    Panasonic 65” TH65EZ1000U 4K OLED Smart TV $5996 + delivery

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Panasonic-65-TH65EZ1000U-4K-OLED-…

    • Whats the difference between the 65" TH65EZ950U and TH65EZ1000U? We're talking about a $2000 price difference, so what would justify that? I couldnt see any specific key product differences on the ebay listings.

      • It’s been a few weeks since I did the comparison, but brightness and some MasterHDR ju ju and a super duper blackness thing I think. The 1000 was picked as best TV by the highly regarded HDTVTest on YouTube

The 77” one is going to be available next month. The price of that is sure to be eye watering.

        • Thanks. Im still not convinced that its worth the $2K difference though.

        • No, it’s a big jump. Same with the Sony A1 which is generally about $1000 more than the LG C7. I would pick the Panasonic 950 over the LG though for the better colour.

        • @wfdTamar: Thanks for that. Im kinda holding out until I get a Sony OLED just because of Android TV.

Just picked up the C7 55 Inch last week in the TGG sale. Amazing TV once you get it all up and running.

Highly recommended to anyone who missed out. At this price (which is the same as last week) is an absolute steal. It's hard to know whether it will hit this low in boxing day sales either, so I was happy I pulled the trigger to purchase it now rather than waiting.

Also, I recommend people look into getting the screen calibrated or, look at customising the picture with recommended settings online. Makes a big difference.

    • any recommendations for someone who can calibrate? I'm in Sydney (no worries if you don't know)

+1 on calibration. Buy a colorimeter off eBay for $300 and follow the guide here - http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10457. You'll get a much better picture and learn a lot about your TV. And $300 is peanuts when you're spending thousands on the TV.

Plus you can recalibrate every once in a while as the TV ages. You'll get 95% of what a professional could achieve for a fraction of the cost.

I think the Panasonics are better if you do that as they have a full CMS (pretty sure I have that right).

      • How much does a professional charge for the calibration?

    • I calibrate my screens personally because accuracy is bliss, but the broad general public prefer to worsen the image by crushing blacks, oversaturating colours, giving it a 'cool' tone, and making it brighter than the sun. Colour accuracy means nothing to the general consumer. So long as it's big, bold and bright; they'll be happy.

People coming over to watch movies at my house always comment on why I paid so much for my TV when it "looks worse than their sub $1000 Polaroid/Akai/Bhaun/whatever else". Not much I can really say to convince them that my TV is 'correct'. My favourite one is "why is it so yellow looking, it looks gross"…

    • Did you calibrate yourself? If so, which guide did you follow? I bookmarked the rtings.com one in anticipation of buying the TV.. it's been months since I bought it and still haven't bothered to do it.

  • For anyone on the Gold Coast who wants to pickup rather than wait for delivery, Patrick from the Helensvale store said he'd be ok as long as you pay via ebay. he has a few units sitting there.

    • I might follow up on this tomorrow. Did you do exactly this?

I've had poor experiences having expensive electronics delivered, so I'd like to avoid that like the plague.

  • There’s now Technicolor on LG OLED’s.

  • Thanks :)
