You're better off using their ebay store.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/mighty_ape?rt=nc

It seems to have the same discounts, but you can also use the PING20 code for an additional 20% off.

Decent price for Scythe on their ebay site with the discount. (Thanks gallantgreg!)

    • Anything thing else you recommend?

      • Have you played agricola? if you dont mind a game like that check out Grand Hotel Austria

        • Nope. Played games like carcassonne.

        • @congngo:

Maybe Puerto Rico, minimum 3 players. Older game but a classic.

There is an app version for it on IOS which works well but only good if you know how to play the game.

        • @congngo:

          7 wonders is a great price @ $58

        • @Expon: thank you!

@Expon: Puerto Rico plays great with 2 players for us. Quite happy with the variant.

          @kulprit:

I have never tried it 2p, I shall look into it

        • @congngo: Smallworld and Mission Red Planet are good ones.

  • Anyone recommend one of these boardgames to play with the significant other?

    • Can’t give any specific recommendations but definitely have a look at reddit.com/r/boardgames

sticking to Mighty Ape's eBay listings (from lightest to heaviest):

Ticket to Ride (collect sets of cards to connect cities)
Carcassonne (lay tiles to build roads and cities)
Pandemic (play cooperatively to save the world from contagious diseases)
Small World (more fun, shorter, fantasy version of Risk)
      Quadropolis (like SimCity)
Suburbia (also like SimCity, but heavier)
Race for the Galaxy (kind of like card-based Civilization in space)

Patchwork & Jaipur & Lost Cities are great for couples, though specifically will only play 2 (if your friend is over they can't join in). They're all on the "nicer" & more casual end of the scale. Unsure if Mighty Ape have them (also use boardgamesearch to get an idea of prices).

If you both don't mind being competitive or "mean", could try a fighty deck-builder like Star Realms, or Race for the Galaxy (this latter is my favourite game, but I only recommend if you already have some prior board game experience). All those games should play out in half an hour or less.

Castles of Burgundy is pretty good with 2 (strategy level is around Puerto Rico if you have played that), and extends well to 5 players. About 1.5-2 hours of play. My gamer couple friends highly rate Terra Mystica, but this is 2-3h and fairly heavy strategy (also can be played with more players, though if your friends are only beginner gamers I do not recommend throwing them in to this).

I also really like Dominion (a deck builder), 2-4 players, say 30m games depending on which cards you choose to play with.

And I super highly rate Splendor, 2-4 players, 20min (2 experienced players) to 1h (4 players), works great with 2 players and isn't so "mean" you'll break up with your significant other. As a bonus, it's really easy to teach and learn, yet still offers a nice amount of strategy. It's very good to entice your friends into board gaming also. My gateway game of choice, and yet I still enjoy playing (despite being a seasoned gamer who has played/taught that game many times).

how could I forget, 7 Wonders Duel is one of the best 2 player games out there IMO.

      • I have to second this! I have Jaipur and Patchwork and 7wDuel and Duel is the main game I play with my partner.

    No mtg sale :(

  • Add the 'Game on Fire' if you'd like a different take on co-op games. At $26-20%+$2, only with it if you already have something on your cart.

Imhotep, Cacao and Black Fleet all at good prices.

  • Anyone tried roll for it?
