Should get full updates until 2030!

    • +1

Only if the hardware will last till then :)

    • +1

      Full updates, not full features.

  • +15

    That's a lot of gb

    • That was my bad, just copy pasted TGG title without realising their typo.

    • +7

      Gig-ity

    • -1

Yeah, but that equals only 158GB.

  • +1

    1258GB

    • -2

      username checks out :P

  • I clicked for the intial 1258gb title

  • What's battery life like on these?

Missus says my Moto G84's camera is too shitty.

    • Battery on this is worse than g84. Its definitely not an all day battery.

    • Can also include my Motorola G75 camera on that list z atrocious!

    • depends on her usage, i used it at work from 7 to 3 today and got down to 30% but that's continuous usage throughout that time

    • +5

Do some research on Moto Edge Neo 50, selling on HN for $350 currently.
I've had for 6mth now, camera is good to me (but i'm not fussy), 3X optical is handy sometimes.
Battery life is good , not 5000mah good , but it can do 68W fast charge so I never change it over 90% and never had battery worries.
256GB 12GB RAM , Phone size not too big. Good screen. Comes with a crappy case so jump on amazon get a gel case.

Thanks. Im really happy with Moto, especially the shake to turn on torch.

        • You can double tap the back of your phone with the Pixel to turn on the torch but it's very shitty, turning on randomly when you don't want it and requiring 3 or more hard taps to actually get it on 70% of the time. Seeing as we're on the topic of phone flashlights, it also automatically turns off after a certain period of time which can be helpful or annoying depending on what you're up to

      • Sd slot?

      • +4

I have a Moto Edge Neo 50 and the camera isn't really comparable to a Pixel or iPhone. It's absolutely fine if you don't care that much about photos but it isn't in the same league as a Pixel.

      • Replaced my overheating galaxy S20 with a 50 neo…the camera is not as good as the old s20 but it's not bad…it's also not as responsive…but I can use it for an extended period of time and it's dependable..Iove the gestures as well

      • Edge 50 neo camera is absolute garbage, I completely regret buying this phone.

      • Those who complained about Motorola's camera…there's no excuses with P8 @ $400.

        As a guide, Moto-Edge-Neo-50 need to be ~ $300 to match value-for-money features of P8 & mostly like clearance-sale @ that price. https://nanoreview.net/en/phone-compare/motorola-edge-50-neo…

      • Agree! I got mine during Black Friday I think..
Great phone, full day battery easy!
I was worried about leaving Samsung but it's worked out great.

    • Do you have a GCAM port installed?

  • +1

8p for $499 is what we need. I had a bad run with the pixel 8. Green line on screen, got replaced, few months later same problem. Battery not that great.

    • My son had the line problem too. Meanwhile my 7 is still going strong.

      • +2

Yeah very frustrating. This is why i like the Galaxy S phones. Bullet proof quality.

      • +1

My 7 is doing well but really would like an all day battery.

    • Had my screen replaced cos of that issue, concerning that it happened again. Did Google replace it again?

      • I didn't bother. Too much mucking around.

    • My father has a Pixel 8 Pro (as do I) and his also had the green line so it's not as safe of a bet as you might think. Strange thing is it would come and go randomly. Mine hasn't had any such issues luckily

  • I have g84 pixel 8 or g84 better

    • +27

If the full stop/comma keys are broken on your g84, then definitely the Pixel.

  • +3

They don't have the 8 Pro, saved you a click.

  • +2

reserved one, while I was processing the payment they called me back for price error and this will be put down

    • +1

What does this mean? Did you get it for $399 or not?

      • +3

        mean = not

    • +15

      Put down = killed

  • Let's see if this gets honoured and ready for collection, I was able to place a click and collect order on the phone, invoice received.

    • +2

      No issues with pickup.

    • This is not a price error, should be no issue regarding to honoring

      • I didn't think either considering that's what Telstra sold for. Just referring to the comments below they were denied under the pricing error

  • +2

wouldn't be to keen on C&C @ Auburn today 🤔

    • It doesn’t have to be Auburn. There’s stock at other stores. Check your local store

  • +2

    JB, no go :(

"no worries at all, taking a look at this one we wont be able to match as it does look to be a pricing error for this model and also the model numbers with the one we have stocked doesn't seem to be match as well and for us to match it would have to be the same unfortunately

    goodguys model number - 100252599

    jbhifi model number - GA04803-AU"

    • got the same from OW phone line

    • +16

100252599 is their SKU, not the model number.

Any excuse not to match I suppose.

      • Arseholes

      • +2

Best part is that they're the same company 🤦🏽‍♂️

        • Yes , how does that work exactly ❓

  • +1

Has anyone been actually able to obtain this deal?

    • +1

My cousin rang them and ordered for c&c. He was sent a link to pay for it (paid by discounted gc)

      • I have paid too but no collection message yet. Reading comment above, they were told it's a pricing error

        • Will let you know if it gets cancelled.

  • I rang the 1300 number to confirm it was unlocked and also asked if there were any other restrictions. Told no. He even quoted the model number and checked Carseldine store had in stock. I bought it via the links he sent. Supposed to pick up tomorrow.

    • Is there more than one stock at the carseldine qld tgg store ?
I'm trying to buy from that store but it shows still in stock.
Did you grab the last remaining pixel 8 by chance ? It would save me a drive if you let me know if it was last stock or more on the shelves.
I can't seem to buy online & do click & collect.

      • I picked it up this arvo from desk at Carseldine. I didn't ask how many they had or look on shelf..
Try ringing1300 number.they could check stock at the stores when I rang.

  • I rang blacktown, they said 'it's a price error'.

    • +7

Lies. They're keeping for themselves. My friend spoke to GG and they confirmed its not a price error. Anyhow nothing great about this deal.

    • Try another store

    • shouldn't be, staff member was probably amazed by the deal. Telstra had the same price last week.

  • +3

Damn, this isn't much more than what I paid for a 2nd hand Pixel 5 back in 2023 on Marketplace.

    • +2

The 5 is an awesome phone. I hope there's a 10 in similar dimensions.

    • +1

The 5 gives you unlimited photo storage. The 5 is still going at a reasonable high price for second hand.

  • Now im collect good guys moonah in 399aud

    • did they approve the pick up?

      • Yes

    • That's why there's none in stock in Moonah ;)

      • +1

3.00pm 2 units availble, now i think all gone

        • No biggy. Telstra same price

  • +1

Anyone got a price match on this? There is no stock anywhere for me to get to

  • +1

Went into Casula store and picked one up, there are still 3 more in stock. No one mentioned pricing error. In and out within 10 mins.

  • I went and collected mine from Caeseldine Q
    No issues

  • +1

Would have been an instant buy if it was P8P, even at $499.

  • +5

Telstra also back in stock for $399! No pro unfortunately.

    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobiles-on-a-plan/g…

    • +2

      Gone again

  • Just got one, in and out in 5 minutes, no dramas and no mention of a price error.

  • Just picked one up in Adelaide.
Any recommendations for a case? and what's the go with screen protectors these days?

    • +2

I posted in another thread, my 2 year old toddler just threw my phone in a tantrum (resulting in hairline cracking on the back glass on my Pixel 8), it's very fragile.. this happened even with a protected case and 9H front screen protector.. i'm glad I didn't pay $1k for the phone, picked one up for $499 last week in the telstra deal 256GB version..

    • +1

I don't want to shell out 35-50 bucks for a spigen case which will increase the phones price by 10%, which I think is ridiculous for a piece of plastic/silicon, so I trawled Amazon the other night and found this:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CG61LVVP/

Ticks a lot of boxes, looks tougher than the basic ones, has a stand built in, card holder, lens cover, and it's 10 bucks or so. Haven't bought it yet but will probably pull the trigger soon

    • OtterBox Symmetry is my go to.

  • Just missed the last stock at Chirnside Park (Melb). Whoever got it, well played!

  • Thanks! managed to get one from Blacktown store.

  • +1

Don't think it's a pricing error think they are just matching Telstra (or accidentally price matching them)?

It's a near 2 year old Pixel and the prices of these drop like a rock with each new generation, it's already ~600 for grey import, I wouldnt be surprised if these go below 500 when the Pixel 10 comes out.

    • Yeah, not sure how this could be a price error.

      • It's not.

  • This phone sat at this price with Telstra for four days before it sold out. There was no frenzy then but all of a sudden, everyone is crazy for this. For those buying this, make sure you buy a powerbank too as it's not an all day battery. The recent updates are also more power hungry. Also the glass cracks easily on these so get the best case. And watch out for the green line. If it happens, it's not your fault. It's a well document issue that Google has acknowledged.

      • +1

P9P? I hope you meant the P8P otherwise I missed that deal.

          • +1

@Maths Debater: Agree. The extra $100 for the Pro version was a no brainer really

            • @Whatisthatvelvet: Sorry, helps not to drive and reply. Comments unpublished as you are correct, it was the P8P, not P9P. The cheapest P9P was $699 at Telstra.

    • Because it was overshadowed by the P8P for $499.

  • -2

No 256gb deals? Buying a 128gb in 2025 is just a big no.

    • 128 is plenty for most. 256 defs recommended for baby photos and videos

      • +1

Not really, nowadays. A big chunk of storage goes to the operational system and some apps. After just a couple of months of taking photos and recording some videos, your storage is full, your phone starts overheating, and the battery drains quickly.
I barely take photos or videos, and even with a 128GB phone, I constantly have to go through and delete data.

      • Used to be fine before Greedy Google started charging for photo uploads to cloud, something free on Pixel 5 or below

    • +1

Agree $3 worth of flash memory is pretty stingy these days.
