  • I think these are basically HD380's with a mic - at this price a solid deal (at the original price, a total ripoff, of course)

  • 150 Ohms.. don’t you need an amp for these?

    • An amp/dac certainly does help but you will find that most mid-high range motherboards will have a amp included which can handle 600ohms.
i have a 'msi z87i gaming ac' mobo which can handle 600! paired with the original sennheiser g4me zero which were 150ohms, the mobo handles them fine. Now the latest revision of zero or one have the same imp of 50.
since these are 150ohms, you should check your mobo specs to be safe and go from there

  • these any good?
I have some astro a40s mixamp that I feel like offloading on gumtree, how do these compare?

    • Which a40s/mixamp? I’d keep the mixamp if it’s one of the older ones before the TR and just buy a better headset to use with the mixamp.

Not sure which audiophile headsets would be good though. I recall one YouTube video had 4-5 people blind testing audiophile headsets and the A40s and they all said they felt more immersed/heard more detail with the a40s.

      • its the older mixamp pro, non TR

        • Yeah I think any mixamp other than the TR is worth holding onto. There’s something up with the Dolby version in the TR’s where everything kinda has an echo/tinny sound to it. I still use my mixamp from 2011 as games sound 100x better.

I’ve tried all he custom eq presets people have made for the TR but no one can make them sound as good as the old version
