Perfect for when you drive your car off the end of a pier, because of a faulty GPS….

  • -4

Wow, in an emergency, that 105 grams weight and 20cm length will be a life saver.

    • What's the weight got to do with it?

      • +1

With such little bulk and such little leverage, I expect it would be difficult to break a window.

        • +17

It's the small metal spike that makes the difference. All the force is applied just on the tip, which is significant.

        • +21

@random110: So it’s not about the size, but how you use it?

        • +16

@muncan: no its just the tip

        • -6

          @Micoa:

Can we please get back to discussing the window breaking tool?

        • @rad000:
          That's what she said.

        • With such little bulk and such little leverage, I expect it would be difficult to break a window.

Are you saying that you carry a hammer in your car?

        • @muncan: ALWAYS!

      • +16

What's the weight got to do with it?

Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?

    • Its all about breaking window metal point not with force

      • Same with syderco rescue knife. Small tungsten tip to break glass.

    • -2

Have fun breaking it with your 75KG body, you won't be able to.

    • +1

      It's only $1.06

In your final minutes/seconds…it's another diversion.

  • I rather use my feet.

    • +5

if you have pressure on otherside of window that wont work, would be like stomping concrete

    • +4

      I rather use a door.

      • +4

Doors wont open if its submerged. You will have to wait for water to fill and equalize the pressure.

      • +1

or if Tree branches blocking door

      • +1

        I rather phase-shift to safety

  • +2

Thanks OP, In fact the money I paid was - Grand Total AU$1.06

    • +1

Maybe that is the GearBest favorable US$- A$ rate coming in to the calculation.

      • It is. And thanks. Stowing in car, just in case.

    • Grand is a bit of a misnomer.

  • +2

Can't bring myself to buy it… Too ugly…

    • +3

Go easy on yourself, it's what's on the inside that counts anyway.

  • +2

Keep out of reach of children and drunk friends.

  • +6

Be sure to select the zero cost postage option - it is not the default.
If an item has reached the quantity limit it reverts to full price - so check the total fits with around $1 per item before paying.

Here are a few others I thought worthwhile in the 80%OFF$1 selection to bundle into one post package:
Car Dashboard Sticky Pad Holder A$1.20
Nylon Scoop Shaped Spoon Colander A$1.04
Already posted on OZB is Air Vent Magnetic Car Cellphone Mount Holder A$0.96
    X-wing Warplane Metal 3D Puzzle A$1.05

If you need to entertain small children:
    Maze Toy for Children A$1.16
Wooden Marble Tree Kids Toy A$0.98
Floating Liquid Motion Timer 1PC A$1.20
Plastic Electric Dancing Butterfly Around Flower Cat Toy A$1.04

  • +6

Idiot buys it, leaves it in their boot.

    • -1

Passenger: "Why not use the car jack?" "Um.. this one has leds and cut belts??"

  • +9

    STOP. hammer time

  • Can be a life saver if children are locked in a car and parents are away?

    • So how are you going to train kids to use this?

      • +1

Not really to train kids to help themselves to escape
but if you pass by a car park and saw a kid that was locked in an unattended vehicle
probably handy to have this tool to save that kid

        • +7

i would suspect kids might use this during non-emergencies or on each other.

  • Kjust use your elbow or wrap your fist with a your shirt like Arnold in the movies will do the job.

    • Years ago before these were well known a friend of mine tried one of these types of hammers. He picked a rear triangle window and barely touched it - it exploded. The little triangle window turned out to be more expensive than front or rear windscreen

      • Same kinda thing here. Someone broke into my car (to steal loose change) by smashing that window. Glazier company said the same thing - would've been cheaper if they smashed the windscreen.

    • +3

Kjust use your elbow or wrap your fist with a your shirt like Arnold in the movies will do the job.

      It doesn't work.

  • These things are not just for if you are in the car its also if you arrive at accident to get into crashed car

    • +17

Also, it is a great tool to demonstrate on another drivers windscreen why cutting you off was a bad idea.

      • Too bad it won't arrive in time for people who steal your car park in the lead up to Christmas.

  • Can use it on a bus?

    • buses have windows designed to be pushed out. Some even have a window or panel on the roof as well. Not all the windows - you'll see notices under which ones can be pushed out.

    • +3

Many buses have these fitted. Attached near window designed to smash.

  • +15

Thanks OP bought one to escape from my wife if she starts an argument in the car

    • +15

      **when

      • +1

Montrola post/review 24hours after receiving hammer "perfect, works as advertised, just don't attempt exiting vehicle whilst driving on freeway.."

      • +1

My prediction would be 10 seconds into it.

    • +1

Ahh, so you ended up marrying your cell mate.

    • +1

what about the lawyers from motorola.. ?

  • +1

Testing it elsewhere before using it on your own, smart.

  • +1

So, you keep 2X AA batteries in the car and will have enough time to put them in the device while drowning?

    • You think a hammer point requires batteries?

I have one just like this, and it's certainly worth at least $1.14 - just stick it in the glovebox.

  • I think that this is expired already…. I'm seeing AU$4.20

    • +2

You have to login and apply the coupon

  • +4

I don't need it, I will not damage my car because it's my long term 80k investment

    • What about when you are driving along, come across a car that's been in an accident. The people are stuck inside, the doors won't open and their seatbelts are stuck.

Luckily, you have your 4 in 1 Car Safety Escape Hammer handy.

You smash the windows, cut the seatbelts and pull the them out to safety.

      Hero.

      • (oops, this was supposed to be a reply to comment below…)

  • This seems so paranoid… I can't imagine this being useful unless you're the sort of person that gets on the news for trying to drive across a flooded river, and if you're that person you probably couldn't figure it out anyway ;)

    • +4

Yeah you're right, just bring it along when you're due to have an accident.

  • +4

Hammer stuck in eye socket. Instructions unclear.

  • wears around neck for easy access

  • Just bought 6 misc gadget items that I am not sure I will ever use - but only cost me USD $4 with the code so who cares.
Only have to use one of them once to get payback!!
    Thanks to the OP.

  • +4

Or, apparently, you can remove the headrest from a seat to break open the window:)

I read somewhere that it works.

    • That was my first thought when I saw this post

  • +1

What functions require the batteries? Seems to me like a lot of the people who may unfortunately find themselves needing to use it won't be able to because the batteries will have gone flat (like smoke detectors).

    • LED light: provides illumination at night.
Flashing warning light: 200 meters long warning distance.

  • Someone test if these work on a lambo?

  • This Code does not exist. Please check again.

And now working again. The 4 above items are us$3.03

  • +1

Is it just me or does this look like a prefect tool for a car theft?

    • Opening doors and walking through them is a good technique for theft as well

  • If you order multiple items, be sure to check the Priority Mail options too. I order about $4 bucks worth of stuff and was able to select free Australia Priority Mail, but it seems to vary depending on the items.

  • Love this site - thanks OP

No idea I needed one of these but now I will have one.

    Same goes for:

    Cree torches
    TV boxes
    Phone holders
    4TB portable HDD
    2TB portable HDD
    1TB portable HDD
    NUC PCs
    Multiple phones

    etc etc

  • Who exactly is the US in hammer us ?

    • It shows the price following US is in US currency and not AU.

      US $0.81 (~AU $1.14)

  • Is that a Safety Escape Hammer in your pocket?

  • I am dubious that the light weight and short size of this hammer will work.

So I have purchased it to test on double parkers at the shops.

  • +3

I’m not sure if anyone posted but did you know you can use the head rest to break the glass. The removable headrests are designed with sharp tips to break glass. Make sure to not use the foam end though xD

    • What about if you roll your car and the roof is squashed down onto the headrests?

      • Then I die. Or maybe since the roof is crushed, the glass would break anyway more than likely

  • +2

sold out? The Code you entered is not for this product.

  • +2

    sold out it seems

  • +1

Received this POS today. Very flimsy looking. Plastic handle incorporates lights & probably would break if tried to smash a window. Leaving in car will likely lead to break down of plastic over time. Luckily, head with spike is heavier after installing AA batteries. So may last 1 use, which would be worth its purchase price.
