  • Thank god it's FTTN inclusive, at least it's going to be useful to most of us given the NBN/Government spat..

Shipping is $18.14 which seems very expensive. You can buy this cheaper from the same companies eBay page using the 10% off code - comes to $148.50 - $1.40 cheaper then buying direct from their website, a little more if you use Cash Rewards.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Netcomm-NF18ACV-NBN-Ready-AC1600…

Works out even cheaper from the Warehouse1 website - $145.82 including shipping.

Or $140.60 including shipping from the IT Madness store:

  • 36 minutes in and nobody has made any comment if this has been patched for KRACK???

    http://support.netcommwireless.com/faq/krack-key-reinstallat…

    • Because from your link it even says -

Additionally the main attack that has been published and tested does NOT exploit Access Points but instead targets clients; at this stage any attack against Access Points is purely theoretical. Thus the priority at this time should be updating clients such as laptops, PCs, smartphones and smart TV’s.

So patching clients is much more important than the AP.

      • This is netcomm trying to evade any responsibility. (-1)

Both wireless access points and clients are vulnerable…Its just that clients are more likely to be attacked.

        https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/3kaxz3/krack-wifi…

Still nobody asks if the router has a patch. Not worth buying for $0 if it isnt.

Much more likely for this to impact clients when they connect to say a public wifi network as oppose to their home AP, unless they happen to be unlucky with who their neighbour is Ganga.

  • I used it for few days. wifi reception was an issue in my double brick house. so had to send back. Though customer service at Innotel was great

    • To be fair, that's not really the routers fault… wireless signals can't penetrate solid objects, you'll need a repeater somewhere in the house to bounce the signal, otherwise buy yourself a powerline adapter.

Oh, but my new netgear router is reaching where netcomm failed. Maybe external antennas are better

  • Can someone comment on whether this modem router is actually future proof ? Are all the claims of NBN readiness true ?
