Saw this deal from slickdeals, looks like a good deal if you don't need the 4k/60fps feature of the new Yi 4k+.

Hard to justify when there are a million SJCam clones available for less than quarter of the price.

Got any specific links to a good quality 4K one?

Personally, I have the Tekcam branded one, but AFAIK they're all exactly the same hardware at this price point. I bought two spare batteries and a standalone charger for $15 from ebay - they're the same for all these cameras. The Xiaomi one will surely be better quality - but you have to wonder if the better quality is worth the difference in price.

edit: Further research says that the sensor in these doesn't actually support real 4k. I only run mine at 1080 so I hadn't noticed. Mine is basically just a safety helmet cam for my motorcycle, and a cheap toy for holidays. Reiterating, the Yi will have better quality.

was about to write before noticing your edit: but given its an action camera - i think the quality of video "should" be alot more important to those in this market… for the others that dont care/need it they should definitely be looking at these cheapie alternatives.

agreed - don't hold back! share the love.

They all claimed to be 4K - any good suggestion for a good cheap 4K video camera?

  • If you want cheaper than this deal, I recommend sjcam5000x, I have one and it produces high quality video. But if given a choice again with this price point, I will choose this camera, I have high regard for Xiaomi's quality and this is comparable with Gopro but half the price. Only reason I didn't buy this camera before is because it's almost double the price of SjCam.

    • You confused with Yi and Mi. As far as I know, they are two different companies. They are totally different. Mi don't sell Yi's product for long time.

      • +1

Not confused at all, I know they are 2 different companies but they are part of the large Xiaomi ecosystem including Mijia, Yeelight and other start-up companies. Not unless there has been changes recently which I'm not aware.

        • They are separating.
