  • Any idea/info on what model it is? Is it a GoFlex like previously(http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/32450)?

  • Nice this is exactly what I have been waiting for, poor work mate just paid too much a couple of days ago to buy from another online store and to get delivery when there wasn't any better bargains out there at the time. I should be getting mine before he even gets his delivered too.

    • $110 is just so good for 1tb portable hard drive.

  • so is this powered by usb or external power supply?

  • Can someone compare Samsung 2.5" and Seagate expansion 2.5"

It is for 126 here. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/34172

Samsung external 2.5" drives have the USB interface built into the drive electronics, so no swapping them out elsewhere.

If I'm reading it correctly, the Seagate one has a SATA, Seagate “FreePlay” ST91000430AS drive internally, so you can swap it over. However its 15mm thick, so it won't go in a PS3 or many laptops.

Review data at http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-ST… , if this is indeed the drive sold.

However there are a few too many complaints of dodgy drives for my liking.

      • Thanks a heap, Sane

  • thanks, i passed it onto a friend

  • Trying very hard to resist. Excellent offer. I'm convincing myself that I will be better off with an internal 2TB but it isn't working!! Argh.

Go flex 1Tb was around 129 @ msy about a month go

    • Really? That's a lot cheaper than anywhere else is selling it for

  • Got mine from the Canberra store. If it wasn't for the price, I wouldn't get it there, the dude was not friendly at all.

    • was it the flex?

    • MSY aren't really known for their customer service. Just sayin.

  • Almost reaching the psychological mark of $100. Another few weeks to go.

    • That being said 2TB HDDs are also almost under $100 just have to wait a few weeks for the new 3TB and 4TB to come out and it will be storage heaven for me. More than doubling my storage space with two pineapples :D ($50s)

  • The seagate expansion model was the same one being sold by COTD, and reviews aren't positive concerning the expansion model. Mine arrived DOA and I submitted an RMA and got a refund for it.

There was a submission on ozbargain (about a week later?) for a similarly priced seagate 1TB, the difference being it was a GoFlex and it appears to be more popular, with much more positive reviews. So I went to pick up the GoFlex model at $127 from MSY Clayton, but they were all sold out by the time I arrived, another store PCWS in the same business unit area sold it for $125 so I picked one up from there.

  • Is it as reliable as, say, Western Digital?

  • yeahhhhh… it's EXTREMELY…. reliable..

I went to MSY and picked it up today.. and it DOA right out of the box… waste of time!

    • +1

Why is Seagate still selling Expansion models? Just burning a hole in their reputation and brandname.

    • yea, i got mine today and its DOA too. damn sick. GOTTA REFUND

    • i got mine today and it worked just fine

      • it might fail one day. :)

  • I got a price match for it at Chadstone Dick Smith. No problem. Got it for $110.00

  • Worth paying the extra $16 for the Samsung model if you ask me!

  • MSY got dicked by the ACCC about dodgy warranties lol.

  • comes with 3 year limited warranty

    • Except for the contents in a defective drive.

  • already put 180GBs of stuff on and it works fine AFAIK and so far theres been no problem.

  • I'm waiting till 1tb portable comes for $100… it's getting closer :-)

    Kinda like the Aud/Usd rate… parity :)
