Telstra 10GB for $39/Month Black Friday Offer (BYO Device; 12 Mth Contract)

For the first time ever Telstra is offering a Black Friday deal on mobile phone plans. They are offering $10 off their Mx plan (10GB data per month). This is a 12 month contract, minimum cost is $468, unlimited national talk and text. All support must be handled online (hence the 'x' in the plan title).

Update: Back again (thanks supert1ght)

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2017

    • I'm with Boost too and I just tried, they told me Boost is a Telstra partner so it's not eligible

      • I spoke to someone via online chat this morning and they didn't mention i couldn't if I'm a Boost customer.

  • Just switched over from my existing $40 Telstra plan with 7 gig of data to the $39 plan with 15 gig of data. Score :)

  • Can confirm the missus just signed up for $39/month for 15gb this morning via online chat.

    • Would you have a copy of the chat saved? pretty keen to jump on this deal as well…

      • I'll ask her. It was through the pop up on the product page offering another 5gb, and she jumped on and told them she had a friend who was just given $39 for 15gb and he offered it straight away.

  • just tried then, agent said Friday only

  • i have also tried just now with no luck

  • I successfully got 15Gb for $39 about 2.30pm this arvo. Well, I got offered it all but still need to call up and finalise but they said just show the transcript.
It was very easy. Getting past the chat bot at start was harder for me

  • Interesting, I just got this deal.

Existing Telstra customer who's out of contract. Have a chat transcript from Saturday where the online operator tried to give me this deal but said he couldn't as I'm on staff plan. Been calling and going into store but no luck.

Chatted to them online, told them the story and how I was getting frustrated by the whole thing. They gave me the deal.

You go through the order online, they ask for the order number, and say they mark the file and the order goes through in 24 hours, with discount and extra data applied within 48 hours. Not sure if this is the same experience others have had.

I was on the $39 staff plan and went on live chat to ask for $39 15GB deal and they agreed.
It was all done via chat, didn't have to put an order through and give the order number.
My plan changed over without issues. I guess I got lucky, easiest transition ever.

  • hi all,

I just said optus was offering 15gb for $30
    https://offer.optus.com.au/simsational-savings

has Telstra have any similar plans?

they replied if I signed up the Mx deal they will take $10 off per month. and add 5gb bonus data.

I agreed and now waiting for simcard.

    give that a try

  • Tried twice (I'm prepaid) - no luck. I'm told it's not an option available to them to even choose from. Must be a new customer / new number.

    • I'm in the same boat. On the plus side, I spend less than this each month on prepaid anyway so it's their loss.

I had already ordered the $39/10Gb plan. Got onto chat today about my order with someone different and they agreed to add the 5GB bonus (after I'd already been knocked back by 3 different people).

  • Just got an email…

"Unfortunately, we can't authenticate the information you've provided through our online shop.
This means we can't proceed, so we've cancelled your order. We'll refund any delivery charges and/or purchase amount you've already paid us to the credit card you used to place the order."

This was for a new customer on the $39/15GB deal. WTH?
    Anyone else get this?

  • Back again.

  • Just transferred from Vodafone to Telstra, got the $39 dollar deal only through talking to the Rep, as the website stated $49. then got the extra 5gb without asking, even though I knew it was available through a pop up on screen. Vodafone had the same deal but service and speed in remote areas is a problem, hence why I went to Telstra.

  • Did my order through live chat today, $39 with 15Gb data. the rep was very helpful and it all went through quickly.

    • So the deal is still valid then? Might try port my girlfriend's service across too.

Edit: Oh, saw Neil's comment above, cool.

They're calling it 'Merry Switch-mas' now. Very droll.

Beware too that if you don't already have a Telstra account and elect to open a new one, you will have to present yourself at a Telstra store to prove you are who you say you are before they will process it.

Got the deal via chat and signed up. Few days later was still on $49 10GB plan.

Called the number (1800) listed in the 'order complete' email and it takes you through to complaints department.

Told them the story, operator was very helpful and put the discount and 15GB data on my plan. Change to data came through while I was on the call (SMS) and assuming the bill will also have the discount.

Seems like complaints department is very good and helpful, and the chat operators don't always "Put a note on your account"…

    • I think I have this issue too.

I log into my account and it still says 10gb and 49$ plan

and I webchat to them many times to confirm, but guess they haven't changed it.

might have to call complaint department

      • You are on a $49 plan, you will just get a $10 credit each month

        • what about the extra 5gb? should that show in the account too?

    • What's the 1800 there buds?

  • $10 discount no longer available?

    • +1

Still available for me, just ordered $39/m for 15GB

      • Yep, page hadn't flicked to the new discounted price.
Did you still need to jump on the online chat to get the 15gb?

        • +1

Yep, need to go through Live chat, make the order, mention the 5GB offer and your order # and you should be sweet.

Also, make sure your number is being ported in and isn't currently with Telstra.

        • @Gorian4:
Ahh, I'll be recontracting so I might not have much luck with the extra 5gb.

          @linton:
Recontracting? Ask or possible 'loyalty' bonus 5GB. Add this link:
          https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/plans-and-rates/bon…
(This approach works on the mx plans).
