what are the chances of good guys having them when apple's wait is 5-6weeks?

    • +1

      They must have some

    • -2

Apple actually does a good job of looking after it's resellers, there definitely aren't any accusations of biasing the stock in their own stores.

Buy 2 and save $4. Problem solved =D

      • $50 off would have been more of a bargain… So I bought 25 at this price and I'm going to keep one and broden the rest for a sweet profit!

  • just wait for ebay 20% off again, happenened with IP8 so cant see why this wont be the same

    • +8

      because no-one has stock?

    • This will be excluded in the t&c.

This gets my vote for bargain of the year!

  • +14

Better off buying it from the Apple store and using cashrewards (1.5%) for a better saving!

Excludes iPhone x in the conditions. Will cash rewards know what you've purchased?

      • Good pick up, no idea!

      • +1

I used cash rewards to buy an Apple Watch series 3 and it was excluded, so they do check the t&c.

        • … revoked…

        • Thanks bud, I was spewing for a second since I didnā€™t realise Apple was on CR and I bought 3x 256GB Xā€™s….

  • I rather pay full price at apple or Myer, TGG customer service/warranty are terrible

    • +4

You're better off dealing with Apple directly after purchasing the phone

Just get her the Maserati she keeps asking for, the iPhone isn't impressive now so many peasants have them

    • If you don't buy her an iPad as well she'll be "left behind", never to recover.

  • Will this ship on the 4th or 5-6weeks like apple

    • Delivery says 3-5 business days. However people have gone in today and reserved an iPhone for pickup on saturday.

      • Which TGG store? Can they guarantee Sat pick up?

        • I cant say which but someone on whirlpool has stated they've gone into a store and put down a deposit for one.
I'd ring a round your area and see if any are expected to get some then reserve.

        • @dylanando:

I just called TGG and they said I can't put down deposit. It can only be pre-ordered online. =/

    • +1

Until they match the price which they will.

    • That's if you can get one from Officeworks. Already tried placing a preorder through them and it was unavailable.

    • +3

Oficeworks price match is a total con and it's about time they got fined for it.

Hiding stock when they don't want to price match is disgusting. Their policy is to match, if it's in stock, they'd better match it!

      • Yeah always comes up with some lousy excuses like oh we don't price match online order requires a promo code from competitors etc.

        • -3

Lol, officeworks wont pricematch shit you're getting as a HK import etc. get over it. The warranty is different. Non-genuine charger. minor hardware/software differences in some cases. might be called the same thing but it isnt necessarily the same thing. If you really want a Hong Kong import go and get it. You know that australian stock is better and hence you're complaining.

        • @obit11: i was getting it to price match the good guys ipad deal the other day. Not dven through ebay store but tgg online store. What makes you think i am stupid enough not reading their price beat policy?
Edit: no wonder you made such an idiot comment, employee of OW. send your OW a message to your human resource department not hire some stupid people think they can set their own policies and judge people but not knowing the whole fact.

        • @obit11: Tried once order a camera price matched, staff reserved for me and Manager cancel the order said no stock. Awesome service to keep your money in the bank.

        • @wtfnodeal: The OW policy does state "Cash back and coupon offers" are not valid. I imagine the good guys made it use a coupon intentionally for this reason. The OW staff would only be doing their jobs and as their told. I don't know about you but i wouldn't mind keeping my job. There are some people out there who price-match anything. I myself wont. I apologies for my assumption

        • @dlovep: I'm not sure of all the details of yours. We can hold stuff for up to 24 hours technically (excludes some items). I would like to think there was a reason/mistake at play rather than someone going out of their way to ruin yours. Was it not something you could have price-matched at the register and click and collected (ie ordered)?

        • @obit11: the cashback and coupon code meant for participating retailers exclusive cashback and targeted coupon code not generally available for public. The bloody TGG advertised promo code on their website and catalogue was for everyone to use. Such OW T&C price beat condition if meant for all promo code should be investigated by ACCC for false price beat advertising.

        • @obit11: The staff did hold the stock for me as I can see him keying in the register, cause I need to withdraw cash for other things, so I leave name and mobile and I ask to paid like 10+ minutes, went to ATM and back in less than 10 minutes, couldn't find the same staff and thought I can check with the Manager… thanks to his professional customer service, so I save myself some money.

        • @wtfnodeal: Id then ask, why was the coupon necessary in the first place if it was a public price? It would have been deliberate. As i say, those with the OW desk jobs have set their rules, the retail staffers follow those. Don't be unhappy with the wrong people. I do understand what you're saying, but I can't do anything about it. You know what happens to the people who say anything…

        • @dlovep: Sounds weird. You can get money out at OW Point of Sale. Perhaps they decided that price match was invalid or something (and whoever said yes made a mistake). Not to sure.

        • @obit11: public price for online purchase to get rid off excessive gold colour iPad from warehouse but not at individual store stocks. The code can prevent people trying to buy Store stocks which will result in TGG will have to distribute the warehouse stocks to individual stores. Ship from warehouse directly to customers is better than to stores and occupy shelves. I have to conclude most OW staff are not properly trained and therefore they see price beat differently from one staff to another. Even the same Store this staff can tell a complete different story about price beat from another staff.

        • @obit11: That's how I felt, like the staff is keen but not the Manager, anyway OW is not in my list since that day. Good luck on getting a price match.

        • @obit11:

I've caught Osborne Park WA red handed hiding hdds out the back that they didn't want to price match.

If they are willing to price match then they change the price nationally asap so there's no extra 10% price beat

        • @justtoreply: On the rare occasion in my store, we can't fit all the hdd stock at the register. So it can end up out the back. Could be "lost" potentially. I dont see a need or a reason they would want to hide it intentionally. If it states we have stock, I have a look around and see if we do. E.g. oh there's 12 hdd's allegedly but i see none, could be a couple of faulty returns maybe? I doubt there'd be double figures —-> check out the back. If it says 1 maybe 2, that's where i assume faultys/returns. Worst comes to worst, click and collect at the register with the price matched price. easy. There would be some staff that just assume if there's none at the front, there's none at all and not care i guess.

        • @obit11:

Literally, stock on shelf being removed. Red handed. You don't have to believe it, i don't care.

I don't shop at OW anymore unless they are the only possible place i can buy something (I haven't gone back since this fiasco, 2-3 years ago, until about 2 weeks ago)

        • @wtfnodeal: yeah, a knowledgeable but socialable tech person is something that not always walks through the door for a job application realistically. I like to think my colleagues at my store are all on the same level. laziness could occur on the occasion though i suppose. My store gets the technology staff make the decision on yes or no rather then someone who doesn't know about the stuff. Again, i see your point. But the policy is how it is i guess.

        • @justtoreply: Could it perhaps have been a pricing error you were matching? I can't think of a logical reason for that to occur regardless. But sure, each to their own.

        There's certainly a robbery going on.. :)

      • A steal done by Apple

      • i didnt think id ever hear almost $2k for a phone is a steal.

Not since the 1990s anyway :-)
Greed and conspicuous consumption are back in vogue.

    • Excludes Apple. Is this enforced?

  • +3

    G.T.F.O.O.H. Does it have B28? :)

  • Despite the price this will almost certainly be a very hot item, although not as hot as a Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

  • +10

10 upvotes? Are ****** kidding me, rofl.

    • +8

Agree, it's probably the most expensive consumer phone ever released, and people think $2 out of $1.5-2k is worthy of OzBargain? Please, a bit of perspective people!

      • +2

Also 2.5% cash back? Also availability issues?

        • My inner Broden is beckoning…. However my previous experiences on Gumtree have turned me off.

        • @WaywardOne: Yup. Also risky as not sure if TGG will accept a return (unopened). Might have to sell it at a slight loss if no one buys initially.

        • @raven2000:

Yeah; eBay and PayPal fees mean you'd have to sell it at 10.5% over RRP just to break even

    • -1

$1.5k+ for a phone? Hell no, not a bargain.

  • +1

I ordered one - let's see if it actually arrives in time.

  • +5

Since when a pre-order mobile phone availability with 0.1% discount become a BARGAIN (even if you leave aside the insane ripoff launch RRP debate)? In all seriousness this post belongs to forums as an mobile phone availability update for the dedicated Apple fanboys.

  • +1

Keeping your cash in the back for the next 10 days would give you $2 interest.

    • in the back of what ?

      • +13

        Sorry typo, meant wank.

  • There's no pickup in Sydney…

    • I dont think they're showing stock online however if you ring they'll be able to help you.

  • Does this have the photo unlock feature like Samsung?

    • Nah sorry no photo unlock but there is face unlock if that helps
