  • Thanks OP, glad to give VR a try

  • Thanks, OP missed out on eBay and got one here.

  • What are iPhone users experience with this? Not much iOS specific stuff on YouTube to give a proper indication on whether it’s worth the $25 or not.

  • great find, ordered one thanks OP

  • Should atleast work with YouTube app on any android phone i guess

  • anyone know how these compare to something like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H35AU3G/ref=od_aui_deta… ?

    • Those are just optical. The Google Daydream is powered and has built in sensors that track your movement.

      • The Daydream headset uses your phone's sensors to track head movement. The remote has sensors for pointing.

    • Get the daydream - on a compatible phone, the daydream software will run your display in a low-persistance mode that reduces latency and motion blur. Without this, your VR experience will suck and it's not worth bothering.

If your phone is incompatible, you can still use the daydream as a dumb/basic viewer like your Amazon unit but be prepared to be disappointing.

      • thank you :)

        I guess he was daydreaming…

  • Thanks op! Just bought one😆🤣

  • Great, ordered one, thanks OP!

  • unlucky, mine is s6 edge plus

  • Thanks, op, bought one.

  • Is it working for Samsung s7 ???

    • No not properly.
      There is a root hack.

It still provides the optics for movies and generic 3D goggle apps.

      • thanks for the information, so i better to wait samsung own VR deal

  • Thanks! The shop must have heaps left. I was just able to get one too.

  • What is the difference between the Samsung VR and this?

  • Tempting but not going to risk it with an s6 edge and the apk

  • Cool. Purchased. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP, got one probably will give as Xmas gift, as these things give me motion sickness

  • Working for iPhone x?

    • No. Optics work but not interactive.

  • Ordered one - thanks OP!

  • Bought one, hope it's compatible with my Huawei P9 :)

  • Thanks OP, purchased. I've got the LG V20, would this device be able to work with the platform? Assuming I manually install the .apk files?

    • Need amoled screen according to Google.
      V20 is using LCD

inpulsed…. hope it works on iphone

I imagine a Redmi Note 3 has no chance?

  • +1

Not sure how it’s lasted this long.. they really must have a stash of these from the pixel promotions, they must have had at least 2000 of them.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I've wanted to get one of these since they came out but couldn't justify the price

  • is anybody know that will work for my Samsung S7 phone, not edge version, thanks

    • just plain no, only can use it in same way like the paper one.

      • You mean cardboard?

        • Yes, thanks for the correction

        • @lgacb08: Doesn't work with my phone too. I just want it for watching movies as I don't have a projector.

  • Got'd. Thanks OP. Missed out last time. Excited to see how my 360/VR videos I filmed look on it!

  • Mine was delivered yesterday. Played with it for a few hours using my note 8. Despite a few crashes of Netflix vr that seem to have settled now , it was a bunch of fun. Well worth $28 and at even less now it's definitely a bargain. Strapping can be a little uncomfortable as there is no top strap and no manual focus for the lenses, still worth it.

  • Free shipping makes it unbeatable. Thanks OP!

  • +4

I have an iPhone, bought it before reading comments since it had 300+.. becoming a typical Ozbargainer lol

    • +2

Make it a gift, or sell it on. Still works out, I reckon.

  • Ordered one. Thanks OP great find

Getting one first and will tackle the technical issue for running on V20 later.

Worse case will just be watching VR movies without daydream.

  • Anyone got it working with G6?

    • +1

      Like a G6

  • awesome thanks OP!

  • Thanks op - ordered one :)

  • purchased.

  • +2

Awesome. I missed the eBay deal the other day when they sold out whilst I was entering payment info.
Registered here just to say thanks to doweyy

  • They must have thousand of them nobody buy.

  • Woo, not compatible with my phone. So I don't need to buy… yet.

  • "Sorry. We don't have enough 'Google VR (Daydream View) (128466)' in stock to fulfill your order"

Out of stock I think :(

    • Damn, yeah just ended :( Says "Notify Me" on the page now.

  • so sad: Sorry. We don't have enough 'Google VR (Daydream View) ()' in stock to fulfill your order

    • Finally!

  • Thanks OP, luckily I got one before it sold out haha

  • thanks Op ordered

  • Did anyone get their address on the confirmation? , I forget which address I sent mine too :(

  • I ordered mine on Sat and got the email order no on the same day. Now I thought I'd just follow up via chat on the Telstra Live Chat and they advised that it was on back order!

  • So for everyone who's received it - best apps suggestions? I'm on a Note 8 if that makes a difference (which also, sits funnily above the flap because it's pretty big)

  • If anyone in Adelaide has received theirs and changed their mind, let me know. I will buy used at cost price.

    Thanks

  • argh.. missed out again.. it's 119 @ JB.. do you think they could price match.. or should I wait for another bargain?

  • Mine has arrived. Confirmed Daydream cannot be used with V20 unless rooted and changed a couple of lines in a file. Wont be doing that.

Still it's fun enough to use it on youtube. Well worth the money spent as I spent more on something worse.

    Thanks again OP.

    • Still it's fun enough to use it on youtube.

So it will use it like a basic VR headset?

      • Yes, the unit itself basically have no additional functions other than just hold the phone. The build is nice. Some people might complain
about the focus of the lens cannot be changed though.

It comes with a bluetooth controller however it only supports Daydream which in my case it is of no use.

        • +1

I still don't understand the difference with those cheap VR headset that I have.

I received my invoice at Sat 14/10, 8:37 AM. Got the daydream today. It is my second daydream device, the first one I ordered it from Telstra ebay which was deliveried last week. To be honest, if you have samsung device, I highly recommend samsung gear vr, far more better than daydream. However, for $25, I cannot complaint, the remote is worth it.

  • Just picked up one of these from the Telstra store on Bourke/Swanston st in Melbourne for $28. Still a few left in stock. Get them while you can!

  • How do I use the daydream as cardboard vr? I have no idea how to connect it to my LG G6 as I can't install the daydream app. Is that mean that the daydream vr is useless for me? Thanks for anyone that can help me out. I tried the cardboard app, but the daydream VR don't have any qr code. Also the buttons on the remote doesn't work in the cardboard app, so I am stuck at first page that look at the fox and press the button on the headset.

    • You need to root your device, XDA has the instrution.I uses oneplus 2 that works prefectly

      https://www.xda-developers.com/force-daydream-vr-compatibili…

    • If just use it as cardboard VR, I think you can just try to play with youtube VR video or VR app on play store.

      • But the controller is not working. So that means I can't press anything. :(

        • How do I use the daydream as cardboard vr?

Because you said this that is how cardboard VR is (no controller)

        • +1

In short, it doesn't work as cardboard. Daydream replaces the side button from cardboard with the remote instead. I haven't found any solution online to pair the remote and use it for the cardboard button.

One solution is to connect a USB-C to USB dongle on the daydream headset and then to plug in a wired mouse. The left mouse click (or was it right?) then can act as the cardboard 'button'

        • @Dbuiz:
Thanks for the info, that's issue that bothering me, no side button :(
Anyway it been store away now as My G6 is not compatible.

Back in stock and code still working…

    Hows this for VR Porn.

    Asking for a friend

    • Asked my friend and he said it's average, the quality is probably 480p or a bit lower.

      • Asked a friend, he found it embarrassing when his mum came home early and he couldn't see her coming

        • He couldn't, but she definitely could ;)

  • "Special Discount '10% Storewide' from Telstra Accessories (ACCESS10) only applies to specific products. Your order will be processed without this discount."

Well.. that sucks $28 for me

    • Damn, they must have just removed it from the sale, have edited thanks.

      • Worked for me

    • Though it is not much, it was kind of wrong for Telstra to do so… Up till the payment it still shows the discount has been applied. The next page shows that payment has been successful as well as the discount code cannot be applied. At that point they have already charged you the full amount and did not give you a chance of saying if you would like to continue for payment. Okay because discount was $2.80, imagine if discount was $200 and they advise you that full amount has been charged successfully.
