    I wouldn't even pay $20

That shit isn't even worth the $59 asking price, let alone the ridiculous $199 RRP.

  • +14

I feel I should be receiving royalties.

  • +1

Or… you could make one yourself for much less?

    tactical pen

    That sounds hilarious.

    • +1

not so hilarious when you get jabbed with one(!)

    • +6

Well it's mightier than the tactical sword.

  • +3

    tactical pen

Really? Is that for tactical engagements with paper?

The pen is mightier than the sword.

    • for writing angry letters telling someone how angry you are

      • I finding shaking my fist at their general direction more than adequate.

        • farting in their general direction is more my thing ;)

Not close; if the items were even similar, would give you credit. Neg if you find something equivalent, you just poked ebay and found something not even close. If you had researched, you would probably find Amazon selling the same items for $79USD + delivery - which was the cheapest alternative I found.

According to Amazon doesn't seem too bad:

    https://www.amazon.com/Multi-tool-Tactical-Flashlight-Waterp…

One guy even says you can use use the tactical pen to defend yourself with. Reminds me of a Monty Python sketch involving a "Pointed Stick", or in this case, here you take the pen and come at me, I will just use the knife …

Whilst I was researching I did find these:

    https://www.amazon.com/INDIANA-Acoustic-Guitar-Mossy-Oak-Inf…

(No idea what a SNARK TUNER AND KYSER CAMO CAPO is but its free which equals Bargain!)

But the true bargain has to be this:

    https://www.amazon.com/Mossy-Oak-Honey-Apple-Salsa/dp/B00TJ5…

    given you could pay this:

    https://www.amazon.com/Mossy-Oak-Honey-Apple-Salsa/dp/B00TJ5…

Yep, quiet day at work here …

Have not found similar pricing on this kit anywhere, checked amazon found same deal.

Decent youtube reviews on their knives, pliers etc.

    • Very TriggerHappy…
You realise that 16oz (454g) Honey Apple Salsa price is for 12 or 24 bottles shipped (in USA). Shipping that fragile & weighty order would probably be expensive.

    • While true, it seems they outsourced their marketing (or at least Amazon listing writing) department to China (or another non-English speaking country).

      E.g.:

Cool writing tools with high performance and bodyguard for emergency
The Bracelet with built-in whistle anc compass, great for hiking, trekking , camping and emergency situation

Which then makes me wonder if the quality is similarly outsourced. That they also make everything from T-shirts to apple sauce salsa makes me wonder how… professional they are in this field, and that they sell a lot through Walmart doesn't help things either.

Just since I felt bad ragging on this deal without doing much research (didn't neg), here is an actual potential point of comparison:

    https://www.wildearth.com.au/buy/gerber-bear-grylls-ultimate…

Made by Gerber (a much more recognized brand in this area imo?), Bear Grylls branding (yay marketing!), but it actually comes with:

    Features

    16 Piece Kit

    Gerber Miniature Multi-tool

    Needle Nose Pliers
    Wire Cutters
    Fine Edge Knife
    Serrated Knife
    Phillips Screwdriver
    Small Flat Driver
    Medium Flat Driver
    Lanyard Ring
    Bottle Opener
    Tweezers
    Waterproof Bag
    Miniature Light
    Hand Saw
    Signaling Mirror
    Survival Blanket
    Fire Starter
    Waterproof matches
    Cotton Ball - Fire Tinder
    Snare Wire
    Emergency Cord
    Waxed Thread
    Fishing Kit
    Sewing kit
    Lanyard Whistle
Lightweight, ripstop nylon bag with waterproof zipper
    Land to air rescue instructions
Priorities of Survival - Pocket guide contains Bear s survival essentials
    Lifetime warranty

All for $69.50, down from $92.95RRP. (Out of Stock - but at least a point of comparison).

Full Disclosure: No tactical pen or LED torch, but anyone who's been on OZB long and hasn't yet gotten a dozen LED torches or free pens is doing something horrendously wrong that no amount of survival kit can save them from anyway.

Cash rewards as well at wild earth. No hard plastic case either; but who really needs that in a survival situation?

You can neg the deal; your research is worthy.

      • +3

Haha don't take it like that. I do appreciate everyone who submits deals to OzB - that's what makes this thing go round and round and let me find deals in the first place. My comments are mostly just joshing is all - the deal is a good one compared to RRP, just that sometimes RRP doesn't tell the full story - BUT! The reviews from verified purchasers are all great and the product itself seems to be good quality.

No real downsides to it, other than the possibility it's not as great a deal, but hey - a survival kit when you need it is far preferable to still be waiting for a deal on a survival kit… when you need one.

    • Ebay sellers $69 and $89 for the Gerber Bear Grylls 16-piece kit.
