Sony A7RII $3280 Click&Collect or $3290 Delivered (+ $500 EFTPOS Card) @ Ted's Cameras eBay

90
PREZZY

Similar terms and conditions as per last year Eftpos cashback where it said ebay sales are not valid for cashback. I can confirm from my last year purchase that I was able to claim Eftpos cards for EBAY SALE FROM TEDs. You receive a normal receipt for your purchase and there is no mention of ebay on receipt. So no issues with cashback claim.

  • I've done Fuji cashbacks through eBay and no issues. As op mentioned invoice says nothing about eBay.

Yum, gorgeous camera. Would buy if 80% off.

  • Why does the A6500 never go on sale?

  • +3

The Teds tax invoice apparently now mentions eBay 20% sale - they have confirmed this. This as per the T & C's would mean that you would not be valid for the promotion. Buyer beware!

    • Can confirm. My invoice from the 20% off sale 2 months ago has the eBay sale on it.

      • Dang…

    • Stop spreading misinformation. They have always honoured cashbacks and EFTPOS cards from any of the Australian eBay sponsered stores.

But now the Teds invoice specifically mentions it is via the eBay 20% off sale (if purchased that way) - may not have be the case previously. Why don't you buy and advise if it goes thru then?

        The T & C's are pretty specific:

Lay-by and purchases from duty-free, discounted or clearance eBay sales, parallel import stores and second hand purchases/retailers are excluded from this promotion.

    • My invoice from last year said ebay. Sony had no issues. That was for a a7 and a 35mm F2.8.

Up to individuals i guess. Dont buy if you are uncomfortable.

I bought this camera from Ted's a couple of months ago via ebay. They sent me a used camera (it was listed as brand new).
They exchanged it immediately, but very poor form in the first place and it should not have happened.

  • so is it safe to buy from Teds or not?

    • There's enough information in this thread alone to answer this

  • I have bought from teds ebay previously and got EFTPOS Card from Sony. I think its confusing and depends on Sony to accept or reject the claim.

  • If you abide by the T's & C's of the Sony promotion you cannot use the eBay discount and still receive the Sony cashback.

I contacted Ryda about an item I want to purchase from them, at the start of the conversation they were unsure if you could use both. By the end of the conversation they were certain that you couldn't purchase from eBay and still claim the Sony cashback. You would have to purchase from their own online store.

It pretty much comes down to if you want to try it, good luck. You may be successful depending on what is on the invoice. Which makes sense according to the T's & C's of the cash back..

Once you have received the products and have the Tax Invoice you can claim the Sony promotion.

      Me
So I should be able to claim two Gift cards from Sony for my two Sony lenses right?

      Ted's agent
      Yes.

      Me
OK. Thank you for your confirmation

While I want to take advantage of this offer, there is a chance person at TEDs may be wrong. I am basing this one the following:

The FAQ for the Sony offer states:

What are the ‘proof of purchase documents’?

To claim your eftpos Gift Card, you’ll need the following proof of purchase documents:

        Completed online claim form
A copy of the store register receipt as proof of purchase of the eligible Sony camera or lenses (Including an eftpos or credit card transaction slip, unless paid in cash)

Based on this Sony will know how much you payed for the item and can work out if you got a discount. Also I'm unsure how you get a credit card transaction slip from an online purchase….especially if you use paypal.

The T's & C's for the Sony offer states:

To be eligible to claim, individuals must purchase either outright or with retailer finance an Eligible Product (being an Eligible Camera Body or Eligible Camera Lens (defined below) from a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer during the Purchase Period and the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer (“Qualifying Purchase”). Participating Sony Australia authorised dealers include, but are not limited to: JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Camera House, Ted’s Cameras, Michaels, Diamonds, Digi Direct, Video Pro, Sony Centre, Sony Store Online, Georges, Digital Camera Warehouse, Myer, Costco, Photo Continental, Camera Pro, Camera Electronic, Bing Lee, and The Good Guys.

The key point here being "the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer"

If the tax invoice shows a discount, (in theory) Sony won't honor the promotion.

Now you could argue that the discount was not from the 'participating Sony Australia authorised dealer', as it's from eBay not the dealer, and I reckon you would be right.

In the end, it comes down to if Sony themselves want to honor the promotion….

      • Well Ted's confirmed when I called them that 20% eBay sale will be on the tax invoice. Based on the T & C's there is a strong chance that Sony may say it is ineligible.

        • So what? Its been marked with eBay on the invoice for the past few cashbacks now. Have claimed it multiple times in the past with no issues. The whole ebay thing is to deter gray imports. All these eBay sponsered shops are Australian Sont stock. So strong chance of what specificallt? Stop spreading misinformation.

      • FYI, I've received the gift card approval email today.

    • Hey Guys,

I've received my two lenses today and I've already claimed on Sony website.

I will let you guys know what the result is.

      • Was the tax invoice sent by Ted's ebay to your email? I havent got my tax invoice for my purchase.

        • The invoice was in the delivery box and it clearly says that it was an eBay sale with 20% off.

        • @ylbeethoven: ah ok, thank you for that. Keep us posted with the outcome of your claim.

Has anybody called the Sony Promotions hotline -1300 552 492 to validate if Ted's eBay store with the PREZZY code is included or not?

    • Good luck with that.

  • +1

Guys - if you are unsure about this, wait for a sale with Digidirect included. They send a separate digidirect invoice. This displays the full retail price.

The Sony promotion is valid for a while and you are very likely to see a EBAY 15-20% code again (AMAZON..)

  • it will be so good if we can combine the two offers (prezzy n eftpos card)!

  • Regarding TRS, I can see in my invoice it shows the full price (not the discounted price), anyone know if this will be a problem when claiming TRS? thanks

    • No issues at all. Got my $372.72 deposited in my account a few days ago which was based on the total price of $4099.95. Final cost for the body after trs and eftpos gift card rebate is around $2417.
