    The first URL reads fitbit+ch

    • Updated the links :)

  • Cheers OP, didn't really want a Fitbit but the Charge 2 really does tick all my boxes and at $144 it's a damn good package.

My Garmin Vivofit survived 2 years and needed battery replacing three times (should have only been two) so given that's a 50% (or 33% depending on how you want to look at it) failure rate on its advertised battery life I didn't want to buy Garmin again. The band also needed to be replaced twice and I went third-party the second time and it was actually a bit better at a fraction of the price. Also as the battery depleted it would stop keeping time properly which is particularly worrying when you're in a profession that requires very accurate times.

    • if you get officeworks or jb hifi extended warranty, they will just replace the whole unit not just the battery

  • is the Xiaomi Band 2 just as good as this

    • Wont be as accurate

  • I ve been using fitbit, the device is fine but their app is totally trash. it s been several months already that you have to log in everytime you enter the app. please check their app store reviews before you buy it, seriously

    • The missus has no issues with the app on her iPhone and bluetooth sync with the band and also the scales. Works seemless. Waiting on amazon echo as google cant talk to fitbit yet.

    • The only issue I have is it can take time to sync with my phone/app.

I thought this was just the way it goes but my wife got one and everything is instant.

I'm pretty happy with the device and app as a whole.

  • It's a pretty useless thing. Can't weat it if your driving or using machinery and that includes a mower or blower or whippersnipper ect. But you can get a third party app called DriveBit that you turn on whenever your driving or using machinery which in one respect negates the whole idea.
I spent a day yesterday painting a fence, the constant movement of my dominant hand had me clocked in by the fitbit app as having done 14k's and today I was brooming on chlorine on paving and it had me clocked in at the end of the day as having done 19k's and burnt 4.900 calories(I wish) as well as 36 stairs which I'm guessing is me bending squatting or something.

I reckon there's better things to spend your hard earned on. (mine was a gift, I'd never buy one)

Well it is a wrist tracker so if you're doing a lot of stuff like that it isn't going to be suitable.

You can't take the stats as gospel either, but as long as it's consistent it can be used as a benchmark and for motivation.

I agree though that the tech still has a way to go.

      • Yep, your right I guess(and I've been neg voted so someone doesn't like the description I supplied) but who are these things targeted at?
Office workers, desk occupants seems to be the group. Certainly not your blue collar worker or tradie like me.

I'd like to be able to keep a track of my physical exertion like today was spent raking and shovelling topsoil from 8am with smoko&lunch break till 4.30. Just dump wheelbarrows of soil and rake or shape into garden beds. The fitbit had be at nearly 18k's and a lot of steps. It wasn't like that, just a steep site and small spaces.

*Oh well, you can only call it as you see it, neg votes or not :-)

I think you're right, aimed at the sedentary population wanting to get or stay in shape. I think you'd need a tracker on your hip if you wanted to count steps or it's going to be all over the shop.

Balanced that neg out for you :D, not that I'd be worrying about negs on this board :)

  • I've had 3 of the wrist bands fail on my Fitbit Charge HR 1 and now I'm up to band number 4 on my Charge HR 2. Fitbit said the last time the weren't going to send me any more new bands even though the product isn't fit for service. I threatened with going to the ACCC and they said they would send me another - but apparently they had none in black and I had to settle for blue. For the last 2 replacment bands they said my product was on the way (when it wasn't) and I waited 2 weeks before contacting them again before they sent it out for real. Absolutely terrible quality for the product even though I do like the product technology.

I won't ever give them another cent though.

  • Is fitbit better or garmin?

  • Surprised this hasn't received more + votes, great price on Charge 2.
