  • I have this card. It’s not to bad but be prepared, the fan gets super loud and the heat sink even whines under load.. Apparently they’re both a real common problem, I wish I knew before I got it

    • +1

That doesn't sound right. I have the gigabyte 1060 6GB G1 version, and its whisper quiet even under load. Are you sure its not another fan in your pc doing that?

      Heatsinks & heatpipes dont whine…

      • 100% sure. First happened when I did a benchmark so I googled it and from what I read it looked common.
I also unplugged it just to make sure and my pc is silent when this gpu isn’t installed.
Btw you have the gaming version, it has a different heat sink which doesn’t have this problem.

    • Coil whine seems to be a common problem for cards of various brands. My last 2 cards (Zotac,Gainward) both suffered from it. Thankfully the Galax 1060 i have recently bought does not.

      • You had two of them, Did you ever find a fix for it or try a RMA?

Lowering FPS seems to have fixed it slightly but I’ve only tried that in one game so far

        • No i didn't worry about RMA but a set of headphones was a solution

  • As posted by dengseng in another thread. Seems like an error but might be honoured

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STRIX-GF-GTX-1060-OC-6GB-GDDR5-V…

      • They must be pricing errors. They are too good to be too. Especially considering the price of their other cards

      • It was a pricing error. Said they're trying to fix it up now I saw a bunch of people ordered though so assume they won't be honoured

        • Yup can confirm they replied me on eBay this morning and they said something wrong with listing, not sure about if they honoured the orders that went through, I didn't bother ordering because it's probably not

        • @dengseng: yeah seemed like an obvious error at that price. Wouldn't expect them to honour it

  • Aww bought this yesterday at 263.2! :(

  • Gaaaamtree.

  • +2

Price has been dropped, now down to $239.20. Too tempting, bought one!

    • Wow! That is seriously insane haha :D

  • I bought one. Just got a 43" 4K monitor and whilst I definitely can't use this for 4K gaming I'm fine with saving $120 over the 6GB model as I'm a casual PC gamer (will use it for GTAV & Witcher 3, not much else that's demanding), my PS4 Pro does the rest.

Was using a 960 GTX 2GB which started to feel sluggish

  • Hey guys, is this the cheapest 1060 you can get? How is the performance on these?

  • Just bit the bullet and purchased one of these. It says the code will expire sometime today and they are the cheapest 1060's going around. According to Steam they are the most used cards on their platform.

  • bought one last Wednesday, received on Friday. seems all ok for this price
