No code needed anyway so you're just signing up for Debit Mastercard marketing.

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

Edit: Ha, I see an editor has removed the diversion via Debit Mastercard marketing. But this post may be a dupe of an existing offer.

  • Normally valued at $49.90 for 30 days - this is not cheap at all?

      • +3

I agree that the normal price of $49.90 leaves a lot to be desired. However.

It's a very good price if you can be bothered to port out to another provider every month. That's what I've been doing for almost a year now and I rarely spend over $10/month.

        • +2

If they keep it up forever it's a good way to keep up with the latest data allowances if you have two SIM slots.

Maybe a 365 day ALDI Sim for your permanent number to have Telstra in rural areas and you just buy a promo when you need data. And start every phone call with an SMS saying "pick up, it's me!".

    • +4

Once you are on it you can commit to 12 months and it's $26 a month.

    • +2

Agree but that's not what this deal is about right?

  • still waiting my free SIM to arrive… Codes would prob expire before I get them

    • +2

…it may be that you gonna get a spare one with the one you actually ordered ;). I did, it came late, but with a spare one

    • Mine from the last free deal only arrived a couple of days ago. So it can take a while.

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/01/2018.

    Decent expiry length. Thanks Op!

    • Where do we locate the voucher? Is it automatically produced when opening an account or activating the SIM card? Thanks

      • It'll be emailed to you following purchase. The SIM card will be mailed out to you.

        • Cheers. I received the SIM(s) but haven't seen the voucher yet, possibly they sent me a second SIM instead of the voucher :)

        • +1

@durendal: the voucher should have been emailed very soon after you placed the order

        • @axeology: Found it, and in porting now.. Thanks

  • +1

Great deal.. i have some overseas visitors around christmas.
Is there a time limit on when i can activate it?

    • +2

The sim I got last month had no mention of an expiry, but the vouchers do - see my comment directly above ^

  • +3

Kogan says I can get 4G where I am, and it connects to 4G - good signal.
    Just did a speedtest - 3mbps down, .5mbps up
Telstra gives me 40 down, 15 up.

    • +1

      vodaphone

    • around whereabouts are you?

    • +1

Depends on where you are. I get 40-50mbps down

    • Make sure your phone has band 5 850MHz for Vodafone

      • I have a Pixel.

      • They don't have much bandwidth in the 850 spectrum. Lions share of it is on 1800. I'm getting 30 meg each way tonight. Seen it as high as 80 here. They don't do channel aggregation like Telstra do

    • Where I am, Telstra gives me 14 down, Vodafone 100 down.. so, YMMV :)

  • they just told me it's not going to work- the deal was over at 31/10/17

    • Who said that? Kogan reps?

I purchased this after the Op posted and the order went through. Also received the voucher code…

    • Funny that cos the deal is still on the website…
I just activated with Kogan today finally. Went through and brought that deal (had a sim already)… they didnt give me that deal tho so I had to call and discuss on the phone, got it in the end though…

What a disgraceful reason for a negative vote.

So, because you are nowhere near a Vodafone tower, this deal is somehow of no value?

Maybe to you and your small little world, but for the majority of OzBargainers this is a deal worth considering.

Have a neg. That's all your narrow-minded attitude deserves.

      • -1

Did you even read what I wrote? 500 METRES is very close. And if the data doesn't work then they have lot to work on. My phone shows 4g signal and suddenly without warning no internet. Yes my phone supports all the bands that vodafone uses. It works fine otherwise. Been waiting on some important messages and it failed to provide.
Been chasing customer service multiple times no resolution. And you think that deserves no negative vote? Do they pay you to write that?

        • +1

He probably thought you typed kilometers.

    • Do you live in the good coverage region?

  • +1

Every new number is a free Guzman y Gomez burrito. Muhahahahahahahah

    • You can only do it once per imei

      • +1

I've use the same old phone with Lineage OS to do it. It's worked literally dozens of times for me.

      • -1

Will only work once per ANDROID IMEI, as Guzman Programmers can & do block this at the Android level.

You can get as many as you want via Iphone, as Guzman programmers can't block Apple's IMEI.

    • Please explain…?

      • The Guzman y Gomez app gives you a free burrito for signing up. You need an unused number to create a new account…and that's where these Optus/Kogan/Vodafone etc deals come in.

(Burner/Dual sim phone recommended to reduce hassle of swapping sims)

        • Thanks, is this once per mobile number or once per device?

        • +1

@KaptnKaos: in my experience 1 per account/number, see above comment

        • @InfraRed:

        • @itcrowd: I have a Redmi Note 2 and received free burritos (with new GYG accounts & mobile number) at least 10 times in the past 2 months.

    • This still works? Thought it stopped working?

    • this works in South Australia? They launched here last month via OTR.

      • Looks fine to me. Check out the coverage map here

        • i was not asking about Kogan, I was asking about Guzman y Gomez free burrito offer

        • +1

@yummycoot: oh ok fair enough. Don't mind me then.

  • +1

Do I need to transfer my number for this?

    • +1

Nah you can get some new digits if you'd prefer

  • Kogan sent me two sims, it says they are sending it for a friend to save on mobile. Does the promo apply to the second sim?

    • +1

Your voucher code is good for one SIM. Your "friend" can buy the same offer and apply that voucher code without waiting for the SIM.

  • After 30 days with this, can you go onto one of the plans here?

Has anyone had experience with this?

    • +1

or you can get another SIM :D, this seems to be an on going deal - just order in advance i.e. before the 30 days are over. the only issue would be that you wont be able to keep the previous number (i think, not sure if you can port in this situation). Not bad at all for $4.90 a month. Takes 5 mins to activate the sim

      • Hm, it does say you can BYO number. I was hoping to use this $5 to test Kogan for a month, and just buy one of the 365-day plans, using my current number throughout… Just for simplicity sake

        • +1

yup - def the simpler option that :)

I was just presenting the cheaper alternative :D

they even give away Free Sims for with the same data every now and then. Order a couple and you can use em for rougly 2 months (vouchers that come with the order have an expiry date)

  • +1

Can I transfer my Optus number to this deal?

    • Yes.

  • The voucher expires on 31/01/2018, does it mean this is the last day I can activate it and the 30 days starts then ( so until end of feb) or does it mean I need to use it by 31/01/2018

  • I'm uncertain about the date these have to be activated by.
That's unless there are several different activation dates for the same type of XL card.
The voucher I bought from Kogan for $4.90 said it had to be activated by 30/11/17.
Another one I bought from eBay for $1 said activate by 20/11/17.
I queried this with the seller and he insisted it was correct for his voucher.
So two XL 16gb talk and listen vouchers neither one with a date as far off as 30/1/18.
The date someone mentions here says the "SIM expiry", not the voucher.
Maybe some one from Kogan knows?

    • Well the seller could have bought their voucher some time ago, this deal has been on in the past, so expiry is imminent. But I don't know why you only got 3 weeks to activate when somebody else is got 2+ months. Maybe Kogan is reducing the validity period to crack down on hoarders?

It's the voucher code that matters. The plan it activates is recorded at Kogan. The SIM is generic.

    • Kogan SIM cards never expire.

  • I'll check with Kogan when I activate one.
It's just the deal mentioned here was the one I bought from.
And someone here said it was 30/1/18.
That was one reason I bought it.
Edit: Just bought a Small/365 and expiry on this is 31/1/18.
Mentioned just below the Activation Code.
So yes they vary. Ppl should check their own.

  • Anyone know what date this $4.90 SALE will expire on kogan.com?

When will they take the sale off the website?

    • +1

No idea - but you have til 31 Jan next year to activate once you buy

This will be my "port out" from the Groupon 6 x 28 day Amaysim promo

Then 30 days to find another deal

      • Anyone know the answer?

When will it stop costing us $4.90???

        • +1

It’s a one off, introductory deal - once you have activated you have 30 days, after that it renews at (an over inflated) full price

Sorry - didn’t understand the initial question

        • @scanuck:

Thanks but you still didn't understand the question.

When will it stop costing us $4.90???

When is the promotional price over? When will it go back to $49.90?

          What DATE? Today, tommorow, Sunday?

  • Have one of these available for FREE as I wont be using it before expiry of 19/11/2017
Flick me a message. First in first served.

  • I purchased one of these, does anyone know how to find the coupon code for the sim?

    • +1

Check your email. Maybe in the junk folder.

  • When does this SALE finish?

  • i ordered one
where do you get the voucher?

does it come through email or letterbox?

    • Email - took about 2 minutes after payment.

      • Thanks.

        Activated it.
It's okay, didn't expect much from Kogan on Vodafone

  • TY

  • Anyone experience slow browsing using this kogan SIM on chrome?

    • No, It's great!

  • how is kogan compared to tpg?

  • surely they check/care whether existing account is used to buy this?

    • Doesn't appear so. Others say they have activated many with no issues

  • Its been over an hr since I'd purchased it and still no code. :(

    • Same. Did you end up getting yours?

  • Is this stackable with the new deal from the other day?

  • Bought this a few hours ago, haven't received a voucher as of yet. Anyone else experiencing this? I usually have received vouchers almost instantly.

    • Have you received it yet? I am on the same boat. Weird compared to past experience.

      • I received it yesterday at around 7pm.

  • Have noticed a change where you can't turn off auto recharge while activating and using a voucher. You now have to do this by logging in after the initial registration process

  • Bought one today, voucher expiry is 11:59pm AEST on 15/02/2018.

    • Yea damn. Thought the expiry for the purchase of the voucher was also 15/02/2018!

  • is it possible to buy 2 of these. use 1 up first month, switch to a 2$ telstra sim, then go back to kogan with the 2nd 4.90$ sim?
will that count as a new user?

    • Yea but the code expires 15/02/2018 so you wouldn't be getting a full 2 months out of it. Still pretty cheap though.
