    Thanks OP, decent price. But…

With all that is happening in PC land at the moment I think it would be wise to hold off on upgrading my system…at least until Intel get their sh*t together

Not sure what the new i7's have to do with this most of the older ones like the last 3-4 generations shouldn't bottleneck but I agree that waiting for the next big thing is always an option although the 1080ti is the first real 4k 60 fps capable card and is about a 40% step up on the xox one x which is nothing to snivle at!

    • +9

Whats that got to do with a graphics card?? You don't have to upgrade everything together…

    • CPU market should not affect your GPU purchasing decisions. They are totally seperate components in the PC.

      • -1

Agret: "They are totally seperate components in the PC" (that's separate btw)

How many ppl do you know with a 1080ti and i3 cpu?

  • Anyone got any opinions on this vs Aorus vs FTW3?

    • Depends which look you like more? They are all pretty similar and only difference is possibly the fan sounds

      • Yeah, at this point I think the FTW3 is coming out on top because everyone seems to be recommending EVGA for their warranty.

    • +2

This has the best cooling of the three and the fans will hit higher RPM although at 100% they will be louder because of this. The FTW3 has better default performance but when OC this reigns supreme again. The Aorus has a front facing HDMI for VR plug and play. The Strix has 3 headers on the card 2 fan headers to power external fans based on the cards sensors and a header to sync other leds in your case. These are the main differences I have noticed so far.

      • Hmmm, more things to think about. Thanks for this!

    • STRIX has the worst VRM cooling of the three:

      http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-rog-strix-geforce-g…

Aorus has a triple slot cooler so it has inherently better cooling efficiency than the FTW3's cooler, however the FTW3 has better VRM/Memory cooling. If you don't mind a bit more fan noise, I'd say the FTW3 is the best designed cooler for the 1080 Ti.

I have the Aorus 1080Ti. At this price point the cards are pretty much all the same. I got the Aorus because I liked the look of it over any other card. It has so far crushed everything it's had thrown at it. They are pricey cards but you don't care once it's in your PC :)

      • You haven't noticed any sag or bad coil whine?

        • +1

Nope. It did sag a bit, but it does weigh nearly 2kgs. I just used a support frame in the slot under it and all is good. I can't hear anything other than the deaths of my enemies while using it :) (i.e. no coil whine)

        • @Todes Angst: Sweet! Aorus was my first choice but the sag did worry me. I'll look into a support frame.

Also be aware Asus have a free mouse promo at the moment.

    • link for anyone interested in claiming this.
      http://www.asuspromotion.net/anz/free-mouse/

      • It's probably worth putting that in your original post because the Pugio offer isn't worth overlooking.

It seems to almost always be bundled with something though. A game offer ended on the 12th.

        • done although it does say Promotion period: 19th August 2017 to 30th September 2017. So I'm not sure if it is still running?

        • Sorry I didn't notice that in your link.

Here is the correct link that's current:

          http://www.asuspromotion.net/anz/z370/

        • +3

          @rob74:

Beware! This promotion is not for graphic card only!

          This is how it works:

          • Purchase selected Asus Motherboards get a bonus ROG Impact mouse
          • Purchase selected Asus Motherboards plus a selected Asus Graphics card get a bonus ROG Pugio
        • And to follow on from @echoday, the mb + gpu bundle have to be bought from an authorised retailer, one on this list:

          http://www.asuspromotion.net/anz/z370/#buy

Edit 1: on that note, not quite sure if PC Byte ebay is qualified, as only pcbyte.com.au is listed on Asus website.

        • @echoday:

          Thanks for that echoday.

I hadn't realised that and thought the graphics card or motherboard were separate promos.

I'd applied for this promo a few days ago. Looks like it will be rejected :(

  • Would it be stupid for me to buy this when I'm planning to build a pc in the near future? This will be my first part. Or just better to wait and price will probably come down anyway?

    • Yep. Stupid

Similar deal comes up every few weeks.

  • +1

Great card for the price. Paid much more on launch but its handled everything I have thrown at it comfortably.

  • This variant of the 1080 Ti uses more than two slots — the cooler sticks half way into a third slot.

So this is no good if you need multiple GPUs.

I hope they do one for EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 :)

  • Can any one couch for this card, was looking at the Aorus but this is much cheaper with discount unless any ebayer is selling aorus? , will be used for 1440p 144hz monitor

  • I was considering this card or the EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 and decided just to buy this as I would like my card in the next week or so. I've held out long enough and missed some good deals along the way.

I bought with shoppers protection so hopefully with the discount and the price drop within 24 months it turns out to be a bargain! My shopper's protection only allows products bought at Aussie stores.
