That’s crazy talk! I suppose you’re a man of principles though which I can respect.

I’m paying $4 a month for 2GB and unlimited calls/texts. 28 day month? Tbh I don’t mind having my data roll over just that bit sooner.

Great deal. Switched Mum and dad over.

      • Who are you with and what is the plan?

        • Amaysim

Was a deal on here. Only goes for 6 months.

  • And that's how you get 13 months in a year

    renews every 28 days

  • Yay, I'm just about to start my $19 for six-month contract, and this will be the perfect plan to continue on after it's finished. Yippee.

  • Thanks OP but couldn't move to plan and keep existing Prepaid Amaysim number. In the drop list of current provider with existing number, there's no "Amaysim" listed, thus no way of keeping the number. Anybody with this issue?

    • You don't do a port, that's for new users. You sign in your Amaysim account and go to Manage Plan then Change Plan. But be careful, if you not on AYG but are in the middle of a pack, you may lose remaining quota. Wait till your quota ends, then Change Plan.

      • Thanks. Can't use the referral link to get the credit then? I'm on As you go prepaid, 12 bucks left, will I lose the money?

        • Found the answer to my question on left over credit. The conditions says "If you are a Pre-paid customer, we will charge the price of the Plan against your Airtime Credit or chosen payment method". So I suppose they'll deduct from the 12 credit left. Also found out referral credit is for new customers, forget I asked.

        • Well neither you nor the referee can get the referral bonus because you're not a new customer. And yes, they will take from your existing credit first when you spend. What you might lose in a plan change is quota on the current plan, if not AYG.

        • @greenpossum: Thank you.

  • What block size do these guys use?

1Gb gets used up pretty quick when there is a 1Mb minimum amount. Every poll of your emails costs you 1Mb. I couldn't see it listed on the site so I assume this is where the catch is.

I'm on an old plan with a 0.10Mb minimum block size and only use about 100Mb a month. The block size makes a huge difference to how much data you chew through.

    • From their 'critical info summary' pdf:

      Mobile Calls & Data usage
Call minutes are calculated in 60 second increments. Data is counted in kilobytes and includes uploads and downloads.

      So that's not bad actually.

    • Measured per kb, which is approx a 0.001Mb "minimum block size".

      • The rounding of the charges is something else to look out for. Read this in Jeenee's T&Cs:

4.6 How do we calculate charges for data services?
        (a) We will charge you for the volume of data uploaded and downloaded to your mobile phone.
        (b) Charges are based upon 1 kilobyte increments and are rounded to the nearest cent.
        (c) Charges for part of a 1 kilobyte increment will be rounded up to the next 1 kilobyte increment

So even though they may only measure the data in 1Kb blocks, the charge per transfer still gets rounded to 1c, from 0.001c, which is a huge jump. So it's 1c every time your phone polls for e-mails, which quickly adds up.

        • That sort of definition is standard for all operators. The data charge is based on a session, not a single transaction, which is will be more than 1 kB. If you keep dropping in and out of Internet connectivity that may be a lot of sessions though.

        • The use of block sizes is standard, but the rounding to 1c seems a bit excessive.
An old plan I am on with TPG has a minimum charge of $0.00275.

If you are walking in and out of wifi in your home/office, going through train tunnels etc, it costs you 1c each time instead of 0.275c.

        • @shaneh: In practice I've found that this seldom happens. 3G used to drop out a lot in the Sydney tunnels but 4G stays on. Also recent Android releases have the great improvement that they don't drop the mobile data connection until an authenticated WiFi session is available; it used to be very annoying to lose mobile connection due to an open but not free hotspot. Also when you do, or the phone does, anything simple, you are usually up for about 20-50kB. Most phones chatter all the time, sending location data, syncing calendars, etc.

  • If you have a dual-sim phone, a plan like this, coupled with a vodafone prepaid sim is a good combination.

$10 with vodafone, doesn't expire for a year, and you can buy either 2GB for $3, or 4GB for $5. If you use the $5 one on the weekend you actually get 8GB, until the new year. Expires within 2 calendar days, but if you're the kind who only uses their data heavily for planned things (going to a party, weekend, holiday, tethering) then you really get a lot of freedom.

    • "If you have a dual-sim phone, a plan like this, coupled with a vodafone prepaid sim is a good combination."

i have dual sims, one of the sims for personnel stuff and considering what to do when it expire end of Jan 2018.

  • 28 days? I don’t get it. Is this the Martian Calendar? What is going to happen to the other few days of every month here on Earth ? Is there no end to demented market “engineering”? Or it is actually a good thing that works for the consumer? Ha, ha what was I thinking to write that???

  • I am currently using Optus prepaid but thinking of moving to amaysim $10 28 day deal. Could i keep my number and do you still get same coverage with Amaysim as with Optus.
Also I spend time in Europe but only use sms so assume the roaming would work the same as with Optus prepaid?

    Thanks

Nice to see that there are now a fair amount of options for $10/month plans (Amaysim, Jeenee, Ovi, Bendigo, Exetel and Spintel come to mind).
However, i would like to see $5 plans - for say 100 mins calls, free txt and 500 MB. That would be perfect for my folks ;)

    • I would like to see free calls, txts and data.

    • Has anything similar come up yet?

  • After the offer now comes the stick. Amaysim's AYG data rates have gone up to 15.4¢/MB. Think it used to be half that. Looks like they are trying to push customers onto a plan for data instead of AYG. Time to consider switching to Aldimobile; they're still at 5¢/MB on AYG.

  • Great to see a plan improvement. Existing customers could not use their intro deal prices they have had of late. I was about to move provider. This is ideal for me. Both my wife and I work at home so we have wifi and pcs most of the time. We travel a bit for work so unlimited calls is just piece of mind, no need to worry about wife being on for a chat. 1GB is fine, mostly google maps data, $10 is a nice price.

  • good. plan to more from Vaya

  • Will this work with a optus prepaid phone that's locked?

  • @mobilemenia Just signed up then and used your $10 referral link too, thanks!

  • How does this work with Amaysim? Do I order starter kit and get sent Voucher code instantly but need to wait for the physical sim card for few weeks?

    • I signed up using the OP's referral link in the main post above to get $10 credit for premium services which is valid for a year. Then signed up to a prepaid plan on their website. It took about a week to get the sim sent out in mail. Still on my first month of the $10 plan and couldn't fault it at all. Really impressed so far.

  • Bring back 30 day plans costs too much for 28 days

  • Only 28 day plan not 30 you get charged a extra month go to tio illegal

  • Need something like this for 3 months that has unlimited calls to India data not as important but calls to India and Australia important.

  • What's the cheapest way to port out from Amaysim and back in as quickly as possible?

  • so much rage for the 28 day expiry! Given this, assume lots will jump on to Coles Mobile 35 day expiry prepaid plans? Cheaper than amaysim in every way.

  • Bought this for the grandparents. Big warning though. After you buy the voucher form Groupon you CAN NOT choose to top up the account with vouchers you buy in store (eg supermarkets) . The system comes up with an error blocking you from doing this. You have to give amaysim your credit card or Paypal details. Seems like they do this so they can auto recharge your account. Really annoying cos the oldies would prefer to just get a voucher in store when they shop and not go online

  • $10 for unlimited calls and text are great for non-internet mobile or only when need the internet to be use are great…

brought 3 of $30 Sim for $8 offer for my cousin…let see how they go with Optus mobile in their areas, if not amaysims then might tell them get Belong $10 one…

  • if i got $30 sim card, can i choose $10 plan? the left over considered as credit and use it for recharge when it expire.

  • Does anyone else get a problem when they try to log into amaysim where it doesn't show you your sim plans or display 'tabs' like personal details, account settings etc.?

Its driving me nuts, i've tried firefox, chromium. Both without any extensions.

Tech support hasn't been any help.

Even a direct link or something?

    cheers

    • Yes. Clicking on the banner header redirects you to where it should be going in the first place.

  • Ordered and got the sim, how long do I have to activate the service?
