Dilemma - Short Distance but Need a Car with Front Facing & Rear Facing Seat

I'm going to take an example here.

  • Let say we plan to go with 2 kids (2 yo & 7 mo) from A to B —> approx. 50 km.
  • B is approx. 10 mins from the closest local train station.

Hiring a car for 1 day is too expensive, whilst I'm stuck if I alight in train station near B, how do I get to B?

Any thoughts is much appreciated.

You better be, Melbourne. I expect to be astonished.

  • Train + Uber + Kids carseats

    • Finding Uber with kids seat i think is going to be a hassle.

    taxi

    • no taxi will carry front and rear facing child seats.

      • I read recently they are not required by law for taxis. Maybe lap seat belt for 2y.o and hold 7m on your lap? Might need to check the laws for your state.

Edit: a bunch of people beat me to this below :)

This is for vic but not sure which state you are wanting advice for

Does my child need a child restraint in a taxi? Hide
        In taxis:

children aged under 1 year must travel in the back seat, but do not have to use a child restraint
children aged 1 year and over must be in their own seat, with their own properly fastened seatbelt if there is no child restraint or booster seat available
In Victoria, taxis do not have to provide child restraints or booster seats for customers. However, they must have at least one anchorage point if passengers want to bring their own child restraint.

If possible it is recommended that you take your child’s restraint or booster seat with you.
