Just did some tests (32gb full, so more of a real life use indicator):

      CrystalDiskMark: http://imgur.com/a/AxawT

Real life test (copying a movie): http://imgur.com/a/uCcP9

Ran the same tests on 2 different computers which yielded the same results.

EDIT: Some more random type transfers (gba roms) -

Samsung Bar 64gb (inconsistent speeds, but ranged between 177kb/s to 6 MB/s): http://imgur.com/a/phGYR

      Sandisk Extreme (CZ80) 32gb: http://imgur.com/a/qDP0t

The Samsung really gets stuck in real-life use with small files. Caused a bit of freezing (jumpy) using it as a source drive for some Java programming in Eclipse (sometimes taking in excess of 5-10 seconds to recover, on a small project).

I have the 64gb in front of me that I got from Futu.

      CrystalDiskMark Seq Read/Write: 130.7MB/s / 58.61MB/s

It seemed slower than this in real life, so I did a write test:
2614MB file copied to USB drive
(from SSD to USB 3.0 port / no other devices attached)

Samsung Bar 64GB - 78 secs (~33MB/s) (got pretty warm but not burning hot)
      Sandisk Extreme 32GB - 25 secs (~104MB/s)

Oh, I have a joke for this one.

Three Nazis walk into a BAR.

    The end.

    • +3

I walked into a bar once - it hurt.

    • +1

Walk into a BAR and get FUBAR.

The links in the OP are swapped around (64GB brings up the 16GB page and vice versa).

    • Thanks, fixed

    Own exact model, Meh speed.

    • +1

      How Meh?

I have SanDisk extreme 64g ad well. First time I got my Samsung when I use it, i though it is usb 2.0….

It is definitely a good one for general usage.

        Pro:real good build quality
        Con:speed not as impressive

        • I can't remember the exact speed, maybe around 50mb..that is reason why I gave it to my room mate the same day decide still using my sandisk

  • anyone recommend a good USB to throw on my keys? after Decent durability and performance

    • This one?… Have one on my keys and it's held up well.

      • -1

Not seeing very positive things from the comments about speeds

        • +5

Like seriously, how fast do you want it to be? Is waiting an extra 10-15 seconds compared to the fastest on the market worth the time and effort to decide on a USB stick? It's water proof, shock proof, magnet proof, temp proof, and X-ray proof, 5 year warranty, 16GB for under $9 delivered. What more can you ask for?

    • SanDisk extreme 64gb,been on my key chain for a year now, real work speed around 180mb/ write, i have the whole world of war craft in it….

      • Where did you buy it from?

    • I'd definitely recommend the Sandisk Extreme 64gb if you're looking for performance. Only downside is the physical size of it.

$37.56 with the 20% off here.

If you're just using it for movies/large file storage/general use and not any development or the like, the one in this deal is great (small, waterproof, more durable, etc).

If anyone is after a usb 2.0 drive this one is pretty damn cheap at $9.53

or this 32gb usb 3.0 drive for $11.44

How about we do pricematch at OW?

  • I have the 64gb , the 32gb and the 16gb version of this usb and they havent let me down so far , pretty fast when copying movies and such but they can slow down a bit when copying heaps of photos or small files

All in all im pretty satisfied and just ordered two more 16gb cheers op

  • I got this last time, speeds are up and down, usually <45MB/s

  • Bought the last 16gb cheers. Needed it for work :)

    • is that code for storing your pron

      • +4

For that I would need a few of the 64GB variety.

  • Purchased recently for $8 a pop via this Harvey Norman deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/262106

  • 16GB out of stock :(

  • Argh CHOICE20 isn't working anymore, do FUTU have a limit of the Samsung Bars or how many times you can use CHOICE20? I am trying to buy 2 x 64gb bars

    • All good here:

      Items (2) AU $63.00
      Postage Free
      Vouchers -AU $12.60
      Order total AU $50.40

The terms of the CHOICE20 promo is "3 Transactions Per Person" though.

      • AHHH :) I have used the code 3 times with them I think lol

        • +1

          create now account?

        • @Hornpub:

No luck, It must be linked to the PP perhaps :/

Is PC.Byte legit does anyone know? Looks like the prices are similar and the CHOICE20 will work for me with them

  • Bought the 128GB variant. I did have a PNY Turbo 128GB (super fast!) but the plastic separated almost immediately and I was carrying it around as a PCB with USB connector… losing it a few months ago. Transfer rates are lower on this drive but an acceptable trade-off.

  • +1

The 16GB drives are back in stock.

    • Any luck using the CHOICE20 coupon though? I am getting "This code can't be applied to some of your items." when the only item is the 16Gb drive.

      • +1

        Seems to work here:

        Item (1) AU $11.00
        Postage Free
        Vouchers -AU $2.20
        Order total
        AU $8.80

Have you already used the CHOICE20 coupon 3 times? It's max 3 Transactions Per Person.

        • And it seems to be at a PP level, I made another ebay account but was getting the error and I think it's because linked to the PP, i

it's kinda annoying there is no added information about why the code is failing

        • +1

          @Morty:

Yeah code is linked to PayPal, probably need to livechat with eBay to get them to fix it up if you haven't used it 3 times or get a friend/family member to purchase it with their eBay/PayPal account.

        • @hamza23:

Cheers, yeah a member on here is sorting me out :)

        • I haven't used this code at all yet. Odd that it isn't working… Worst case, I just don't buy another USB drive I probably don't need.

        • +1

I think I figured it out. My eBay account is associated with my Canadian PayPal account even though I was trying to pay with my Australian PayPal account. Made a new account and used my Australian PayPal account (on a different product because last I checked the USB Is out of stock) and it applied no problem.

      • Worked fine for me.

  • Centre.com has it on sale as part of their "Cyber Weekend":

    http://www.centrecom.com.au/samsung-32gb-usb-30-flash-drive-… - $15

    • should note it is 32gb
