It should work fine, keep in mind that unfortunately there are still a lot of bad USB-C connectors and cables out there which can cause issues when running power through them and damage ports. If your just running low voltage devices with it then it might not be to much of a problem.
I just sucked it up and bought two aukeys adapters as my first ones to be on the safe side.
Make sure you use FREE1126ALL02 and not the BLACKFRIDAY2017 code that the site suggests
Cheap but does this do anything that a micro USB OTG adapter plugged into a micro USB female to type-C male adapter cannot do? Both of which I already have.
For me it's useful because the Samsung OTG adapter is too fat for my phone case opening.

The supplied micro USB female to type-C male adapter is for charging only.
The supplied USB 3.1 female to type-C male adapter is for everything/OTG - might not fit some cover cases (eg. Otter box).So does this transmit DATA or just charge?

All of my Type-C adapters (Xiaomi, OzB generics) allow both charging and data transfer as designed.
@donnot: Yes, connecting as a slave to a host like a laptop/PC but when I plug in a microUSB OTG, nothing happens.
Ah my bad, just tested and my S8 shows a 'moisture detected' warning when using the adapter with OTG.
I'd say USB 3.0 speeds would be a top contender
