If you can confirm that there will be 25 or more people coming to your OzBargain birthday party, OzBargain will sponsor $500 towards the cost of venue, food and drinks. I have a budget of $7,500 for this year's parties so get it organised! Once you think you can confirm the number, PM me to request for sponsorship.
I think many people aren't aware of this proposal, too bad but maybe this forum isn't famous for discussion yet most people are just checking deals and go.
The people who are organizing the parties should be responsible for disseminating the information, also important to communicate where/when the party is and what is involved (for e.g one of the requirements of the party was that you shoot a short video clip)
IMPORTANT — each group has to upload a short video of the party. It could just be a view of everyone who showed up, or everyone singing happy birthday. It could be judged by the mods for some prizes later.
However, we are aware that some people will be camera-shy and may object to being filmed at the location, and may not like their faces to be uploaded on the internet for all to see. If you feel uncomfortable, you could choose not to be in the video (or maybe wear a Guy Fawkes mask to preserve your anonymity 🤣 )
Anyway, the Birthday events will be more publicly visible on the site in the coming week to encourage more participation numbers. Feel free to PM scotty if you have queries or suggestions.

no, if less than 25 ppl then you get $0 from ozb. its a condition to get the funding.
Not really. $500 is the cap, but my budget is around $20pp. I told treeman that if they are able to get 10 people I am happy to contribute $200 (well, they are in Adelaide after all). I need to set a cap just in case 100 people turn up to empty my band account :)

Nandos is a good option especially with multiples of 6 (in my experience). If you simply stick with 2 x 2 chickens and 3 sides ($54.45) per 6 people, each person pays $18.15 and almost guaranteed everyone will get enough to eat (unless everyone is a pig) as it's just over 5 pieces per person, plus sides. There will always be people who eat more or less, so it evens out or a few people get doggy bags.
You also get a variety of sides we usually choose 2 chips, 2 coleslaw and 2 rice.
YES I love Nandos. Scary canary is a cool place but the music can be a bit too loud.

At one point I had over 2000 points on my card by doing this semi regularly with my friends and cricket team. Down to about 1600 now after redeeming with the same people…Due for another one soon I reckon…is it wrong to hoard points for no reason? :(

Hi Sorry to be late to the party but I only noticed this. I can offer us exclusive area in the Canvas Bar on Kent Street for the meet up. Venue will be free of charge, but food and drinks are extra. Can be catered or just order when there.
So dedicated space for ozbargain paraphenalia and for us to compare our eneloop collections.
I was a bit too late to this post but next time we have an event, someone PM me so I can sponsor it at the Canvas Bar.

I guess if you are a youtuber, you just have to do what you have to do. However you might also need to respect people's privacy. A few people don't want to show their faces on camera when we took pictures at the Chatswood meetup. You might want to warn people about the live stream before you start.
