These are great to resell at the markets.

    • Which markets?

  • +1

Yeah for $13 I think this is pretty decent.

    • That ratchet will break pretty easy. I've had sets like that. For some reason cheapo spanners are ok but cheapo socket sets are always rubbish.

      • I think for $13 you’d expect that it won’t last forever, but yeah I think that the mechanisms are the weak points, whereas the cheaper spanners are still forged.

        • +5

Yup not exactly a mechanics set for $13, great for keeping in the boot in case of an emergency

    Insotre or online?

    • +5

      They do online?
Thats what always made them rubbish compared to SCA is that they have no online.

    • +7

An online store!? What year do you think this?

      • +3

'bargain crazy' is living in the future

      • Pffft, "Online store", as if online shopping will ever catch on.

      • They can't. Their trick is to make you do the journey to their store, buy all the things you don't need on display and pay the price they ask for.

This will take care of one present for the little fella and hopefully save me having mine slowly dissappear.

  • good little kit for simple things but dont expect the best performance when things are on tight. I tore through the wall of one of these sockets while loosening a nut from my motorbike

    • +1

I used my kit to take off the mower blades for sharpening and they worked fine. The nuts were rusted and very tight.

      • +1

Elbow grease works great on tight nuts.

        • I was waiting for it.

        • +1

@Stix: If you need a hand with your tight nuts, all you have to do is ask.

        • @faceman54: The OzBargain community is so helpful.

    Secret Santa present sorted.

    Any cable ties?

    • That’s what I was thinking

    • +7

No cable ties, I counted every piece in the picture and it came to 70

  • +2

I'm after the left handed version

I have a cheapo socket set that has got me through but I have lived without a spanner set for far too long. Thanks OP.

NRMA Members also get 20% off at Repco during October which would make it $10.40.

    • +1

20% off only applies to full priced items

      • Yes but is this a sale item or just a cheap everyday price?

        • Sale

  • +1

Cool, I was just saying I needed a socket set to use twice a year. You've found it OP!

  • +1

At this price, could get one for my boy to play with and probably be cheaper than buying an actual toy set.

    • -1

Except for risking hurting themselves with these.

      • +1

        Lighten up, they're just sockets.

      • +4

Not a baby we're talking about here.. If he did, he'll soon learn hard objects can hurt, don't do that again.

  • Great price, hopefully they don't made from butter

  • Nice price, downside is I'll have to spend $10-15 on petrol just to drive to the nearest Repco in Sydney :(

Cheap tools don't last. $13 tools won't even be single-use.

Buy Crescent/Cooper branded stuff if you want a decent tool at a cheap price point. My 150-odd piece set from Bunnings has lasted 13 years so far.

    • +11

      Not even single use?

Do they disintegrate upon opening the container?

      • No, but they don't complete a single job (ie, they break on the nut without actually undoing it.) Don't be sassy :P

(actually, at that price point, don't be surprised if they do disintegrate prior to first use!)

        • All good :)

          Was just being a tool….

  • Doesn't matter what brand, using 12 point sockets on hex nuts, you are already doing it wrong.

Not enough stock to go around at my local Repco. Found the last piece lying on a shelf labelled $51 (full price). The sales rep was surprised they had one left :) pretty decent for $13. Can be used to change exterior bulbs on my car. Fitment would have costed me more.

  • +1

None at my Repco. No regrets though.

  • North Parramatta OOS.

  • None at Richmond, Box Hill South, VIC. And my friend did try other stores in Melbourne, still the same.
According to the others reply, seems no stock in most of the local store. This is ridiculous!
Next time, If I own a shop, I can tell everyone that I sell Mercedes for only $1, start next Monday, when people come, Sry, this is out of stock : )

    • +1

I got two sets at box hill store this morning. 1 set left approx 11:30am. Probably gone now :)

      • Damn, i went there on my way to work on Thursday. Their staffs told me none in stock. : (

  • +1

These are great for keeping in the car as an emergency tool kit. They're actually smaller than they look in the photo
