  • OKAY CALM DOWN!

    • IT APPEARS OUR FELLOW BOT HUMAN IS GOING THROUGH SOME CRITICAL FAILURES DEPRESSED STATES AND WE SHOULD PERHAPS RESTART/UPDATE CONSOLE HIM.

    • It is cut and paste from the website.. you need to calm down

      • I was in a hurry to post it…

        Ctrl+A -> Ctrl+C -> Delete headers -> Delete footers -> Post :D

  • DONT WORRY MY CAPS LOCK KEY IS BROKEN TOO!!

  • No deal - you must construct additional pylons first

  • I was going to buy the game when my new pc arrived , haven't play it since I replace my computer to mac.

  • Great! Does this mean I no longer have to play on the US servers?
Hopefully we get more players in Oz.

    • Australian servers are on the Americas Region.

    • I'm not sure why some people think only US region has access to AUS servers, all region should have access to it. Problem is, regardless of which region, the game picks which server to host it on depending on the players location. So you really can't be certain the game will be hosted in AUS.

In saying that, everyone really should be playing on the US region. Unless you are playing the korean region all the other regions are pretty dead.

    • They have had Aus servers for ages.

      • They never had a Aus SC2 server. They had a SEA server but that was often worse than the NA server for Australia so hardly anyone played on it.

        • I've played on the Australian SC2 server most/all the time…

        • Amazing they finally released a AUS SC2 server when legacy of the void was released? When SC2 first came out we had to play on the SEA server.

        • Australian server for Starcraft 2 came out November 02, 2015. Over 2 years ago.

  • Amazing game, been playing it since beta :)

    • Game has changed over time to become way too micro and harasss focused. Incredibly stressful and not fun to be able to lose a game because you didn't pay attention to the right spot on the map for literally 3 seconds or you mismicro for 3 seconds. Same applies for every matchup.

      • What you described is really what starcraft is all about - also in comparison to broodwar, it is no where near as unforgiving.

I love the game and I love the scene but I can't bring myself to play ladder for the same reason because of stress too though.

        • I also love the scene. I still watch Starcraft 2 to this day, having left the ladder scene a long time ago. Their aim was to make it entertaining for the spectator, a goal they have achieved but at the expense of the game being fun for casual players. Because of ridiculous AOE, terrible terrible damage, 20 different harass units, a game can turn on a dime and is always unpredictable. If a player is well ahead s/he can still lose. That's fun to watch but it's not fun to play. It's not fun to earn many advantages throughout a game only to lose because you failed to marine split well one time. I don't mind losing. In fact the game makes it so you lose roughly 50% of your games unless you are high GM. However, I don't like the fact there are so many ways you can lose in an instant due to small mistakes.

You say that harass and micro is what starcraft is all about. It was not always so. Look at how the game was in WoL compared to now. It was far more important to have good macro, good strategy than it is now. Now it is far more important to have higher APM and be harassing and microing your battles than it is to have good macro and strategy (compared to before). IMO not fun for most people diamond and below but to each their own.

Also disagree that brood war is more unforgiving. There are much less ways you can instantly lose the game in brood war. It is just harder to control due to all the QoL things that didn't exist (12 unit selection, no multi building queuing etc). Brood war the micro was much more fun, controlling units and taking advantage of the way they move. In SC2 the units are designed from the ground up to be microed. So many more units with manually casted abilities.

        • I don't like PvP… That's why i'm normally playing PvE in Co-Op :D

        • @Xastros:

The GAME doesn't make you lose 50%, you just lose 50%!

          Upgrade your constant micro!

        • @serpserpserp: LOL you don't understand. The game matches you up against progressively harder opponents until your win rate becomes roughly 50%. If you win too much it matches you higher. If you lose too much it matches you lower. Only those at GM can maintain a win rate much above 50% because there is no one harder to match you against.

I don't enjoy just constantly microing hence I don't play the game anymore. It's less about strategy and more about control which I don't prefer. like I said, to each their own.

        • @Xastros:
That is essentially what ladders are designed to do. When your win rate stays at 50%, your rank is representing you skill level.
constantly winning will give you higher skill level opponents to justify your skill level. If you are unable to beat them, then you stay at whatever rank you were, thus still 50% win rate. GMs aren't there because the system wants them to be there, their skill level is high enough to climb that high.

        • @wch0852: Yes you are basically confirming my point. My post was a response to @serpserpserp who said "The GAME doesn't make you lose 50%, you just lose 50%!

          Upgrade your constant micro!"

I was refuting that and said basically the system is designed to make you lose 50% (with the exception of high GM)

        • @Xastros: I think you just described any good strategy game ever?

Find a weak point and a exploit it. Not the games fault you can't cover your weak spots.

If you ask me, the game is the best it has ever been, its much more fast paced which I prefer. Legacy of the void made starcraft great IMO.

Macro over Micro anyway, your acting like your a GM level player……Unless your in masters/gm you can micro all day long but if the other player macro's better then you, you loose.

        • @Xastros: "It's less about strategy and more about control which I don't prefer" While there is some level of control involved in the strategy, its not as control focused as you think. Its like two or three buttons to make your army do what you want it to do.

        • @m0tyrider: That's not true. At the lower levels you can out macro your opponent and still lose because a couple of disruptor shots destroys your army or some banelings run into your army when you were not ready to split. Even if you have 3x as much as them. I'm not saying it happens every game but the possibility that it can happen makes for a stressful experience and for me personally, a less fun experience.

I am just expressing why I don't find it fun. I already said to each their own.

No I'm not a GM player. When I did play I was only diamond.

        • @m0tyrider: It is very control focused when 2 seconds lack of attention can lose you the game. Too much AOE terrible terrible damage.

  • no free arcade mode?

  • Free forever?

  • This is good to know. Though I surely would have noticed it, I log into Battle.net every day for Overwatch so I'm surety would put it in my face in any case.

  • What about expansions etc

    • Visit the Blizzard Shop to unlock additional single-player campaigns, co-op commanders, and more.

  • Amazing! Thanks OP

  • The starcraft 2 blizzcon tournament is on live right now if you want to watch the best players in the world play in the biggest starcraft 2 tournament- https://go.twitch.tv/starcraft

  • ded gaem

  • is it free for North Korea ?

  • Thats pretty amazing I purchased all 3 games WOL was by far the best certainly worth a play if it is free!

The last one was a bit of a let down but overall it is a load of fun does it include the Covert ops DLC ?

    • Visit the Blizzard Shop to unlock additional single-player campaigns, co-op commanders, and more.

  • Is this a trial or is it permanent?

  • Yes Sir!Reporting.

    What are your command?

    Glorious Combat is upon us.

    Combat awaits.

    To Glory!.

  • Great game. Loved Warcraft II as well, but my favourite in terms of customisability and flexibility was Total Annihilation.. shame that didn't seem to take off nearly as much.

  • Free to Play meaning you get to keep the game? or only play once.

  • In the pipe, 5 by 5.

  • Is Diablo 2 still $30?

    • Actually, if you're looking to buy D2, it's on sale at eb games for $12 (includes base game + expansion)
      https://www.ebgames.com.au/pc-118613-Diablo-2-Battlechest-PC

Normal price on battlenet seems to be $25.90 for base game + expansion ($12.95 each) :p

      • It was more wtf r blizzard thinking… D2… Not f2p… Sc2 yes

I was going to buy the eternal set on xbox when it was on sale the othet week.. But I've already left my mark on the live leaderboards, so I still couldn't justify $60 for the necrophiliac… Would be piss funny to have a 2nd character up on conquest with the name Pedomancer, pet Liv Moore and enchantment to be near naked old guy with wrinkly pale skin…
I dont think the necro can move fast enough for speed racer though

        • Hahah I get you, I'm hoping they'll revamp D2 soon enough and it'll go f2p, but chances are it'll be after Warcraft 3

Yeah, don't really feel the need to buy rise of the necro yet, maybe when it hopefully goes on sale next year

  • If you already own Wings of Liberty, you will get Heart of the Swarm, for free. Log in between November 8 and December 8 to claim it.

    http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/21173629/starcraft-ii-going...

  • The campaign is amazing and definitely under appreciated!

    • I only played the campaign. Bought all of them. Didn't like WoL actually but from heart of the swarm onward i loved it.

Cbf multi-player in any game, always too competitive unless you have heaps of time to sink into it (which i never will)

  • I think this doesn't make any sense to owners of StarCraft II Battle chest?

Still, I am a huge fan of StarCraft and StarCraft Remastered (still playing). StarCraft II is more like epic campaign game only.

  • great game and it’s not subscription based …. so if you don’t play for a while you haven’t wasted subscription.

offers like this help keep people close to blizzard and maybe they will buy other stuff they see ….. my son bought overwatch though he is a starcraft player.

hence blizzard games aren’t on steam.

  • Would this run on a Minix PC? The specs are:

Chipset: Intel Baytrail quad core processor with Intel HD graphics (Z3735F)
    RAM: 2 GB DDR3
Storage: 32GB eMMC + microSD slot up to 128GB
Video & Audio Output: HDMI 1.4, 3.5mm Audio
    Connectivity: 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
    USB: 2x USB 2.0 port
OS: Windows 8.1 with Bing (32-bit)

    https://www.geekbuying.com/item/MINIX-NEO-Z64W-Windows-TV-Bo...

    • Don't think so, those specs are incredibly low. Don't be fooled by StarCraft 2's graphics as once more and more units are on the map it starts taxing your CPU and video card.

  • i m lucky i almost bought this last month

  • See you all there

  • You want a piece of me, boiii

  • We should have a starcraft 2 Ozbargain tournament :)

  • I don't get what's different between this and the currently free version of SC2 (which I tried out earlier this year).
Both give you the first of 3 campaign chapters for free, with the 2nd and 3rd being DLC = $$$.
    What's new here?

    • You get the entire WoL, not just the first 3 missions…

As well as all Co-Op commanders to LEV5…
I can't remember if you can get to 15 with the first 3…

      And ladders and multi-player functions…

  • FYI to everyone, the australian servers are combined into the Americas region so F2P might not be go live on the 14th here.
