Samsung BAR USB 3.0 64GB Flash Drive (Silver) - $27 @ Officeworks / Officeworks eBay

570

Was at my local Officeworks and saw that they had Samsung 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drives for $27. I checked online and found that this is price is available nationwide. It is interesting that only Silver is at this price.

Officeworks Website link if eBay sells out

FYI: The Woolloongabba (Qld) store had heaps of stock.

pretty good price, bought mine off futu ebay for $30 earlier this year. Mine went through the wash and it's still working as well!

I bought one to which stopped working for no reason.

I jumped on live chat to Samsung and they express posted me a return express satchel to return in and very quickly sent me a new replacement. Pretty impressive service and the warranty is for 5 years.

  • Bought this today! Way faster than the $45 sandisk equivalents. Highly recommend.

Anyone works with Cisco kits? Samsung BAR will work on them (routers & switches).

I'm a little confused? Is that a question or a statement?

        Both.

For those who work with Cisco routers & switches, the Samsung BAR is compatible to the USB ports of the Cisco routers/switches.

It is interesting that only Silver is at this price.

The Silver one is superior anyways it has a metal exterior whereas the Blue one is made of plastic.

    • The Silver one is superior anyways it has a metal exterior whereas the Blue one is made of plastic.

That is what I found interesting. You would honestly think that it would be the other way around.

      • I had this one, and it runs hot. So I would think metal is superior.

  • Thanks will nab one

  • Any reason the Samsung superior to the cheaper Sandisk 64gb usb?

    • Much Faster write speeds
      The Samsung is far superior

      • How do you figure it's "far superior"?

UserBenchmark puts the Sandisk at 41.4 MB/s sequential write and 1.78 MB/s for 4K random write speed.

StorageReview puts the Samsung at 43.75 MB/s sequential write and 22.07 IOPS for 4K random write(which, if I calculated it right, is a dismal 0.08 MB/s)

Unless the Samsung Bar was updated since the 2015 review, I'd say it's not far superior at all.

in real world use I've found the samsung to be superior in every way, especially when it comes to build quality

        • You answered your own question.

        • @Smokey010:

          It's both a statement and a question.

For those who work with Samsung USBs & Sandisk USBs, the Samsung BAR is compatible to the USB ports of the Cisco routers/switches.

Refer to my comment from over a year ago here.

Performance is very average for anything other than sequential transfers. Can be very annoying…

  • Thanks OP got one for my brother and one for myself!

    • Bought one for my aunt Joan and my cousin Kev. I didn't need one.

  • Thanks op. :)

  • It gets battered on my key chain yet still keeps on giving! Highly recommended

  • When I go to add it to my cart on both the Officeworks website and app, it shows as $56 in checkout. I’m not sure how to pay the $27 shown on the item’s page.

Use the link… buy through the ebay link.

      • The eBay link was out of stock as of 10pm last night…

its the slowest usb3.0 i ever used..but it is pretty and stays on my keychain haha

Sold Out. Even the Officeworks website link doesn't have stock available.

I bought a few years ago at Harvey Norman for $28. The performance is not so great. The transfer rates goes up and down and up and down, never at a consistent high rate. But at $28 for a 64Gig I guess it's not so bad.

    • I agree. They get really hot also.

  • Thanks OP,

ordered mine for click and collect at my local store last night at about 7:30pm. Got the text to say it was ready at 8 :D

Just got an email from Officeworks eBay to inform that my order has been canceled as the product is out of stock (even though it wasn't at the time of order). Ordered yesterday maybe 18 hours ago.

Was at an OW store yesterday and they had plenty of stock albeit the marked the price up to bring it inline with the Blue 64GB. Maybe they didn't want to honor the price.

      • Went to my local Officeworks today and they had tonnes of stock too. After a bit of convincing, the manager matched the Officeworks eBay price!

        a copy of the receipt

Apparently Officeworks eBay source their stock from totally different suppliers, and are generally not very much related to the retail stores other than by name. Apparently prices can change as much as three times per day too. The blue USB model is being discontinued, hence the lower price. But the manager had never seen the silver one come this low.
