Is this targeted/AMEX issued card only? Not showing up on AMEX Connect

    • Looks like it, just updated.

      • +1

Just appeared on AMEX connect. Not targeted

  • +6

Showed up in my PtEdge and not my Explorer, but since it's on Amex Connect it doesn't matter. Manual link below.

    • Thanks for that, I've updated my post

Great deal but it won't stop the existential dread from setting in

    • +1

Jesus dude, I think you need to book a flight somewhere.

  • Do you think Qantas Club renewals will go through under the same merchant as flights, and therefore trigger the credit? I know it’s excluded by the terms.

    • What's the go with renewals? I registered an account for free via my bank a while ago. But do I need to pay I'm future years for membership to keep accruing points?

      • +1

You’re thinking of Qantas Frequent Flyer which doesn’t have renewals. I’m referring to Qantas Club, which is the paid membership program that gives access to Qantas lounges :-)

  • Too many restrictions and exclusions..

  • Does anyone know in the event of a cancellation and refund, is the credit gonna be reversed or they're just bluffing?

    • I’ve had to cancel before. They are bluffing

      • +1

when they reverse the transaction it has to be offset directly against the original amount. so if you do a partial refund there's almost no chance of the credit being reversed. However if you for example spend $500 and got a refund for $500, that's just easy pickings for their data matching :D

    • I've had credits reversed with amex before, although not specifically Qantas.

  • I doubt they will be able to tell between transactions through aggregators especially Expedia as transactions always show up as airline everytime I book through Expedia.

  • Can you buy Qantas gift card from them and trigger this deal?

    • Terms and Conditions: "The eligible card must be registered and then used to purchase an eligible Qantas flight."

      • I remember the previous Qantas amex deal people bought gift cards and it worked.

        • It's your money.

        • did anyone actually try gift cards with this particular offer?

  • Why is this not showing up on my Qantas issued amex card :(

    • +2

It was not showing on mine either, so I just used the direct link to save manually to card as they have always done in the past.

Edit: After saving the offer is displayed in AMEX app/member page.

      • Thanks will try that.

  • Is it ok if i just dave all offers to card?
Would it have anny problems if i did not end up using that offer?

    • Often wondered if AMEX is monitoring saved offers to see how many you redeem. If you don't intend on booking a flight by the 28th December then I suggest leaving it be for other customers.

      • True.. thnx

    • +1

Would it have anny problems if i did not end up using that offer?

no problem but if you don't intend to use it then don't save it for the sake of others who might miss out because 30k people have registered.

PS. I know I won't be able to use it so won't save to my 5 cards :)

    • +3

I used to save all offers on my card previously and rarely used them. But then i noticed i dont get the targeted offers, so now i stopped registering for unwanted offers

  • How do the credits work if you made the spend just prior to the enrolment? I assume a no go.

  • Just be aware that Qantas flights purchased directly (particularly international flights) are slightly more expensive than those that are offered via sites such as "I Want that Flight'. Plus, you also have a credit card fee on top

    • +5

Qantas also offers a sort of quasi-pricematch.
Basically you book on their site and pay the full amount and send them a screenshot of the same fare on another qebsite and they will refund you the balance once you have begun your trip.
This does mean they get to hold the difference (and your interest) in the interim but this deal may make it acceptable.

Cashback payable on payments when booking a Qantas FF award flight?

    • You mean for the taxes they charge? I guess so if the taxes are $350 or more.

      • Yes, taxes, fees, surcharges etc etc… can be more than $350! Hope this is eligible!

        • Confident they would be valid transactions.

        • Offer not valid for spend on hotels, car rental, packages, insurance, activities, charters, Qantas Frequent Flyer, Qantas Business Rewards

        • +2

I wonder if that means purchasing ff membership or anything using points. Surely there is no way of telling that a legitimate charge for taxes and fees towards a flight redemption (using partly points) is different to the whole flight, taxes and fees?

        • @camcam: that's what I thought too, how can they tell?

  • Don't see this offer :(

  • I've got a QF Y booking from MEL-SAT (via SYD and DFW) and would like to upgrade the SYD-DFW and DFW-SYD legs to Exit Row seats (180 each way), so this offer would be perfect.
Any idea if it's a valid transaction for this offer?

  • Is it possible to split payment?

  • does anyone know if the travel dates must be before a certain date ? can only see that we have to book before 28/12
    thanks

    • No.

  • Does anyone know if it works choosing seats on qantas.com ?

  • thanks op, available on connect and my Qantas card

  • +3

do you think it'll work with buying jetstar flights on qantas.com?

    • Should work, as long as payment occurs while still on a qantas.com base URL.
Just bought exit row seats and it worked, even though the offer says it's only valid for flights purchased.

  • Can this offer be used to pay for taxes when redeeming for classic reward flights?

    • Should work, as long as payment occurs while still on a qantas.com base URL.
Just bought exit row seats and it worked, even though the offer says it's only valid for flights purchased.

  • Did people get credit back as soon as qantas takes the money? Harvey Norman offer basically had credit put into my account as soon as the transaction was finalised (no longer pending) but not for the qantas one. :/ the money was taken by qantas 2 business days ago, still nothing

    • I do not know about QF promotion, my experience was with all other AMEX promotions, it will take 4 to 5 business days for the statement credit to come in. If you received an email from AMEX, just hang in there as the statement credit will appear. Give up to 5 business day. ..Since Amex changed the system, the statement credit take longer to arrive…

      • Haha saying about which, it came today. 😂 took longer than HM offer

Anyone know how many GCs can be used to pay for Exit Row seat selections? I'd like to select exit row seats for my SYD-DFW and DFW-SYD flights ($180 each), and would like to pay for this using 2 GCs!

EDIT: just checked the gift voucher site and Qantas says "Vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be used for multi-city, Classic Reward, Any Seat Reward or points plus pay bookings, or redeemed for cash or other goods or services such as additional baggage or seat selection."

FYI for anyone in the same situation. Drat, what a shame!

  • Good news, just selected exit row seats for my SYD-DFW and DFW-SYD flights ($180 each) coming up in Feb/Mar and got the email as soon as payment processed. Awesome feeling.
