It's showing me higher AUD price than mentioned in the title
* Choose USD as your currency from top left hand corner. Don't select AUD, always choose to pay in USD, it will work out cheaper even after your credit card conversion fees. Also read the below.

  • So this would be the note 4x with dual camera and better ram /storage? Any other differences?

It's actually a rebranded Xiaomi Mi5X (not Redmi Note series) so it doesn't have a huge battery either.

I wish they put out a smaller Android One phone, if you're after a 5.5-inch Xiaomi with clean Android you may as well get the Redmi Note 4x for ~$100 less with a much bigger battery and put LineageOS on it. Then again official support is always a good thing.

    • Hey I was interested in the Android one but might reconsider After What you mentioned. Is it easy to flash a rom? I'm not very technically minded :/

      • It takes a little bit of know-how but if you can follow some instructions like these and watch some YouTube videos like this one then you'll be ok. I wouldn't recommend buying one of these phones without flashing a custom rom - lots of these stores load on their own rom with malware etc.

Uh, it takes about half an hour in total to set everything up (not including download time), plus the amount of time it takes for Xiaomi to approve your bootloader unlock request (it only has to be done once, takes from 24 to 72 hours). If you can read and follow instruction carefully, its not hard. I've been mucking around flashing smartphone since the Windows Mobile/Symbian days, and everything is streamlined these days. The manufacturer is aware of it and does not actively discourage it, its nearly impossible to hardbrick a device

        • xiaomi also makes you wait 72 hours once you gain approval. Not sure if the timer is tracked via the phone or the approval process. Like if you need to use the tool to start the unlock and then it starts timing down or not. Annoying either way though.

        • @Scaregdearimasu:

It's 72 hours from the time you first login using Mi Account details on the device.

Pretty ordinary how it sucks you in with :
    Processing Time:Ships in 24 hours
Shipping Time: Express Expedited 4-5 business days

Then when you go to checkout the only postage option is
Postal Service - Tracking 6-33 business days

Potential 7 week wait for shipping

    No thanks!
