      • I know you say this but it asks for my current number during registration/checkout when ordering for the specific reason of porting across… If there is a slight chance of it happening then I can't take that risk…

        • +1

Absolutely cannot happen. That would mean I can troll anybody if I have their number.

        • +2

Just asks for a contact number, nothing about porting.

    • +2

Never port your main number, use a spare number for all the porting deals and tether.

      • yeah I think that is the safest option. I don't have a spare number/sim so I'll probably need to go down that path…

        • +1

Live dangerously lol. Seriously though, many of us have done it here many times, so will you be.

The porting process happens later when you activate sim, and If you Choose to port, or keep new number on sim pack.

      • Why do you say never port your main number?

      • there is no problem in porting the main number , i have been doing this for so many months , never had any trouble

        • +2

You may be fine for many months, the one month that it screws up will kill your life.

  • Is the voucher send via email or text? Haven’t receive the voucher yet.

    • +2

They will send a separate email with the voucher code in it, it take 5-15 minutes after the order confirmation email, it might take longer since they are getting swamp.

      • OzBargained dont you mean?

        • Maybe, wondering if they will actually honour all these purchases, as you can make as many as you want

        • @shadOzer:

As far as I know they have honoured thousands over more than a year for the $1/$4.90 XL deals, only a little less here.

  • Thanks. Ordered 1

  • I wonder how much of the terabytes of data they've just given away will be used?

  • Does anyone know if we have to port a number, could I sign up with a new number?

    • You can port, or get new, or both ++++ lol.

      • Yea but it says you have to port a number on the kogan website?

        • +1

Yes, that's what it says in terms and conditions also, but like others have said, although Kogan would love you to port your usual number over, they do not hold you to it up until last night and just activate new sim with new number.

I have done this myself few times, last one at midnight last night.

        • @ozhunter68: Okay, thank you for the info

  • +7

me: ok tha'ts enough now better stop!
    also me: GET MORE!!!

  • +9

Thanks op, and excellent first time post :)

Please don't exploit this deal people or kogan won't be doing this deal again :)

    • +5

Agree with your plea but I think there was no chance of them ever doing this again as soon as this deal got posted on Ozbargain… lol

      • +3

Yeah you right illumination, your postes are always very illuminating :)

    • +7

Too late: eBay dirtbag exploiting the deal

Be a pity if ten OzBargainers each bought one and never followed through with the purchase, but negged his feedback…

      • How does he have 10 available?

        • +1

You don't know you can order and go back and order it again?

      • +4

I've reported it, we all should to that'd get eBay's attention :)

        • Reported to Kogan or eBay?

        • @dm01: eBay

        • +2

@Wystri Warrick: They won't care - they just want their commission. Meanwhile Kogan's T&C's actually forbid reselling these.

        • +1

@dm01: Damn I hate it when people do stuff like this :(.
Your definitely right about eBay :(

        • +1

@Wystri Warrick: A message to Kogan on the other hand with a link back to the eBay listing…might get some action.

        • +1

Could just buy all 10 and since the seller will most likely email you the code, you could redeem and then file an
item not received dispute with paypal.

        • @Ughhh: haha yeah and report him to Kogan

      • Thanks. Reported his listing.

      • +2

Ok, so for anyone who feels like playing voucher police, I just jumped on Kogan's chat support on their website and confirmed (as detailed in the T&C's) that they're not allowed to resell these on eBay (or anywhere).

If, like me, you feel like feeling in some spare time while you're waiting for dinner to reheat in the microwave (who am I kidding, there was no reheating - it was a frozen meal straight out of the freezer - thanks Lean Cuisine!), maybe go to Kogan Mobile's chat page here and report the listing as well. If you get 'Vince', tell him I say hi! :D

      • +1

Item location: Mount Druitt, NSW, Australia

This speaks volumes about the seller.

      • +8

his ebay username looks like this:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/70417

        Do we have another broden?

        • Zing!

        • +4

Haha good find, he didn't even upvote this deal, classic.

  • +2

Despite the T&C has anyone tried recharging it to their existing kogan service? I bought a 365 plan a few months ago and wondering if this would add on 30 days to it

    • +1

try it and let us know. thanks

      • +2

it said voucher code invalid when i tried

  • Does anyone else's voucher say "Call customer service" when trying to activate a sim?

    • Yes, see my comment below.

      • +2

Your comment below is specifically about porting.

hello321 seems to encountering this issue simply when activating

  • +1

Anyone else noticed that kogan blocks incoming calls and sms if you don't recharge. Kogan must be the only provider that does this.

    • Yes this is true

    • +4

If you do not recharge your account after your plan expires, you will still be able to receive incoming calls and text messages for 20 days, and make calls to emergency services for 90 days.

    • +2

This happens about 1 month after expiry; not immediately after expiry.. and yes they're the only provider I know of that does this.

      • I have had similar with Optus where your sim is cancelled one moth or so after activating and not recharging.

Does not happen with all Optus prepaid sims, only some you get with new phones I think from memory.

  • Think I bought 10x just for fun? order went through, but don't think they will dispatch anyway lol

    • Can you share one please? Mine are not working :-(

      • +1

got 5 more if anyone want, pls pm me if you want ;)

@hello321, can't pm you for some reason, pm me instead

P/S Was told code not working, so might be account linked

  • I trid to port my number from Vodafone to Kogan, but it was unsuccessful. I called Kogan, they told me that the Vodafone number can not port to Kogan. I just want to know that is it true?

    • +2

I recently ported from Voda to Kogan when I bought one of their year long prepaid packs. So you should be able to :)

      • I said to them that I did before, but the man told me that I can port any service provider number to Kogan, but not Vodafone.

    • +1

FREE deal is valid for new Kogan Mobile customers only who transfer their existing Australian mobile phone number from another network only. Not valid for customers who transfer their existing Australian mobile phone number from Vodafone.

      • +4

Ozbargainer nowadays a lot more professional than their call centre.

  • +1

    Thannks - used 1631052858

  • -2

I just tried buying this, it emailed me an Order Confirmation but no 10 digit voucher code, has this deal ended?

    • +1

      will receive within 30mins

  • <<customers only who transfer their existing Australian mobile phone number from another network only>>?

  • +4

No need to transfer! worked without transfering

    • Can you please elaborate? i.e. When you activate, it just ask for the number you're porting over - or is there an option to say you're not porting and want to receive a new Kogan number?

      • +2

Yes that's what bonky + others are suggesting

  • +1

has anyone tried using the voucher on an existing Kogan service ?… as a recharge?

  • Bought 90 min ago. Only received order confirmation but no voucher code. Has offer expired?

  • no receiving voucher code :(

  • I need to port a number.
So what's the cheapest way to get a number?
    $2 Optus prepaid card?

    • +2

according to bonky, you don't actually need a number to port.

  • If I have a 365 day plan at the moment which expires in January, can I use this recharge voucher to add an extra month on my plan?

    • +2

      dont think so

  • +3

Got one yesterday and activate it just now for free (I had free kogan sim card at my work desk). Can't believe it there is giveaway prepaid mobile plan lol. Thanks OP.

    • +2

You knew about this yesterday but didn't post it?

      • Lol, only got it when OP posted.

  • Don't think Ruslans giving out anymore codes lol

  • Which company can we quickly port out to and back in if you're a Kogan customer? Quickest and cheapest?

    • +1

      You NEEDHELP? Here's help :)

      • Cheers. No company on prepaid can charge you a port out fee can they since you have no credit and don't pay monthly bills? Also, with the Telstra sim card once you activate it do you actually need to recharge on it or can you just activate it and have nothing on it and then port out back that same day for free?

        • +1

No company on prepaid can charge you a port out fee can they since you have no credit and don't pay monthly bills?

Generally correct, but there's TPG who don't technically offer prepaid but offer a no contract post-paid (I believe).. they are the only ones I know of who charge a port out fee, which from memory is $11.

Also, with the Telstra sim card once you activate it do you actually need to recharge on it or can you just activate it and have nothing on it and then port out back that same day for free?

Pretty sure you can activate a $2 Telstra SIM without recharging. It's Optus $2 ones that need recharging.

    • Just use a $2 telstra sim. They don't need extra credit added to them unlike Optus.

Or you can risk getting Uber-ed and not port anything across.

      • +2

Just don't use Optus, this offer will be over before you get the Optus SIM activated :p

  • +2

Just received email(s) saying sim card(s) have been dispatched :) says 5-9 business days for delivery.

  • -1

I wonder how some users were able to recharge with this offer on their existing accounts!

    • They did Not Recharge Anything, they just Activated a New Kogan sim with this New Start Up Credit Voucher, even with same account name and same details.

  • +1

    Ripper deal, thank you OP!

  • +1

    Cheers OP :)

  • Can someone please explain to me how this works

I’m currently on Voda phone pre paid

Is this deal free for the first month and then you pay monthly $49

    Confused

    • +4

This is a free month on one of their higher pre-paid plans. Once the month is over, you can either pay money to recharge and keep using Kogan, or port to another provider, or let me number expire. You're not obliged to continue on past the first month - it's not a lock in contract or anything like that.

Supposedly, you need to bring a number over to Kogan from another service to get this offer, but some people are saying they've successfully taken advantage of it without using their existing number.

Apparently you can't do this if you're coming from Vodafone, so you might be out of luck.

You could try obtaining a Telstra $2 SIM, activating it, and then using it as your "existing" number to get this deal from Kogan.

      • How much is the month if I want to continue recharging
        $49 monthly ?

Right so I need to change my number to another provider then change it back to kogan provider

Wow that’s abit of a headache

I was looking into there 365days
        Pay $327 on sale

Is this a better option to take

        • +2

You can recharge with whichever plan you want after the month expires - as I said, it's not a contract, you're not locked in to anything.

Only you can decide which deal is best for you. Comes down to what features you need, your data usage, where you live (network coverage considerations), whether you have an existing home-internet provider who might offer a better deal on a mobile account etc etc.
