    Well_i_found_you_on_ozb

  • how much is a 9kg refill normally as opposed to a swap n go?

    • +2

Not sure at Anaconda, but everywhere else it would be around $25.

      • +2

        Ah.. Thanks!!

  • Captain here - I just found out what GBR is - Gas Bottle Refills!

    flies away

  • This worked for anyone? Seems they are expecting some questions..

"If staff at any of the above stores are unsure about the price of $15.00, request they contact Head Office for verification. Remember, this promotion is for the month of November 2017 for those who say “I found you on GBR” (Gas Bottle Refills dot com)"

    • Probs just to avoid odd situations like in case the manager is sick, and new staff is working and doesn't know of the special or whatevs.. It also seems that it is targeted for GBR customers, so don't think it would be on their stores or website.

    • Worked for me, didn't even mention GBR, they just charged me $15 for the fill.

  • Cancelled in thunderstorms. No kidding.

So Anaconda opened up on the Great Barrier Reef, eh.

This is actually a decent deal - most of the time gas refills are a scam!

    1kg of LPG is 1.96L (http://www.elgas.com.au/blog/389-lpg-conversions-kg-litres-m…)

    So that's 17.64L of LPG, at 70c that's $12.35.

You're still better off filling at the servo if you've got an adaptor, but they get really shitty about that, I've heard…

    • Of course doing it yourself is going to be cheaper than paying someone else to do it for you.

      • +1

Yeah, but normally when the cost of these things is $25+ and the bloke has to spend 2 minutes doing it for you, you're being robbed.

    • if you've got an adaptor

Do you know where you can get an adapter ?

      • +1

I think eBay. But they are illegal to use - and there seems to be some conjecture as to if the fuel is the same.

This seems to indicate that the same stuff that runs you car also cooks your snags: http://www.elgas.com.au/blog/350-propane-lpg-whats-what

        • Thanks, I found the Gas bandit adapter on Ebay,
but probably can't get away with using it, unfortunately.
I'm pretty sure the fuel is just as good to use.

  • Aside from this post; any idea where I can purchase new 9kg bottles instead? Never had a gas bottle before.

    • …if you don't have one you probably don't need one…

      • your reply suits you well … dont have a useful response, dont give one =)

        • +1

I don't understand, you say "you've never had one before" as if you somehow want one just to take advantage of this deal?

Usually if you needed one you'd have one as you'd likely have the relevant gas-burning appliance too…

        • @picklewizard:

          read … "… purchase new 9kg …" <—- "new"

        • @LurvinOZB: Yeah dude I caught that… I also caught the bit where you said "never had a gas bottle before"

I'm still unconvinced you know what it's for!

        • @picklewizard: i've got time for you, lucky you boy =)

    • Anaconda sell them as well (~$40 for an empty one).

    • $35 at bunnings.

    • Try and find an old discarded one for free.
Cause I think some places will do a swap without checking the condition.

    • Bunnings it is then

      ~Thanks!
