I don't get why anybody would buy or encourage buying of this with the headband cracking issue and the release of the new model which might have fixed this

oh wow thank you for letting me know I didn't know that was an issue

      should i delete this post?

OH LOL. Well… my question has been answered.

You put a disclaimer. Good on ya.

I've been using my 1000X headphones 6 days a week (for the past 7months), while on the bus to and from work and haven't had any issues with cracking yet… Then again, When i stop using them, they are folded and placed in the original case, just to make sure they dont get damaged.

Looks like this model is going o be replaced by the WH1000XM2 soon…

  • I'm glad I got the Q35s, not these.

Agree. This is like choosing between iOS and Android. iOS is just polished. Did I open a can of worms

All I can say is LOL. Good luck with your iPhone and iOS

      • Not really, none of these headphone makers are in the business of collecting every single piece of data they can about you in order to serve unwanted advertising and to create circumstances where the user loses money to other businesses without any knowledge of this happening.

I have used mine for a few months, haven't had the headband cracking issue…yet…

    • i had no clue it was an issue until now

I watched loads of vids where they're literally bending the headphones straight and there was no damage

Sound wise, they are better than X2, M2, Zik3, B&O H6 (but these are more comfy), HD598, QC35

        • +1

I've had mine 12 months? (had only been out a couple of weeks)

Have done 25+ flights int/dom, wear them 3-4 times a week for hours on end. Throw them in my bag without case etc

          No cracking of the headband!

Addicted to audio is selling them for $349 Australian stock.

I have had mine for a month no headband cracking issues. I had the Bose qc35 and prefer these over Bose. Better sounds and features.

    • Can you elaborate on the sound? I'm tossing up between the two, tried them both out at JB's but the Sonys were only playing one track on a loop and so I couldn't test it out on music that I like.

Also link to Addicted to Audio for anyone who is interested, save 56 cents!

      • If they give tax invoice then they certainly beat this deal for anyone going overseas soon to claim the GST back.

Not an audiophile but I can definitely hear more bass which is suited for the type of music I like. I use my MDR-1000X on a daily basis. The ambient sound and touch controls are the killer features for me. If headband breaks within 12 months then get it replaced by Sony hence the importance of buying locally with Australian warranty.

    • It's already available and has been for a few months.

      • I know. I was just making ppl aware of the replacement for the MDR-1000X

Not that cheap when there's a gen 2 out with a cheaper RRP. It's RRP is $349 USD. Wait for it to go on special.
