Tough argument, as there were 2 layers of packaging previously (foil + cardboard) as apposed to one now. No doubt the intention to change was for cost savings (from the company perspective), but from a waste perspective I'd say its arguable which format is better.

From living in the UK. Digestives were always sans cardboard. Just the plastic wrapper there
I still have a fair few boxes of digestives in the cupboard from when they were last on sale, but every time I see this new packaging at Woolies, I shudder at the thought of my stockpile running out and having to replace it with those plastic packs.
