered at least 20 items. One laptop took a long time to ship. Another came without Windows 10 activated. After a bit of wheeling and dealing Gearbest came through so I have no complaints.

  • I ordered a watch from Gearbest on November 9th, it arrived in Sydney based on their tracking info on November 29th. It is still showing as clearing. Seems there are quite a few people who have the same issue. Tickets produce no effctive response, just suggest to wait.
January 4th. Lodged yet another ticket with Gearbest. Item has been in Sydney since Nov 29th. still showing as clearing.
Response from Gearbest: Check with post office : the number Gearbest supply is not an Aust Post registered number so is untraceable.
Contact shipper courier: No local contact details are available for Dpex.
Wait until Jan 19t as that is Gearbest cut off ate for delivery. : That is something new I have learned, Gearbest thinks that delivery could take up to 2 months but their website says 25 business days.
None of this has moved me any closer to getting my delivery but I hope the info. helps others to decide before placing an order with Gearbest.
    Appalling customer service and shipping.
Paypal claim is the next step.

    • I'm not usually one to defend GearBest, but it sounds like the package/shipment (since I think they bulk them to Australia) may have been stopped by Customs. As for tracking, they usually use someone like China Post, DPEX, etc. There are several websites that will automatically detect the postage company from the tracking number. I personally use Parcel Monitor and 17Track but they too can be hit and miss. Sometimes the folks at GearBest just provided the logistics order number and you then need to dig around to get an actual tracking number from that.

I'd be lodging a Paypal claim after doing some research (and trying to talk to the Rep here). Especially if you can't find the number anywhere. But, I'm quick to jump on getting my money back when it comes to GearBest due to bad experiences with them. It doesn't hurt to get the ball rolling, after all.

      • Thanks for the info. I know which courier it's Dpex but my problem is that it arrive in the Dpex Sydney warehouse 6 weeks ago, hasn't moved since. No way to call them and Gearbest just keep sending computer generated replies to my tickets. Another buyer had a similar issue, arrived Dec 4th he got his this week, mine arrived Nov 39th. Hopefully it might arrive next week.

        • That should read Nov 29th

        • Apologies, I read your comment about "the number Gearbest supply is not an Aust Post registered number so is untraceable." and thought I could be of some help. If the latest status says it's sitting in their warehouse, that's extremely strange. I'd give it a week then reach out to Paypal. I hope for your sake it doesn't come to chasing a refund though, and make sure you settle for nothing less than a full refund.

  • I bought a dog brush which never arrived, asked for a refund when it didn't turn up. They said it had been refused by customs and that it was not their problem.
Was the dog brush made out of plutonium?
That was the second item that never turned up, once ive used the money from the last refund I'll try my luck elsewhere.
