Malaysian Airlines Business Class Flights from Kuala Lumpur - Bangkok in December from $256

130

Malaysia Airlines seems to be having a promo on Business Class flights. Booked tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok return last night on Business Class for $256 over Christmas/New Years holidays. I get this deal is not for everyone, and I did a quick search and I don't think the promo extends to Australian destinations. So it would be good for the people who are there anyway. I haven't checked if the promo extends to other countries, but definitely heaps of availability on the KL-BKK route.

Good Luck.

@mods, I am not sure if the title is suitable, please help change it.

Awesome, thanks for the update. By the way it is not just over december. I checked dates in January (Australia day period), comes up as $267. This trip is 80 status credits. Which will definitely help retaining Gold QFF.

Also KL>Singapore is $135 business class in december one way, economy is actually more expensive (17th of December).

KL>Colombo return business is ~$421 business on skyscanner. (160 status credits!)

On a similar note, I've recently booked a flight with Thai Airways in Dec for KUL-BKK and then BKK-SYD, all in business class and it came to a total of $1330AUD. For that time of year being peak, this seems to be pretty good value if that's the kind of experience you are looking for. The KUL-BKK sector is only 2 hrs from gate to gate so I guess it's a reason why the fare is relatively low. I would assume that this is also partly why the MAS fare mentioned by OP is so inexpensive for what you get.

As a comparison, I booked a flight on Air Asia X for SYD-KUL so it would complete the round trip, and that ticket alone came to around $930 for an economy fare with just a few add-ons. Certainly seems to show the bang for your buck with the business class fare in this thread.

Goes to show you how much Qantas/Virgin/Jetstar/Tiger are gouging us domestically

I would imagine the cost of staff wages, airport fees, etc would be much higher in Australia than in Malaysia or Thailand, so anything involving an Australian airport should cost more.

MAS always has been competitive within this sector (SEA) for return flights emanating from KUL. August just gone, I got KUL-HKT (Phuket) return for AUD$130. 1 and 1/4 hrs flight time each way, with great flight times. Airasia, of late, are just coming in under competitors prices and once you do all their add ons, not competitive. KUL-PER (emanating KUL) return can normally be around AUD $360 however, with now only one flight per day each way, their arrival at Perth and departure times x Perth are in the wee hours.

And on narrow bodied 737s. :(

      • Thanks Jack. I believe you bought this to our attention before. I see your a Perth boy/person hence: My preferred option out now is Malindo. Full service and currently $204 one way for my date/s in Feb next year. My return is Scoot KUL-SIN-PER next April. Of course I avoid Airasia and the extensive/exhaustive walk times at KLIA2 whereby I missed my flight home last February. Overall: dep KUL 11am- 3hrs at Changi- arrive PER 8pm- got that for a song at $91, whereas I paid $130 for the same last September. I also shat myself when I realised Scoot stating 'departure airport is KUL' That 'KUL' was in fact KLIA2… but departure gate only a 2 minute walk once through

  • For those that like a wine, no alcohol gets served on MAS sectors under 3 hours.

    Surprised I haven't seen any comments referencing MH380 or MH17 yet…

Does this deal come with life insurance??

      • +1

Life insurance from an Asian airline. God that sounds like the start of a bad joke (or telemarketing call)!

  • On a related note, what's the best way to get alerts for Business class fares from Perth to Europe for mid-late next year?
