  • Will probably be about as popular as yesterday's deal.

T510 should be under $1000 for base configuration!

For the base price with the discount in Australia $1349 I can get a fully pimped T510 from the US site $1314 (no GST though).
Change the clover power cord that plugs into the adapter ($10 max) and bob is truly your uncle.

Equivalent in Aus site is AU$2,838.20 less the 35% discount AU$1,844.83 - but processor is i5-540M instead of i5-560M.

    • Can you get the US site to ship to Aus?

      • I think they can do that

        • I didn't think it was possible without using a third party (eg. PriceUSA). The reason I asked was because I have tried it myself.

    • May get a better deal from Dell USA with the Latitude E5410 or E5510:
      http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/latitude-laptops

Get up to 39% off Dell Latitude E5410/E5510 laptops priced >$999 with coupon code RHCZBF8BTMSFT0.

      Regarding the T510 costing above:
      Cost from Lenovo USA: $1314
      Shipping: $100 (approx.)
      Import duty: $65 (approx.)
      GST: $145 (approx.)
      US mail forwarder: $8.50 - $20 (approx.)
      TOTAL: $1645

You will end up only saving around 10% compared to Lenovo Australia's price of $1845.

That's if everything goes smoothly. Also watch out for US sales tax depending on which state your mail forwarder does business.

      Worth it?

      • wow, you did a lot of research mate.
Was wandering, if you could tell me, when do we get charged for Import duty?
normally, while importing goods from China, I never paid import duty ( though they all were under 100 dollars)

        • For imports over $1000 you will be required to pay import duty of 10%.

        • If value of shipment is less than AU$1000 (not including freight) then no duty or GST is payable.

Over AU$1000 there is 5% import duty and 10% GST (on sum of shipment value, freight cost and I think also import duty).

        • There is no import duty on notebooks and any PC equipment, only 10% GST.

      • It's true that it is quite an effort to do it - but we are all bargain hunters here.
I think it's best to keep the price under AU$1000 so you avoid Import duty and GST.

        I purchased a Thinkpad x200s last year through Price USA - http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=160314…
It was an Amex only special and I don't have amex.. but fortunately Carolina at PriceUSA does so she purchased it for me and all went perfectly… until I realised that the x200s doesn't have a trackpad. So put it on eBay and made a few hundred dollars profit. I actually managed to get the clover power cord for free off a friend.

I may consider a mail-forwarding company in future depending on much Price USA are charging at the time.
Currently it looks reasonable at .99 vs 1.015 (real) and 5%, but I'm not buying now.

        • I was referring to your costing comparison. All that effort to save 10%? I don't think it's worth it in that particular case.

  • sry double post , my bad

  • -2

im looking for a laptop for less than 1k with decent graphics and this lenova sale is NOT better than some of the laptops at MLN.

    • and?

    • Strange comment.

The Lenovos at MLN are mostly IdeaPads I think. This deal is for ThinkPads. Hardly a fair comparison between consumer and business grade laptops.

Good luck getting a ThinkPad at < $1000 from Australia.

  • Coupon doesnt seem to work on x201 with free ultrabase

  • This code doesn't seem to work when you customise your system - did notice a footnote that said 'Offer excludes special offer configurations and bundles', I tried to customise an X series and use the code, kept getting the message that this code is not valid for this configuration.

Makes it about useless IMHO - if you have to choose their preloaded (meant for them not me) configurations, maybe even just the standard warranty which doesn't affect whether they have to make the laptop from scratch.

    • It works fine with the configs either preloaded or customised, for instance the X201 with free ultrabase:

      [AUWEEKEND] -AU$434.80
      Estimated total: AU$1,739.20

Just be sure there is no spaces or gaps in the code or before/after it.
